👉 Deck: Along with the phenomenal view, you’ll find seating for 10 around a propane fire pit, a picnic table, beanbag toss, kids horseshoes, and plenty of room for other games.
👉 Wildlife: Deer, wild turkey, raccoons & squirrels frequent the property daily. Beautiful hummingbirds, hawks, woodpeckers and Stellar Jays (blue jays) are never in short supply. Keep those binoculars close at hand...will you be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a fox? Maybe a bobcat or mountain lion?
👉 Upstairs: The open loft serves as 2 of the 4 bedrooms listed. The 2 sleeping areas are separated by a bridge and each sleeping area/bedroom has its own small closet and windows.
👉 Upstairs Queen: 1 Queen and 1 Twin (with skylight) are located on one end of the loft. Sliding doors here will take you onto an intimate balcony with more of those gorgeous views. You’ll take phenomenal sunset photos from this small balcony.
👉 Upstairs Twins: On the opposite end of the loft, are two twin beds, and a small desk area for your laptop.
👉 Upstairs bathroom: Complete with shower, this bathroom also boasts a skylight.

⭐️ “Everywhere in this Airbnb is set up for a large group to be able to spend time together.”
Guests have sole access to the entire 2,400 sq ft chalet and the entire 6 acres of land from where the driveway begins to loop. Photos may show what looks like a sunroom. This room is now a locked utility room and is not included in the square footage or the room count. The carport and grey cabin are not part of your rental and as such, you do not have permission to enter either. Please do not park in the carport.
Other things to note
⭐️ “Beautiful location, lovely home, well stocked kitchen, kid and pet friendly!”
👉 Security: There is 1 operational security camera located at the front door, in the form of a Ring doorbell which records both visually and audibly. This camera is facing the driveway and is actively recording 24/7 during your stay. There are no cameras on the deck where our guests hang out nor are there any inside the chalet. We take your safety as well as your privacy very seriously.
👉 Restaurants: There is only one vegetarian restaurant on the mountain that has limited hours. The many Casinos surrounding the base of the mountain provide a wide variety restaurants.
👉 Supermarkets & Gas stations: There are no supermarkets or gas stations on the mountain. There is just one small general store and an adorable rural post office. All guests should purchase groceries and drinks, as well as fill up their vehicles, before heading up the mountain. There is a small market at the base of the mountain that sells limited grocery items, including fresh meat. The closest large chain supermarkets will be found in Escondido and Temecula.
👉 Street lights: Palomar is a ‘dark mountain’ due to the Palomar Mountain Observatory. This means there are no street lights and outdoor lighting is kept to a minimum. Excessive light-noise interferes with the Observatory’s ability to view space.
👉 Smoking: This is a non-smoking (tobacco, vape, marijuana) property, both indoors and outdoors.
👉 Fire-pit: The outdoor fire-pit is not to be used for cooking food or making s’mores.
👉 Upgrades & Photos: We are constantly upgrading at the chalet so photos may show items not yet upgraded. For example, we now have leather couches and we replace bedding and quilts frequently. Our fire pit was also recently updated.
👉 Sunroom? No: While some of the photos might appear to show what looks like a sunroom, the ‘sunroom’ is not a room, it is a supply and utility closet and is off limits to all guests…which is why it is not listed as a usable space for guests. This room must remain locked at all times as it contains items that may be harmful to children, pets, and/or adults.
👉 Nature: Due to the rural nature of the property, bugs and other wildlife (potentially dangerous) frequent the property. Please keep all doors and windows closed to ensure bugs and wildlife stay outside and do not come inside. Please keep ants at bay by not leaving food out on the counters.
👉 Spring: We planted daffodils for all guests to enjoy in Spring. Please don’t pick them.
👉 Accessibility: This property is not an accessible property and may provide significant challenges in regards to walking and using the bathrooms. Our toilets are not extended in height. There are 3 steps on the front porch. These steps are made from stones and are therefore not perfectly level or even. The same goes for the short pathway leading to the stairs. Please watch your step as these walking surfaces are not level, smooth or even and may be made worse by ground squirrels or moles digging. Please contact your host if you have any issues. There are 2 bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and there is a 13 step staircase inside the chalet that takes you up to the 2nd level. There are 3 wooden steps from the upper deck to the lower deck. Please see photos if stairs are an issue for anyone in your group and contact your host to have any questions answered.
👉 The grounds: We are not landscaped. Ground squirrels, moles and gophers live around and on the property. These animals dig holes and tunnels in the ground, making it uneven, not level and creating holes that one might step into. Walking only on paved areas and the deck will help to prevent falls or injury.
👉 Wildlife: We do not allow hunting or harassment of wild animals on the property. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
👉 Poison oak: Poison oak is present on the mountain and therefore on the property. Please view the red binder or do an internet search so everyone in your group knows what it looks like and is able to avoid coming in contact with it. Poison oak can cause a rash for those who are allergic to it. The leaves may be green or red and after fall, just the bare vine is visible. Leaves of three, let them be!
👉 Heating and AC: In keeping with Californias green initiative, our HVAC system will adjust itself and eventually turn off if you leave doors or windows open while it’s running. Remembering to close the doors when you enter and exit, will prevent the unit from shutting off.
👉 Mattresses: Guests require the hosts permission before bringing any additional mattresses or air mattresses into the home.
👉 Electricity: Electricity on the mountain is more expensive than it is off-mountain. We pay a premium due to our overhead power lines and the maintenance they require. When using the heat, fireplace or air conditioning, we require guests to keep doors and windows closed.
👉 Bugs: Leaving outside lights on overnight will attract bugs, so please turn them off when they’re not needed.
👉 Grill safety: We provide a fire extinguisher a few steps to the left of the grill (against the house) and there is also a hose located a few feet away.
👉 Winter heat: Living room fireplace is only available during the winter months. Contact host for exact dates.
