Retreat to a rural arts destination! The Inda Hightower Artist In Residence Facility, operated by the Coleman Center for the Arts, is a former bank transformed into a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom artist residency, complete with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, smart TV, board games, a bike, and an artist workspace. Enjoy complimentary wi-fi and access to our free community garden. Plan self-guided art tours, or schedule a campus tour/gallery appointment. Located two blocks from an active train crossing.

The space
3 bedrooms, 1 full bath (shower only), huge living room and formal dining area, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and an additional work room. Access our free community garden in the rear. Art gallery at the end of the block; murals and public art installations within walking distance of the residency. The residency is available for booking when artists are not occupying the space.

Feel free to make the entire residency facility your home for the duration of your stay.

Our office is located next door to the facility. We are open for limited hours during the week.

The Coleman Center for the Arts is a nonprofit civic arts organization located in the rural Alabama Black Belt in York, Alabama. Our goal is to solve our community’s issues through the arts. Established in 1985, we serve our community through our artist residency program, arts education for youth and adults, socially engaged art exhibitions, a dance studio, a community rental space, and our free community garden. Come get creative with us!
