Located in the heart of old Matanzas, this spacious two-storey apartment is housed in a small building overlooking River San Juan. This open concept space has been designed and renovated from scratch. for family stays, or hosting a special event. Enjoy the nightlife of Matanzas and use this comfortable apartment as a base from which to explore other towns e.g. Varadero and Havana.
We also provide some excursions to diferent places, snorkelling, restaurants, taxis and more.

The space
Casa Luna is a 3-bedroom 2-storey apartment with a back-up power system. It’s located on the second floor of a small apartment building (circa 1810) which has 4 units on each floor. We own two units (Casa Luna & Casa Rio) on the second floor. The apartments are adjoined by lockable door and can be rent separately or together as one larger 5-bedroom unit (Casa Cuba).

At Casa Luna the first level has a balcony from you can watch the sunset, observe many classic cars passing by and experience everyday life in an authentic Cuban town. On the upper floor there is access to the rooftop where you can enjoy stunning views of the river flowing out to the Bay of Matanzas.

Guest access
Casa Luna is an independent unit, so you are renting the entire apartment. It has a locked front door and security gate (as is usual in Cuba). Additionally the street-accessed entrance to the apartment building is always locked. You also have use of a rooftop patio, with stunning views of Matanzas.

Where you’ll be

The apartment is situated between Calle Rio and the river banks of Río San Juan. The front door of the building is steps from Plaza de la Vigía, a pedestrian square with cafes, bars, art galleries and theatre (Teatro Sauto). Also steps from the front door is Calle Narváez, a pedestrian stretch of bars and cafes along the banks of the river. This is quite lively at night and can also be enjoyed from the rooftop patio. A five minute walk takes you to the shores of the Bay of Matanzas. Although not as pristine a beach as those in Varadero, it is swimmable and there is a paved trail for walking or running. A ten minute walk takes you to the historic Parque de la Libertad, great for architecture, espresso and people watching.
