Beautiful holiday cottage located on Tate Hill beach in Whitby. 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. The cottage has a lovely living area running from front to back comprising of a fitted kitchen with quartz countertops, dining & lounge area. The french doors & glass Juliet balcony allow unrestricted views across the sand below, harbour & out to sea.
4 guests max, no pets, no parties (requested quite time 10pm-7am) There is no parking in this area & cottage is unsuitable for children under 10 years old
The space
Appleton house has been in our family since it was first built, it has recently undergone extensive modernisation and we are very proud to be able to offer stays in our locally owned and privately run holiday cottage.
On the ground floor of the cottage is a spacious kitchen area with sparkly quartz countertops, oven, ceramic hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, an integrated fridge with freezer box, and an integrated dishwasher.
This leads through to the light and spacious dining and lounge area, with windows on three sides, there is a view from every area of this room! There is bench seating round the dining table, a comfortable sofa and 2 tub chairs.
The beautiful full height french doors which benefit from a glass Juliet balcony over the sand are quite breathtaking! And the large north facing window allows amazing views of the North Sea... should you tire of this view, this is also the home of a smart TV with freesat, an amazon echo dot, a selection of books and games.
Free WiFi is available throughout the cottage.
There is also a WC shower room on this ground floor.
Stairs lead to two bedrooms both with double beds, one of which has the same sea views as downstairs.
A further staircase leads to the upper bedroom, again with a double bed, which has a sloped ceiling really adding to the character of the space.
All bedrooms have lamps, bedside tables, clothes hanging rails, amazon echo shows for use as alarm clocks, radios, and other useful information.
There is also a shower room on the top level which has the benefit of mirrored glazing allowing an amazing view of the harbour and sea whilst also offering privacy.
The Velux roof windows also offer views of the east cliff and St. Mary’s church.
All bedding and Guest towels are provided and a small selection of toiletries are also provided.
The 3 double bedrooms allows flexibility for your sleeping arrangements, however please remember it is a maximum 4 guests. It is equally suitable for a couples that would like a little more space.
The cottage is not suitable for infants or children under 10 years old as per our property safety risk assessment and lack of facilities.
Strictly no pets are allowed.
No smoking or vaping inside the cottage (including over the Juliet balcony!)
Absolutely NO parties, we ask that all guests keep noise to a minimum between 10pm and 7am.

Guest access
Guests have full and private use of the cottage. There is no outside space, but the beach is literally on your doorstep! And there are plenty of benches located on the pier should you wish to sit outside.
Other things to note
Unfortunately the location, access and layout of the cottage means it is not suitable for people with mobility restrictions.
We are unable to offer any parking, please see the parking guide for information about parking in the town. Vehicle access to the cottage is very limited.. and impossible during the daytime. If you are using sat-nav to access the cottage in your vehicle it may direct you to the top of the 199 steps... you can NOT get your vehicle to the cottage this route.
You can only drive near the cottage via the cobbled stretch of church street for loading and unloading, and we do not recommend doing this during the day time due to the street being pedestrianised. There is strictly no parking on this stretch of the street.
The cottage is strictly no smoking or vaping, maximum 4 guests, and we do not allow pets.
Unfortunately we can not host children under age 10 years of age as per our property safety risk assessment, and strictly NO parties - We kindly ask guests to please keep noise to a minimum between 10pm and 7am to avoid disturbing the attached properties. However please note that due to the close proximity of the public beach and neighbouring properties, there is some potential for noise.
