This cozy cabin provides a perfect getaway and is a gem in all seasons, especially during the fall colors or a blowing winter storm. Timber frame cabin built on a hilltop, on 20 acres of old growth maples. Walls of glass, a screened in porch and a wrap around deck bring the outdoors inside. The ridge top location has spectacular views through the trees - with lake views after the leaves drop. The property also boasts a fantastic wood fired cedar sauna - perfect for rejuvenating.
“We got to hike Kudance River (highly recommend) and Devil's Kettle. The welcome booklet was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, as we did not have GPS signal and drove around with the booklet everyday for reference! Everything was easy to use and clean. We only made the crazy drive up the last hill once to empty the car.... every time after that we parked down at Tom Lake Rd. It is not very car friendly and it had rained overnight, but the walk up is beautiful. We used one can of bug/tick spray and did not get a single woodtick. We spent time at the cabin reading all the books we found, and playing chess. Used the Sauna once, and it was so nice! Had a campfire the same night and boy did those mosquitoes disappear! Got a lot of use out of the screened in porch, and the outhouse is very close to the cabin. Overall the experience was fantastic, just what we needed and we would stay again!!”

“Colette and Justin were the most amazing hosts. They want above and beyond to help accommodate our needs, were super responsive and overthrew top kind and helpful. We would defiantly recommend their home. It is beautifully decorated and well laid out. Our family of 5 was very comfortable.”
Perched up on timbers, this cozy little A-frame offers a perfect blend of urban loft and rustic cabin living. Offering a bird’s eye view of the harbor and famous lighthouse from both the deck and the loft bedroom, the Birdhouse is a charming home base for your Grand Marais adventure. The cabin is nestled in an alley just a few steps from downtown restaurants, shops, harbor, breweries, coffee shop, North House Folk School, Art Colony and much more.
“The birdhouse was a cozy fun place to spend a few days. It is nestled into town close to a brewery, a co op food store nearby and a short stroll to the lake. We enjoyed coffee on the deck, warm baths in the tub and a great view of the moon from the loft. Thoughtful details were evident. Recommend!”
