Vacation rentals with a kayak in Darwen

We had a lovely weekend away here with my elderly parents. Lovely garden, secure for our dogs. Gorgeous view and we had beautiful sunsets. My dad saw a barn owl which he had never seen before which made his day. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing stay - perfect stay on the lake. Lovely clean house on the lake. Lovely added extra of the double Kayak. Only downside - is no sun on the deck in the afternoon.

Such an amazing property and host. We was celebrating my brothers birthday Alex put decorations up and left a gift which was such a lovely gesture. We loved it there so much we are planning on making it an annual family trip. The house is set on the canal and the house comes with a boat, canoes and bikes which we made use of all weekend and made it so special.

Wharfinger’s Cottage is an idyllic sanctuary! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to be back!

We had such a wonderful weekend we booked to go again next year on the day we left! A very relaxing home from home feel about the property that makes you feel chilled from the moment you arrive. The finishing touches, decor, games etc went the extra mile…looking forward to next year already!

We had the BEST weekend here and are already looking to book again! It was so peaceful and also lots to do - we must have done everything! Ping pong, darts, kayaking, bbq, swing ball etc. Our two little dogs had a lovely time too. Only issue we had was flies, so will bring citronella candles next time

Such a wonderful location with use of the lake for paddleboarding and sailing……. Property was brilliant and well presented. Kate was always on hand to answer any questions and very responsive. Would be more than happy to return again.

We had a smashing stay at Angela’s. Great and swift communications. As fir the house itself, Imagine that you are house sitting a farmhouse. Everything you need is there and works. Look at the photos it perfectly captures the quirk and character of that old house. We enjoyed it and would return. Just what we wanted. Hay is ten minutes drive, the river is a small walk away and the great black mountains basically up hill from right there. The roads are so quiet, the garden beautiful and the night is properly dark. Just what we wanted.

A real home from home.The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need including tea, coffee and sugar and cooking essentials. The biscuits and fresh milk on arrival were thoughtful. The luxury toiletries were gorgeous and it felt like a hotel with the fluffy white towels and dressing gowns. Great quiet location with a private rear garden really fantastic for our two pooches and our Son to be free to play safely. The decor was really stylish and the whole feel of the cottage was welcoming. The provision of all the games and books kept everyone entertained and we slept well in the comfy beds. We recommend a visit to the Cotswolds water park for active families for kayaking, aqua venture and paddle boarding etc but it’s quite pricey ! For pub food we went to The Somerford Arms great atmosphere and only 5 minutes drive away. For your food shopping there is an Aldi or Waitrose 15 minutes drive away. Thanks again

I booked Rachel's place for my parents and another couple. They said that the accommodation was great. It was comfy and really well located. Being by the canal was a lovely spot and they enjoyed a boat trip and steam train ride locally.

We stayed for the weekend with a group of friends. It was ideal to explore the peaks and lakes in the area. Most places need to be accessed by car but taxis were available to get to Cartmel and other places locally. The place is perfect, we had a lot of space and really well equipped for our needs. Would definitely recommend it and happily stay again. Thank you

A truly magical, cosy, and charming cottage! It was perfect for us, our daughter and our dog - we only wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely visit again.

Amazing location, with the most breathtaking views. We loved sitting upstairs and playing eye spy with the kids! Lovely walks from the cottage, and not far to a beautiful waterfall walk. The cottage has everything you could need, the beds were comfy. The kids loved the cows in the field outside and following them to the cottage through the field.

A girls night away in the cabins and we wanted to stay forever longer! When we arrived we were so shocked by how stunning it was, so quiet with only the sound of the river and the most stylish cabins and good sized hot tub. It had everything we could've needed and a very high tech air fryer. Anthony was very responsive and friendly and came out in the evening to fix a lightbulb for us. The hot tub was beautifully clean and a lovely temperature. I have sent links to all my friends and family because you must see this place! Thank you so much, and we will be back! Xx

Alma and Charlie are lovely hosts, personally showing us to our cabin and ensuring we were settled. The cabin itself had everything we needed and we'll be booking again

Visited with young family, two under 1yr and a toddler, and the grandparents. Charlotte was very helpful in organising additional Baby Chairs and Travel Cots to save us space in the car which is a premium when travelling with kids. Lodge was very comfortable inside. Deck was well maintained and the retractible parasol over the outdoor table was great to keep the kids in the shade. We made full use of the BBQ, the venue provided food for feeding the swans/ducks and the views from the Jacuzzi during the sunset were great alongside the provided candles & evening fairy lights. In terms of the immediate local area we visited the wildlife park and also a local farm. The onsite restaurant meal we had on the Sunday evening was also pretty good but be mindful that it closes quite early for food. All in all a good 3 days with family and I’d definitely consider going back. Thanks Charlotte 👍

This was a beautiful stay, I didn’t want to leave the view of the lake was just so gorgeous to wake up to and watch the sun go down. It was so clean and had everything we needed to have a lovely stay

It’s an absolute delightful experience here :) we would give it a 10 star review if we could. Would love to go back in the future. The location is wonderful, so pretty everywhere, with lambs, chickens, horse and lots of lovely animals around. Sian is such a lovely lady, who is always welcoming and so very friendly. Our daughter played a lot with her, collected eggs with her and fed the chickens and goose together with her too. We had lovely talks, and it was hard to say goodbye to her and her wonderful place. Hope we can return in the future!

Don’t know where to start….stunning location, stayed Saturday to Wednesday, weekdays were so so quiet and peaceful, perfect for some much needed R&R. Caravan was exactly as described, light and airy, spotlessly clean, comfortable lounge area, well equipped kitchen, shower was easy to use and more powerful than most other places I’ve stayed, my husband and myself and 2 friends enjoyed every minute and will most definitely be returning in the near future. Kate was very helpful from start to finish and always asked if everything was ok? Everything was more than ok, highly recommend this accommodation, thank you Kate, so much, for a lovely stay
