The Bear Cub Cabin

EvanRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
From the moment we first arrived, my newlywed wife and I absolutely fell in love with this cabin. Sitting just a few hundred feet northeast of the pinnacle of Sharp Ridge and overlooking High Knob to the east, this little mountain retreat is a close friend to dazzling sunrises and a bejeweled night sky, winding Allegheny roads and the sarcastically-named Dry Run, a whole host of critterkind and the timbers wherein they make their homes, yet a stranger to civilization, the worldwide web, and—of course—blue waters. In our case, we wanted to disconnect from the technocracy in which we live and exclusively spend quality time with one another immersed in the beauty of nature, and we could not have dreamed of a better spot. Despite the isolation, the charming town of Franklin is only a fifteen-minute drive away and has plenty of groceries, gas, restaurants, and that all-important cell service. As I wrote in the guest book, West Virginia stole our hearts and this cabin was the mastermind.

We had an excellent stay in this cabin. It was quiet and private but still close to things we wanted to do. The little walking trail on the property was great. 10/10 would stay here again.

Best views in Highland County !

Oh my, if you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded stay, you’re in for a treat! The noise of the world was quieted in this pristine location, surrounded by rolling hills, pastures, a big open sky, and farm animals. Don’t expect to find much to do in the area, this is simply a retreat, away from the busyness of life. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay here, particularly the quiet mornings on the porch overlooking the beauty and the evenings in the hot tub watching stars and being surrounded by almost complete darkness. We had a lovely chat with Kevin the first morning that we were there - he is very authentic, kind, thoughtful, and comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate returning to this gem!

Modern Upstate Cabin, near Rhinebeck NY

Our second time staying at Maitopia with our cat, just as wonderful in a different warmer season. Tina was super responsive as usual and even accommodated a late checkout. We enjoyed feasting in the kitchen as well as grilling in the yard, floating around in the pool when it was warm enough out, "hiking" with our cat on a leash around the forest on the property, taking baths, streaming music. We didn't leave the property much, but it was a fun highlight to get a few local produce items at nearby Greig farm and meet the adorable goats. One tip- bring an eyemask if you're sensitive to light in the mornings- there aren't any window shades in the bedroom.

Small lake house on Lake Erie shore

JoyceRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Spent every night with the windows open listening to the waves crash on the rocks just below our windows. This place is really special. If you and your partner are looking for a unique get-away, book this now -- it's amazing and exactly as pictured. The weather was cool and windy for June so we didn't kayak or swim as planned, but honestly just sitting in Adirondack chairs, reading, sipping wine, and enjoying the amazing view was all we needed. Steve & Natasha are great hosts - they live up the hill, and I'm sure would help with anything, but it also feels very private at the bottom of a short cute path. They had fantastic restaurant recommendations, and we walked to many of them. SO many wineries in the area if that's your thing, and lots to hike if you head out to the island or hit the trails. Make no mistake, you are ON the water -- it's sooooo cool!

Copper Flat Cottage

JessicaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The cottage was the perfect little getaway for our anniversary trip. It was clean and cozy and Jessica added a lot of really sweet touches that made us feel right at home. The location feels private without being too far from local amenities. It was quiet and relaxing. We stayed here primarily to visit Gettysburg, which is about half an hour from the house, but there are also several small towns a bit closer that had stores and farms and other cute places to check out. The listing was exactly as described and besides our own groceries, we really didn't need anything else that wasn't already there. Definitely would stay here again!

The space was super cute and clean and had everything we needed. Did some fishing, relaxed in the hot tub, and ate at a couple of local restaurants, The Wellwood, and The Forge. The only thing we didn’t enjoy, was leaving! Looking forward to going back! ❤️

Le Hygge with hot tub

MaxRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I can’t explain in words how magical it feels to be in a glass house in the middle of the woods. You’ll have to experience it for yourself. So nice to get away for our anniversary and spend a couple of days away from it all. The house is the cutest and coziest Airbnb I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in ALOT of airbnbs. Kitchen is overstocked with things to create beautiful dinners, which my wife and I enjoyed doing. The bottom floor which has the bedroom and bathroom is mirrored, so you can see out, but you can’t see in which adds that next level of privacy. Without a doubt the best Airbnb I’ve stayed in, in the US AND Canada! 🇨🇦 we will absolutely be back, sooner rather than later!

Element House - Off Grid Hideout

BenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Really enjoyed staying at Alan's place. It was the perfect getaway for me, everything at the cabin was very well thought out. Comfortable bed, plenty of firewood, all you really need! Plus - How many Airbnbs have you stayed at that includes AllClad pans and sharp knives? Enough said... One thing to note, there are two other locations on the property for guests - wasn't an issue at all for me, and might even be a bonus for others. Not within sightlines or anything. Alan also has a slick web app you can interface with to get information about your stay, and even get a little breakfast. You could tell significant time was spent organizing and building a good space for guests! I'd definitely stay again!

The Waterfall Casita: A-frame with 30ft Waterfall

JennifferRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The Waterfall Casita was beautiful, well equipped, clean and offered lots of privacy. The view to the waterfall was breathtaking. Perfect to relax, connect with nature and get a break from the daily hustle. Would’ve loved to stay longer! We were able to cook meals without any difficulties, the fridge though small was more than plenty of room for the essentials we brought. Jenn was kind, available and communicated quickly without disrupting the peace and privacy. The information about local places and instructions were clear and helpful. Would love to stay again!

From the beautiful scenery surrounding you and the sound of the river below, you can feel the stress melt away. The cabin was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Catherine is a great host and very accommodating. We will definitely book again when we need to recharge and plan on trying to book in the fall because this place has to look amazing when the leaves start changing colors. Thanks again Catherine for a wonderful place and can’t wait to come see you and this wonderful place again.

Forest Cabin Retreat | Hot Tub & Creekside

CarrieRating, 5 stars5 days ago
This cabin is amazing. As soon as we walked in we were in love, and I said multiple times over the few days we were here that I wished I could live here. It is beautifully decorated with a nice mix of retro and modern. Kaitlin was amazing before our stay and gave us lots of ideas on things to do, which we did a lot of! She answered questions we had during our stay as well. She really did think of everything and put a lot of thought into creating this space and making sure it had everything we needed while we were there. 100% recommend Kaitlin and her cabin to anyone. We will definitely be back!!
