“We loved staying here! The place looked even better than we had remembered from the pictures. It’s the perfect location if you want to do Volcano National Park in the early morning or evening. We showed up late at night and had no problem finding the place / getting inside. Carolyn was quick to respond and helpful with anything we needed!”
Fiddlehead House is a cozy and charming retreat on a private half acre of lush Hawaiian rain forest just minutes from Volcanoes National Park. Featuring a luxurious indoor/outdoor shower room, a wood burning stove, skylights throughout, comfortable heated beds, full kitchen, a sunny dining area and serene lanai (covered deck) - this space is perfect for couples or families seeking to enjoy this stunning part of the world.
“We arrived in the dark but had no problems with entering the home. The beautiful home has cozy furniture , lovely artwork and tiny treasures on the window sills. The snacks and coffee and tea were appreciated on our late arrival. We were a part of 4 adults and the 2 bedrooms with the heated mattress pads worked our great. I was the only one brave enough for a early morning shower with the doors open. So worth it. In the morning we were able to sit at the kitchen table and view the beautiful greenery and the visit from the chicken. Wish I could have stayed longer and put a log in the stove and curled up with a book.”
ATTENTION: Due to Covid-19 restrictions in Hawaii County, we are currently not taking any new bookings for dates between now and May 31, 2020 Hale 'Alalā is named after the highly endangered hawaiian crow being reintroduced to the forests around Volcano. Only 20 of these birds exist in the wild. The cottage is situated in the rainforest and barely visible from the road, making this a private retreat that's just a 5 minute drive (3.3 miles) to the entrance gate of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
“I stayed with my family at Hale Alala for one night while we were exploring the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The cottage is very close to the national park and is located in the lush green rainforest. It is extremely clean and well-maintained and the decor is exquisite. I wish we had more time to spend at this cute and cozy cottage. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Volcano, just make sure you get in during the day because it can be hard to find in the dark.”
