we had a wonderful stay. if you forgot to bring something, it will more then likely be there. close enough to a store if you need something but yet far enough away that it was private. some of the trails could have been marked better. once we figured it out, no problem. i would recommend staying here if you want quiet time and four wheeling.

Nice private cabin. Access snowmobile trails from the camp. Good driving distance to Sugarloaf for skiing. Owners were accommodating for early check-in. Only issue was getting out of the driveway after a heavy snow. Not a normal issue, but something to take in consideration for your trip.

Jayne's cabin was perfect. It had everything you needed. It was private and the decor was perfect for a maine getaway. We had a great time atv'ing. The trails were great and we loved the area. Can't wait to go back! Thank you, Jayne.

A perfect getaway in Maine!

This place is perfect! The cabin is just as described, with everything you could possibly need. It's down a long driveway and very secluded, surrounded by woods. We went for a long snowshoe just in the back woods and it was beautiful. With snowshoeing in the backyard, Mt Blue State Park nearby, and Black Mt nearby for alpine skiing - this is an excellent winter getaway! Jayne was an amazing host, always quick to respond and to answer any questions we had. Thank you!

The Cabin was amazing and exactly as described. It had everything we needed, was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. The beds were super comfy and the location was just perfect. Having no WiFi was actually a plus. The evening visits from wild Dear were the icing on the cake and completed the perfect trip. My Daughter and Son-in-Law would love to return in the Summer.

Great place to unplug and relax!

We had a great stay in this cozy cabin. It is off the grid, so no electricity or running water. There is a super spacious outhouse, well water pumps right into the kitchen sink, and a bag shower is provided. Candles and oil lamps in the cabin provide enough light at night. The cabin is secluded and quiet. It is up a dirt road with a couple other houses further up the road. They are not visible from the cabin. The hamlet of Carthage has an ice cream shop where you can buy ice for your cooler. A little further away, Weld has a well-stocked general store. We found plenty of hiking and kayaking opportunities in the area--there is a great list of area attractions in the guest binder. Thanks for everything, Aranka!

This cabin and its surroundings are very special. The cabin itself is absolutely enchanting. Indeed, as described in the listing, it is off-grid living. There is no electricity, and you have to use an outhouse and solar shower. Beyond that, the cabin is very comfortable. The king-size bed in the bunk room featured a very comfortable mattress. The seclusion of the cabin makes for purely silent nights of sleep, except for the occasional owl hooting and wolves or coyotes howling. The cabin is located in a level 6/7 dark zone, meaning that it is one of the darkest locations on the planet, making for excellent star gazing. The Milky Way is easily visible and I witnessed several dense meteor showers, and even a bright green fireball on 7/22/2017. There is a window at the head of the bed that lets in the morning light, revealing a beautiful view down the small valley between the ridges. It is often filled with fog in the early hours, giving the sense of being in a cabin in the clouds. The great room has additional sleeping space: 2 bunks and a pullout queen futon. The futon is very sturdy, and very comfortable to sit and read on, as is the gliding rocker. The dining area has a large table with 4 chairs, and can be extended to sit more for large meals. The kitchen is very well outfitted. There are 6 sets of plates, bowls, etc, Plenty of pots and pans, including 2 pots large enough to do lobsters and steamers simultaneously, if that's you're thing. Also a percolator and pour-over coffee maker, plenty of fresh herbs, and a well-stocked pantry. The eggs are incredible. The front porch is nice to sit on in the mornings as the sun hits it. As is the back porch in the afternoon as the sun lowers in the sky. There's a picnic table and fire pit in the back of the cabin that are well-secluded. The outhouse is not what you would expect an outhouse to be. It is huge, and very clean. I am a wheelchair user and stayed here for 34 days. I had no problems moving around in this outhouse even in a wheelchair. (Disclaimer: this cabin is not actually wheelchair accessible. It can be, but you have to be a beast). The area around the cabin is dense with trees, featuring quite a lot of hemlock. I think the cabin itself is constructed from hemlock. In July it was plenty warm during the days, but still got chill at night, even down to the high 30s on a couple nights. The wood oven proved useful on these cold nights and is very easy to control the burn rate with the flue. Wildlife is everywhere. I saw a bear, about a dozen moose, plenty of deer, a wild cat, foxes, porcupine, river otter, lots of chipmunks around the cabin, 100s of monarch butterflies in the valley, owls, osprey, bald eagles, wild turkeys, turkey vultures,...

Cozy cabin in the woods perfect for a retreat back to nature!

If you are looking for seclusion and a change to recharge in nature, this is the place for you. While relatively easy to drive to from throughout New England, the cabin in none the less very remote. Do expect all that comes without potable water and electricity. It's great to step into a space where simplicity is the order of the day, and peaceful quiet rules the night. Aranka was a great host and I can't recommend this location enough.

Heidis' place was amazing! The cottage was exactly what I needed for a weekend getaway! The screened in porch and bedroom both look out onto the lake with mountains in the backdrop. It's so beautifully scenic. The lake was warm, the kayaks were a blast, and the bed was oh-so-comfortable! Most importantly, though, Heidi was an amazing host! From homemade breakfast to tips on hiking to wonderful dinner conversation, it felt like we were staying with family. Definitely recommend.

This place is a gem. We stayed with our two kids and all had a blast. From foraging blueberries to kayaking in the lake to ladder golf to card games to the outdoor shower, Heidi's place has it all. Heidi and her family are as warm and welcoming as can be. They helped us make the most of our couple days on the lake, included us in lots of their fun, and let us have our own time to enjoy their special spot. We made some priceless family memories this weekend and look forward to returning to make more. Highly recommend Heidi and the "wee-bear" cabin.

My partner and I loved our stay at Annette & Dusty's tipi. The tipi itself, though very cool, is almost ancillary — it's the environs, with multiple spots to hang out by the river, swim, relax, or stroll around the wooded river's edge and mossy lawn — that really made this spot special. Annette and Dusty were lovely hosts, as well, making sure that we were comfortable, providing us with a campfire, and directing us to a nearby general store for coffee & breakfast.

Nice calm spot by the river. Close to Mt Blue State Park and other trails. Dusty and Annette are very friendly and gave us some good advice on trails to do with a dog.

This place is truly a hidden gem. It sits at the foot of Bald Mt. (near Weld) just a few hundred yards from an idyllic pond teeming with trout. It's short drive from Webb Lake and Tumbledown Mt. Spend your days hiking, fishing, barbecuing or simply lounging in Julianna's beautiful back yard surrounded by super lush greenery without a hint of the urbanized world or the stresses it brings. The house itself is large (three stories), has a great kitchen, a cozy living room, two pianos, an impressive collection of interesting books, three very comfortable bedrooms and first and second floor decks with beautiful views. You will not be left wanting. If your looking for an excellent value in pristine Maine forest, this is it.

Fran's place is everything a traveler could need! This is the cleanest Airbnb I've ever stayed in. We were on a road trip just passing through so I didn't do much in the area, but we l loved how quiet our morning was on the private deck. The mattress was so comfortable! Spacious, clean and supremely comfortable. Fran is a hands- off host, but she left many kind touches in the room which made us feel welcome. For example, there is a little breakfast bar and little refrigerator with juices, water, and even a serving of Chardonnay! The bed was amazingly comfortable. There was quite a bit of road noise throughout the night, but we still came away rested and restored.

We came up for a very short stay at Fran's before a backpacking trip. Although we never met Fran, her presence was felt as she was very accommodating! The room was exactly what we were looking for and the small breakfast she left for us was delicious! She was also easy to get in touch with when we had a slight hiccup in our plans. We will definitely be back if we're hiking in the area again! Pro tip: make sure you go stargazing, the sky is very clear up here!

Fran is available for questions or a chat if you wish, or she will allow you to have peace and quite in this gorgeous space. Her description does not do this space justice! The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. WiFi is available (no tv, just bring your tablet if you must or games/cards to play). Fran left multiple options for a quick breakfast. A toaster oven, mini frig, coffee maker and tea maker are in the quite large and beautiful room. She left some bathing supplies and other amenities such as a hair dryer as well. My dog was very comfortable here as well. Located about 30 mins from many locations such as skiing, Mt. Blue State Park, Rangley Lake State Park, Mooselookmeguntic Lake, Upper Richardson Lake, Grafton Natch State Park, many points on the Appalachian Trail, the eastern edge of The White Mountains and the NH state boarder. Wonderful overnight, weekend stay or get a way!!!

Our Hosts Cathy and John made us feel welcome from the very first contact and so graciously upon our arrival when they invited us to their porch for conversation. The cabin was perfect - cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed boating each day and especially loved soaking up the morning sun sitting on the dock. We would definitely plan to stay here again soon!

Everything was even better than described, and we absolutely loved our 5 night stay. Catherine and John were both very nice and welcoming. We found a guestbook in the cabin dating back to the 60's for different places they have rented out. If we come back to the area we will most definitely be staying with them again!

The small cabin on an extremely quiet lake is described and pictured exactly as it is in real life which is always a huge plus. Our hosts were very courteous and pretty much left us alone the entire time which is also a big plus.The setting is rustic but if you're from a rural area with dirt roads, you'll be used to the drive and setting. I'd visit again.

This cottage is a great relaxing getaway. Kayaking in the lake is a great activity and BBQs are a must. We would recommend bringing games and a good book to make sure you make the most of the relaxing environment and Katie (the dog is very friendly). Remember to bring bug spray.

This was such a great experience! Catherine and Jon made us feel comfortable and welcome, but also gave us space. Everything in this description rings true. What an extraordinary find! Unbelievable scenery and a private lake - we couldn't have asked for a more secluded little spot to spend a few days. Varnum Pond really is stunning and it was great to have access to the kayaks for some paddling on the sunny day we had! Catherine and John were kind and helpful and the cabin had everything we needed.

Catherine and John (and their dog Katie) were incredible hosts and the cabin (and location) were exactly what we were looking for. The lake is crystal clear and serene, and there were hardly any other people around. We felt like we had the lake to ourselves the entire time we were here. We swam, we used the kayaks, we jumped off the dock, we waded around near the shore where the lake is quite shallow. The cabin is perfect with plenty of room for me, my wife, and two daughters. The pictures don't do this place justice! We can't wait to go back!

We had such a wonderful time at the cabin. Sierra provided so many nice touches that we had everything we needed. The property was incredible and the lake was so clean and quiet. I have never been on such a pristine lake before, you can see all the way to the bottom even in the deepest parts.

We stayed at Sierras cabin for a couple of nights and absolutely loved it. Photos don't do it justice! We spent both mornings drinking coffee by the dock and it was so calm&peaceful, we enjoyed using the rowboat on the lake and the overall tranquility of the place! Less than a 10min drive to Farmington but at the same time, very quiet and peaceful. We didn't want to leave!!

This cabin and the property it is on are a little bit of heaven here on earth. Thank goodness for air BnB. Because without it it's unlikely we ever would have discovered this perfect little getaway spot in the backcountry of Maine. The cabin is simple- with a comfy bed, small fridge and kitchenette. There was a hot plate and a single electric burner provided, which was more than adequate for simple meal prep- we actually ended up using the outdoor outlet to set up our meal prep station out front on the lovely porch, which allowed us to fry up our eggs and bacon in the morning while enjoying the singing birds and the clean, cool breeze. The lake is crystal clear, and only a stones throw from the cabin door. We had access to several kayaks, a bass boat and even a sunfish sailboat (only because we had prior experience. Make sure to obtain permission before using because sailing is deceptively difficult). When we weren't splashing around in the water, or floating on top of it ,we enjoyed watching the loons and other wildlife do so from the dock. Sierra was incredibly kind and helpful, and John, the grandfather, was gracious and welcoming. We did have a little miscommunication regarding the dog policy, though, as we had thought dogs were okay based on past reviews and the fact that there is a dog on the premises. Looking back now, the listing clearly states no dogs. Our dog is a 9 month old husky pup with an other-worldly amount of energy, so needless to say she overstayed her welcome pretty quickly. Though the grandmother, whose name I didn't catch because she was too busy freaking out about the screen door our dog ran through (oops!), was a bit reactive, Sierra quickly got in touch with all parties and straightened out the issue. Besides this little hiccup, though, this trip was probably the dogs favorite to date, with lots of room to run around, plenty of birds to swim after, and a friendly female spaniel (Katy) to play with. I don't know how hard line the no pets policy is or will be, but I would advise future travelers to clearly discuss any animal issues before hand to prevent confusion. All in all, we couldn't have asked for more. We can't wait to find another time (perhaps in the fall once the foliage starts to come in) to enjoy a relaxing stay on this gorgeous property. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin, which is on a scenic secluded mountain top with beautiful view of forest in the back. The cabin has been renovated beautifully with show pieces from all over the world. The cabin is powered by solar power and a backup generator. Rick mentally prepared us for what we were signing up for - an adventure and it was a beautiful adventure. Cabin taught us to be thoughtful of the energy we use, so we used candles and kerosene lamps throughout our stay - adding to our unique experience! There is hot running water, which made our stay more comfortable. the cabin is about an hour away from Sugarloaf and about 15 mins from another local ski resort. The cabin has a lot of board games, DVDs and books if you are looking to just stay in and enjoy the scenery. Additionally, Liz and Rick were a wonderful host. They provided us with an introductory walkthrough when we checked-in that was super useful throughout our stay. We would love to come back and spend more time in the cabin.

Great place for a quiet getaway. Close to farmington which has some really fun bars with really nice people. Not too far from sugarloaf mountain which was the main reason we chose this place.

Perfect stay on a perfect lakeside cabin in Maine. Rob and Beth thought of everything for our stay in a super well equipped cabin. Beautiful, quiet, and tranquil lake, yet having all the modern amenities in the cabin allows one to enjoy Maine without having to deal with those rustic camps and their drawbacks. We enjoyed canoeing and hiking every day and also waking up to the call of loons every morning on the lake. Would definitely stay again!

We couldn't have been happier with our experience. The cabin and surrounding area was amazing - quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We wanted to get away from it all and was not disappointed. We had an absolutely great stay at the Guest Lodge. I was exactly what we were looking for. Whether it was canoeing on the lake or hiking on the trails it was all very relaxing. The fall foliage was outstanding and I do not think we could have timed it any better. Rob and Beth have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. All the amenities that the Guest Lodge provided, added to a great week. Thank you for keeping the Guest Lodge pet friendly as our dog Nala enjoyed her stay also. The kid had a very good time with the animals and the children of Jeff and Morri. They are friendly, nice and warm. The RV is clean and comfortable. They even provide us some fresh chicken eggs. I have to say, those eggs are much better than which sold in supermarkets.

We had an enjoyable stay in Phillips. Jeff is very friendly and his place very relaxing.

We had a wonderful time. Jeff and his family were very helpful and friendly. We felt welcomed from the first minute we arrived, in fact we were sad to have to leave. Phillips is a very small town with a huge heart. I truly believe that Maine must have the nicest people in the county. We never felt like a stranger. The local market had very reasonable prices. The country side was breath taking. The alpaca were awesome. It was something that we will never forget. I have already shared my story with so many people. If we ever return to Maine again we will be booking with Jeff and his family. Jeff is also a very talented artist and shared his talents with us by welcoming us into his home. They were there for what ever we wanted or needed without being in our space. We felt so comfortable with our hosts and their life style on the Alpaca farm. At night sitting around the campfire staring at the stars was priceless. Eating fresh picked apples and having fresh made apple juice was delicious.

My stay at Alpacaville was fun and refreshing. Although Jeff is still getting his trailer set up with all the amenities, any rough edges were smoothed over by his friendliness and the charm of his wife and family. Also, the alpacas are great!

The camper was a lot of fun. We have family in town so we used the camper for just sleeping over, but the views of the sky at night and the rooster waking us up in the morning was so worth it. We didn't get to explore the land this time around, but we will definitely be back when we have a lot more time. My kids loved the animals and the trampoline. I loved the quiet. Couple things to note - we had zero cell reception (we have Verizon... other providers might work with Jeff's micro-cell tower). It was about a 30 min drive to Farmington so plan your day if you're not going to cook at the camper. Overall it was a fantastic experience and we're anxious to visit again! Thank you for being attentive hosts!

The value was tremendous and we loved staying at Alpacaville. Jeff was easy to be in touch with before our arrival, and was there to greet us when we arrived late at night. He let us know if we needed anything, not to hesitate to ask, but also that he would stay out of our hair if that was our preference. When we had trouble starting a fire the second night, he came out with newspapers to help us out, which was greatly appreciated. The animals were lovely: beautiful but shy alpacas, friendly goats, various breeds of chickens, some sort of pheasants, a loud rooster, ducks, bunnies, a crazy turkey and a sweet, watchful dog. The views were incredible, such a stunning sight to wake up to and appreciate while having a cup of coffee. The location was a perfect starting point for us to head to the Rangeley lakes region, the reason for our visit. Along the way, we stopped at the breathtaking Smalls Falls (recommended by Jeff) and got a brisk swim in. We went on a seaplane tour of the area, highly recommend Acadian Seaplanes, and ate at Sarge's Sports Pub & Grub, which was quite good. We then went to Quill Hill for the most stunning mountain top vistas, followed by a long drive through the Carrabassett Valley. Staying at Alpacaville is well-worth your time, just don't expect hotel accommodations. I'd say it's like half-roughing-it. Sort of like camping, but with basic modern amenities like running water and electricity. Be prepared to bring all that you need for food, drink and camping supplies, as the camper is very basically stocked. Jeff recommended nearby Edmunds Market, which we popped into, to pick up some provisions. For me it was the perfect cost-effective lodging option, so that we could splurge on a few things, like the seaplane tour, and still have a great little getaway. We look forward to our next visit to Maine and would definitely stay at Alpacaville again.

Had a wonderful stay at Cheryl's place! The home is large and beautiful. Beds were comfy, check-in/check-out was easy, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans to cook for the group. Would definitely recommend for a large group! My only criticism is the internet (very slow). If you need to do more than a quick (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) search you'll have some frustrations.

My group and I had a lovely and relaxing stay at Cheryl's house in Mexico, ME. The charming farm house was the perfect location to get out of the city and enjoy the country side. The owner is very easy to contact and responsive as well as the host who lives not too far who was able to help with all of our questions about nearby amenities, stores and questions about the house overall. Friendly innkeeper and a lovely, historical inn! Ann Marie was a gracious host, welcoming and informative. The inn is a charming brick mansion, which Ann Marie has tastefully decorated. Her wonderful collection of dolls and teddy bears are scattered throughout the rooms and common areas, adding to the charm. My daughters and I stayed in the adjoining Ludwig Bemelmans and Margery Williams rooms. Both rooms were cozy, comfortable, and inviting.

We had a very positive experience staying at the inn, loved learning about the history of the house and all of Ann Marie's plans, which include a restaurant downstairs. Our accommodations were very comfortable and Ann Marie provided toiletries which were appreciated. It was the only Airbnb that provided a breakfast, which was a great plus. We wish her and her family every success.

Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway. Ann Marie was a very gracious host that took care of us the minute we arrived at her home. The snacks, drinks, game room and the comfortable beds were some of our highlights. The town is relatively quite, sparse and leaves much to be desired if you're looking for a lively environment or places to dine. If we're ever back in the area, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

One word: thoughtful. Ann Marie is a gracious host who has thought of EVERYTHING to make your stay convenient and welcoming! She has extra toiletries, a simple but much appreciated continental breakfast, laundry, towels- everything you could need to feel taken care of. You'll wake up to a bright, comfortable dining area to relax in. The house is definitely a historical gem. When I walked in I could feel just how much life had been lived in that home, past and present. Ann Marie let us choose our room based on our comfort and we opted for the room with the twin beds and never felt an ounce of spiritual malice. For those looking for more excitement, I might suggest the room with the queen bed which had a bit of a heavier weight when I walked into it. Our stay with Ann Marie was fun, she's full of life and really loves this home!

Our trip to Mooseley Ridge was one that we will not soon forget! Upon arrival we were met by Jannette the caretaker for the home, she was both friendly and knowledgable about the property and surrounding town. She also offered us her assistance for anything that we needed. The home was decorated with cute "wood cabin" decor which was both comfortable and homey. The house was very neatly kept and had all the amenities one could hope for. . As far as location, we decided to come to Maine for the fall foliage especially at Acadia National Park (which is 3hrs away) However, Mooseley Ridge and surrounding areas had many beautiful and unexpected scenic surprises starting right in our backyard. The pathway and stream located on the property was our favorite place to take a morning walk. Small Falls (off route 4) and Rangeley Lake State Park were also a few of our favorites. There was also a grocery store/gas station about 5 minutes down the road which was total convenient.

We had a great stay and thanksgiving. Kitchen had everything you need to cook a big feast. Beautiful property. Only wish we had more time to take advantage of some winter outdoor activities as there is no shortage of things to do in the area. Must be a great time in the warmer months as well. Hope to make it back sometime. Would be an excellent place for a family gathering or with multiple couples and friends.

This space was perfect! Clean & spacious. We loved our stay at Mooseley Ridge, and felt extremely comfortable. There was a big book of hikes, fishing spots, kayak rentals, etc, so we knew all of the fun things Phillips and surrounding areas had to offer. Rangeley is a short drive away, and the market down the street had the most friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Mooseley Ridge was the best Maine vacation I have had to date! The house had everything we could possibly need and more. It was hot the week we visited and Hans ensured we had AC in a couple of rooms in case we needed it. The house was exceptionally clean and well taken care of. We felt right at home. The property was also excellent! There were walking trails, ATV'ing, swimming all on site! The stream was an absolute magical and peaceful place to spend time. The location was also excellent with plenty of things to do within 30 minutes distance: hike, swim in waterfalls, boating, shopping, restaurants! EXCELLENT PROPERTY and an EXCELLENT HOST!

We had a wonderful stay at Hans's place in Phillips. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and there was plenty of space for five of us to relax and enjoy the evenings after a day of skiing. Would definitely stay here again next time I am in the area with friends!

Decided to stay at Ann Marie's B&B for a week due to the proximity to work. Ann was great with communication for my arrival. The room I stayed in was very clean and neat. She was attentive and responsive to any work related concerns I had. There is one seafood restaurant/meat market, a diner/pizza place, and dunkin doughnuts on same street as inn very close by, also 3-4 miles up road is super wal-mart. I ended up extending my stay for the duration of my work project moving to another room. Notes for guest staying: Bathrooms are shared- 2 full bathrooms(1 with shower/1 with Footed tub) and 1 half bathroom though I never had issues accessing one when needed. Cellphone signal is Verizon only for me in Dixfield township. My ATT phone is completely dead on signal there.

Ann Marie has carefully refurbished the old house she loves with her vintage collections displayed to advantage. She has an eye for the comfort of guests and makes herself available to help with every need.

A beautiful and elegant B&B with all the comforts of home. Stayed in Dixfield as a half way rest stop returning from a trip to the Maritimes of Canada. The home was very grand and full of history. Love the renovations. Ann is a fantastic host and great communicator.
