Alaska-tough made yurt: the Alaska version of a traditional Mongolian nomadic home. Yurt life is much more connected to nature than conventional accommodation; connect to your surroundings; the sky, trees and song birds thru the skydome. If you need fancy accommodation, need to be catered to, if you do not enjoy the woods, do not stay here. If you want to experience rural Alaskan lifestyle, are independent, enjoy being immersed in nature, enjoy peace and quiet, you will love it here:)
** PLEASE READ THE PROFILE IN FULL BEFORE YOU MAKE A BOOKING. THIS IS RURAL ALASKA AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR READING THE PROFILE ENTIRELY FOR SAFTEY REASONS. THIS YURT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE** Alaska-tough made yurt: the Alaska version of a traditional Mongolian nomadic home. Our yurt is in a quiet neighborhood 3 miles from of the village of Talkeetna, surrounded by forests, lakes and rivers. If you would like to explore the village of Talkeetna it is about a 45 minute walk, $5 taxi ride or to have your own wheels (car) is preferable. Ski trails in the winter and running/biking trails in the summer in all directions. Comfy, cozy and heated with woodstove, enjoy being close to nature and watch the stars, aurora and woods through the skydome from bed. We are walking distance to an organic coffee shop/cafe, (Flying Squirrel Cafe) which provides a locally grown vegetable farm stand in the summer. If you are looking for a shower, your best bet is at the Talkeetna Roadhouse, where you get unlimited hot showers, fresh towels and all shower essentials for $5.(Call roadhouse to check their current schedule, all information provided upon arrival to the yurt) The roadhouse is also well known for hand made pies, absurdly large breakfasts, climbing paraphanalia, fireplaces, decades of National Geographic magazines and travelers from all over the world (as well as grizzled locals). Welcome to rural Alaska! Where even taking a shower is a social event! The yurt is a small, one room home with a porch and propane grill. Perfect for a couple. Electricity, but no running water. Facilities (the restroom) are an old fashioned outhouse. No shower. Our yurt is not fancy; but is a slice of the satisfaction of rustic Alaskan life, near civilization, but not quite there. Find out how comfortable you can be, simply. Relax in a quiet neighborhood, a short distance from the village itself. The Talkeetna area has an array of activities; hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, ziplining, canoeing, backcountry access, jet boating, flight seeing and during the winter skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and ice fishing. Talkeetna is the starting point for Denali/McKinley expeditions, and is famous for our close up, open views of the entire Alaska Range and Denali. The village has a number of restaurant options; pizza, brewery pub, coffee shop, old fashioned roadhouse style cooking, high end lodge dining and a selection of gourmet food carts in the summer. Your host Brian, is the head brewer at the Denali Brewing Company and can advise you on fresh, local brews. Talkeetna is well known for its lively bar, music and arts scene. Every Friday, May thru August, the Denali Arts Council hosts live outdoor music in the downtown park. Don't forget to support local artists at the craft market, artisans cooperative. Come experience the quirky community of Talkeetna; a village 14 miles at the roads end; where life begins! Visitors fall in love with our town and never want to leave. Enjoy some real local style accommodation and let your hosts point you in the right direction to enjoy your stay in rural Alaska. Languages; Working knowledge of French and Spanish. Fluent in American Sign Language We are sorry to say that our yurt is not ADA accessible The yurt, porch, grill, outhouse, kitchen, hammock, bonfire pit are all yours! Light breakfast provided (bagels, cream cheese, jam, milk, coffee, tea) upon request We are likely nearby to help orient you if you would like, but otherwise the yurt is an self sufficient abode. We do enjoy meeting people and sharing information about our area, but understand if you would like to left alone! Near the village of Talkeetna, but far enough away from the bustle of summer visitors in a quiet neighborhood. Boreal spruce and birch forest. We have built a private trail to a pond out the front door, and can point you in the direction to a trail that leads to the Susitna river You be happiest and have the most flexibility if you have your own car. As in the rest of Alaska, public transportation is a challenge; community efforts have created a shuttle service from the village to the health clinic and grocery store, with stops as requested along the way. There is also a local taxi service; $5 to town from the yurt. There is bus service to Talkeetna, as well as rail service from Anchorage or Fairbanks. To get from the bus stop or train station to the yurt is approx 2 miles. Please contact us if you have any requests or questions, we are more than happy to share information with you. ~The bed is handmade and 4 feet off the ground (see photo). If you have an injury or limited mobility, it could be difficult to access the bed. ~The outhouse has no door, IT DOES NOT NEED ONE. it is common in rural Alaska to not have a door; it increases airflow and decreases moisture build-up. It is private land, you will NOT be seen by anyone. Please let us know if this is a problem for you!

  • Delightful yurt! Everything I needed was right there. Thank you!

  • Rachel gave us helpful information about what to do in the area and how to manage various aspects of staying at the yurt (we've stayed in many before). The yurt itself had what we needed except for kindling, firelighters, a sharp knife and wine glasses and corkscrew. Generally, the place could be spruced (pun intended) up. For example, the outhouse is fine, but it would be great if the seat were fixed down. And, in the yurt, if there were some kind of arrangement for blocking the light from the skylight for sleeping (the lovely previous guests who had not left by the time we arrived in the late afternoon gave us a great tip).

  • Super cute yurt in a great location!

    Scott2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's yurt is a great place for getting away from everyday life. It's quiet, secluded, and a very unique space. I'm sure the place is equally great in summer but we really enjoyed just being in it with the fire burning, an experience unique to winter I'm sure. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and doesn't mind nature watching you when you use the bathroom!

    Brian2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was very helpful and responsive with great local recommendations. The weather was questionable during my visit and she made sure that I was comfortable with the "rustic" style of the yurt. Talkeetna is a great town with lots of delicious beer and food. Wish my trip was longer but will definitely come back! And the yurt was extremely comfortable. I spent the weekend before in a back country public use cabin. The yurt is a whole new level of comfort. It was wonderful not to have to worry about packing all of the right gear for a trip, while still feeling like I was out in nature. Definitely going to be yurt-ing it up again in the future :)

  • We LOVED every aspect of this place! Visiting Talkeetna in the winter (Winter Solstice, to be precise) was a daunting thought but we were up to the adventure. The yurt was SO comfy and cozy and a wonderful place to stay while exploring around Denali and Anchorage. We were warmed by the great wood stove as we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of Talkeetna. The town was quiet, as most of the shops were closed but we did go out to Denali Brewery in town, Mountain High Pie for pizza, a pub and a cafe. The food and drink in Talkeetna was AWESOME and the locals were so friendly and helpful. Every single part of our stay was more than we had anticipated and we are already planning our next trip back!

    Aika2016-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great trip. My second time in the yurt and it was really comfortable and we had beautiful weather! Thanks for everything!

    Sarah2016-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt offers an idyllic retreat! On its secluded setting in the woods, you are able to relax and breathe easy. The wood stove takes any chill out of the air and quickly makes the yurt very toasty. The deck is a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of tea and the gardens growing nearby really make it feel like home. Talkeetna is really a charming little town and it would be easy to linger there.

  • It was super relaxing. I would for sure use this place again.

    Leslie2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous little cabin! You can tell a lot of thought was put into building this home, really beautiful wood and iron details. Short distance from downtown, nice private little spot, Diane made everything very easy for us, she gives great directions and is easy to get ahold of. Would definitely recommend to anyone stopping through Talkeetna!

    Cheechako2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is bright, clean, warm and cozy! We had a great winter weekend - Diane was easy to reach and very accommodating. It's a quick drive into town and the property is private and scenic. Great spot to relax with family and friends.

    nikki2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was everything we wanted! The lake was beautiful and peaceful. My son didn't have much luck fishing in it, but that didn't matter because he got to cruise around on the canoe. We saw a mama moose with twins across the lake from us a few times and one night a brown bear ran by. While some might not love having bears nearby, it comes with the territory and it felt like a privilege to see one. At the time, we were inside looking out through the big windows. The cabin had plenty of comfortable sleeping for our family of 5. We also had a great time in Talkeetna which is only down the road. Diane was a fantastic host and we look forward to coming back soon.

    Heather2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed. This place is a real find. The cabin is lovely, cozy, and has all the amenities in an idyllic setting. Diane really cares about her guests and this was evident in her attention to all the little details that make you feel welcome and your stay a pleasure. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.

    Jim2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great little getaway cabin for us. Four adults and two toddlers worked very well.

    Tomas2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cabin, made for a relaxing place to stay while we enjoyed Denali In the winter.

    Elic2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a great place to stay as has plenty of room for everyone. It's in the middle of a secluded forest and you hardly hear from the neighbors. The hostess is polite, accommodating obviously has a keen attention to detail because the cabin is made to be a temporary home.

It may be old and tiny, but this cabin is budget friendly and located one street off Main Street right in the heart of downtown Talkeetna. Queen and full sized beds, satellite TV, kitchenette and 3/4 bath. Covered porch. Walk to rivers and shops.
  • Great location! We felt welcome and slept with no issues on our one night stay. Would be great for longer stays too as all cooking equipment and a fridge is provided. A*

  • The Fun and funky Blue Moon Cabin is a wonderful retreat! Plenty of room and very comfortable. We had a hard time leaving! Sarah was there when we arrived and was very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone!

    Jonathan2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend the Blue Moon. It was a wonderful cozy, warm retreat during Alaska's "shoulder season," within reach of Denali State and National Parks. Works well as a launching pad for hikes and explorations as well as a retreat. Sarah was helpful and available and the town was delightful. Everything is within walking distance -- as everything seems to be in Talkeetna!

    Jodie2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this cabin. The cabin is very comfortable, with everything you need and super cozy. The covered porch is perfect and hard to leave! The location can't be beat, and the short distance from the main street makes for a better night of sleeping. It is not fancy; it was fabulous and perfect for us.

    Heide2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second trip to the Blue Moon Cabin, and it did not disappoint! It's in an excellent location--within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the river front. The covered porch was cozy and we had a wonderful stay.

Located 3.9 miles from downtown Talkeetna, the Moonflower sits on a private, 1.3/4 acre wooded lot in a residential neighborhood. Kindle a fire in the outdoor fireplace and watch an Alaska evening pass and wake to the sound of birds in the trees.
  • This cute cottage was perfect for me and my family. Surrounded by so much natural forrest . Warm and cozy interior. A firepit outside and downtown talkeetna only five minutes away. The host was so hospitable and helpful with any information I needed. Also, lake Christensen is right down the road and great for taking a small fishing boat out. Highly recommend!

  • We had a great stay and Sarah was easy to work with. Everything was just as promised and the home was ready for us when we arrived. Great value and great place to stay while in Talkeetna! We would definitely stay there again!

  • Sarah and the Magical Moonflower Cabin was awesome! Extremely clean and everything was exactly as advertised. Sarah was very responsive and we had our booking confirmed within moments of submitting our request. Will happily stay there again or at any of Sarah's other properties.

    Peter2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second year at the Moonflower cabin for a winter get away. We really enjoy the location and amenities the cabin offers. Sarah has always been responsive to questions and we will be back next year!

    Danielle2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great value and nice, simple accommodation. We had a fire and played some cribbage with some beers in the front of the house.

    Robert2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's cabin was great! Would/will totally recommend to others. If ever making another trip (I'm sure I will this winter), I will definitely look up the Magical Moonflower.

    Madison2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • I have been to Talkeetna several times. Sarah's cabin is where I will stay every time in the future. Her beds are comfy, the shower nice and hot. Sarah has outfitted the cabin with everything you need for an extended stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the internet works well. I love the woods surrounding the cabin for excellent privacy. Yet town was only 5 minutes away. A++++++!!!

The Stone Hut is located on the Out of the Wild property and includes the use of the deck, fire pit, and lawns. The Stone Hut is two floors, with kitchenette, two baths, and three rooms. Beautiful Alaska Range views including Denali. Quiet.
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Brian & Katy's Stone Hut! What a great way to start our Alaskan adventure! Our party consisted of two couples and the accommodations were just right for us. The views of Denali were amazing at sunset and it was just a short drive into Talkeetna.

    Brenda2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was great. He met us at the house to hand over the keys. He gave us details of the area , places to eat etc. House is good for 2 families and great views of Denali from the back yard. I will recommend the property.

  • Amazing place, service and location!

    Pedro Miguel2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Stone Hut!!!!

    Scott2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay . Well designed , comfortable, nice location. Perfect for what we two couples needed.

    Michael2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Location and communication were great. Steve and Katy made it very easy. Beautiful view of the Denali range if the weather holds up. This is probably a great place to stay in the summer when you can hang out outside. However, we were surprised to find that the Stone Hut has a very limited kitchenette and no common space to hang out in during a winter stay. The level of cleanliness was also very disappointing.

    Caitlin2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very tastefully decorated house with gorgeous views. However we were a little disappointed with the cleanliness. For example, the coffee mugs in the kitchen had lip stick marks, our bed on the first floor had hair all over.

    Pranam & Anuya 2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and cozy. Great location near to Talkeetna. Clean with everything you need. Super organized and check in and out was easy and hassle free. The hosts were very responsive. My only small caveat is that I would recommend that it's perfect for a group of 4, but I would not recommend that a larger group stay for more than one night.

Remote and private but accessible cabin for two with a view of Denali and the Alaska Range. Located 6 miles from Talkeetna. Available May through September. This is perfect for those wanting privacy with a stay in the woods away from the crowds. Moose commonly cruise the area.
A great view of Denali out the cabin windows or from the front porch. This is for one or two people since the cabin has one queen bed. There is a kitchenette and full bath.
Charming hilltop cabin in the woods near Talkeetna with a tremendous view of Denali and the Alaska Range. Quiet and private with wildlife often wandering through. The same view of Denali at the Talkeetna lodge is 400$!
  • This cabin was exactly as described and exactly what we were looking for. Remote , yet close to main road and restaurants. Bed was comfortable, lots of pillows, very clean, soft towels , all the basic essentials, even a supply of coffee and milk. We saw moose right outside the cabin on 2 different occasions. Mike was very knowledgeable about the area , gave us some hiking locations to try and Denali input, and was even kind enough to lend us some bear spray "just in case" .Everything about this place was thumbs up !!

    Mark2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was sparklingly clean and everything inside seemed brand new. The shower was warm. There is a mini fridge, kitchen sink and microwave. There is a bedroom and kitchen area. Mike is very friendly and helpful. The view of Denali was spectacular every day of our stay. There is a gravel road up hill which our little Subaru cross trek rental handled with no problem.

    Cheryl2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was very friendly and great to chat with. The cabin itself was very clean and new. It had an AMAZING view of Denali, just like you see in the pictures. Pictures never do it justice though. This is a great place to stay if you want to have some privacy in your stay in Talkeetna.

    Ryan2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Molly's cabin was absolutely perfect! The view was amazing, it was located 7 min from Talkeetna, and both Mike and Molly were extremely communicative and responsive. So enjoyed my all too brief stay, and if I'm ever back in the area, I'll undoubtedly look them up!

    Brittany2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is so peaceful and is in a great location. I wanted to stay for a lot longer!

    Betsy2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place was lovely, the bed was comfortable. A great little getaway in a 1 bedroom cabin in the woods... There was only an electric skillet and a microwave to use to cook in the cabin which worked out fine but we didnt know until we arrived (Heads up for future vistors)..! We never met with Mike as he was out of town but his wife was very helpful. We were notified day of that we couldnt check in until 6pm which was hard to kill that much time but Mike helped with a few suggestions. Definitely visit downtown Talkeetna....

    Eric2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's cabin was perfect spot to start our Alaska landtour. Amazing Denali views and small cabin was toasty, comfy, and clean. 5 stars.

    Ruben2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning view of Denali! Cabin was clean and well appointed. Anytime I communicated with Mike before the visit he was quick to respond and very helpful. We arrived early to Talkeetna and Mike suggested we check-in early, which worked perfectly for our schedule. The cabin is secluded, but with the directions we were given you could not miss it. Cabin is less than a 10 minute drive to all the action in downtown Talkeetna. Overall highly recommend staying here!

  • We loved Talkeetna and Sarah's place. Location was great, and the home was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We especially appreciated Sarah's helpfulness and friendliness. When I lost my phone, Sarah went out of her way to help. She searched her home, walked over to a nearby coffee shop we had visited earlier, and even called the local radio station who had broadcast that a phone had been found. We would definitely stay at Sarah's if we return to Talkneetna.

  • Quiet and secluded, but only 2 minutes from everything. Very comfortable accommodations, would recommend. Talkeetna is pretty interesting.

  • We wanted to add a night to our stay at one of Sarah's other properties (see review), but it was booked, so she allowed us to stay in the Summer Suite instead, then move upstairs the next night. Super cute cabin, rustic, well-appointed, and very close to Main Street, where everything happens in Talkeetna.

  • This cottage was the perfect setting for our Talkeetna adventure. The cottage itself is right downtown, and has tons of space for a group. It's cosy, well stocked and the bed was so comfy! Sarah was a great host and her communications were quick and thorough. We had a blast in Talkeetna - the Fairview Inn, Denali Brewing Company and Conscious Coffee were great spots within a very short walk.

Close to Mt Denali, biking trails, fishing lakes & rivers. You can catch King salmon, silver salmon & world record rainbow trout. Also close to the airport, nightlife, restaurants & bars. You’ll love my place because of the views, the high ceilings, the location, the coziness, 4 wheeling trails, hiking & biking trails. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families, groups, and pets. It is a dry cabin with an outhouse. Water/showers & laundry is available in town.
This is an amazing space which is still a little unfinished but is super clean. There is an oil heater throughout the house which keeps it warm and cosy throughout the winter.

  • It was a good place, the stove warms the location nicely and we were provided with more then enough firewood. Not too far from the town with more then enough room for many people, we saw 4 beds. The location does not have running water but does have a gas stove so take this into account.

  • The cabin is large with a great fridge and stove. Plenty of room and a very nice wood stove. It's quiet and private!

  • Great experience! Randy is easy to work with and honest. Cabin is accurately described in listing. We enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an extra night.

  • The view on the way to the house is amazing! Its a big place back in a woodsy neighborhood (the neighbors are just close enough to see but its still feels nice and private)

The Guesthouse uses the top 2 floors of a 3-story Alaska-style home. Note that the guesthouse is above an apartment rented separately. The house is on a beautiful river-side property with a great view and is located walking distance to town. The house is clean and comfortable. The front stairs lead you to the private entrance and main floor of the house. Main floor has living and dining area, full kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs, 3 bedrooms (one with a private bath) each with a queen bed.
The living and dining area have large picture windows for viewing the river. The yard is spacious with a nice lawn and picnic tables. The owner was a Denali climber in the 70s and there is some climbing history around the house. The guesthouse is good for couples, families, and small groups.
The Eye of Denali has a great location only .75 miles from town. You can easily get to town by walking, biking or driving but you have a large space away from busy town.
  • Quite honestly this place was even better than our expectations if your into a somewhat remote, comfortable, cozy, and beautiful surroundings, also within driving or biking distance from a quaint and neat little town, we most certainly recommend this beautiful property.

    Shane2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super place to stay. My family of six were comfortable and all wished for a longer stay. We were heavily scheduled with tours and failed to capitalize on the delightful property and its proximity to downtown Talkeetna. You reccomendations were spot on and we had a great but far to short stay. Thanks for letting us use the EYE OF DENALI!!

    Wayne2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for 6 people (2 couples and 2 singles) and a nice walking distance into town. We would have liked to stay more than one night because the place was so cozy and convenient! Highly recommended for larger groups.

    Seija2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Eye of Denali was even more beautiful than the pictures. The home was extremely well furnished. We really loved the wall hangings with explanations of each piece. Christina was an exemplary host. She always responded quickly and thoroughly to messages. She made sure that we were comfortable on arrival. Christina's knowledge of the area really helped in planning our days/meals. I highly recommend The Eye of Denali and Christina. Hope we get a chance to see her and Alaska again ourselves.

    Dale2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Overall good experience & location was just a mile from town. We would stay here again.

    Linda2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay. They had six bikes so we could all ride into downtown Talkeetna together. The place was clean and spacious with a river view. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing we would've liked to know was that the property is right by a train crossing so we could hear the train's horn throughout the day. Great place, great location!

    Karissa2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were a family of 7 that stayed here for a night. Very convenient and nice place. Christie was very responsive not just as a host but also to help book other activities around Alaska.

    Kamal2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Christina was very accommodating with out last minute booking. The location was good but there was a musty odor in the home most likely because it's older. Overall it was ok with the windows open.

My place is close to Downtown Talkeetna, tourist attractions, dining, rivers, the airport and Alaska Railroad depot. You’ll love the Guest House because of our affordable rates and great location. Guests enjoy full house and kitchen, family activities and free use of bicycles. Discounts for flight services and zip-line are available to our guests. Accommodations are great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and pets. I look forward to meeting you.
The house is spacious and clean. There are areas to accommodate both privacy and social gatherings.
The Guest House is located on a quiet street right on the edge of downtown Talkeetna.
  • This was a fantastic experience at a fair price. The guest house had a great feel and was perfect for my trip.

  • Thank you for hosting us on our trip. We enjoyed the accommodation and the ambiance was amazing as well. The bikes were particularly handy :). Cheers!!

  • We really enjoyed staying at the Northern Guest House. The house was so fun and comfortable, and in such a great location we will definitely be coming back. Also, I'm a sucker for a spiral staircase - and it was dog friendly!

    Courtney2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and unique home with character. Amazing collection of books and games for families. 3 full bedroom and baths that can easily accomodate upto 9 people. Kitchen with basic utensils an added bonus. Great communication with host for smooth checkin and checkout. Particularly appreciative of the host to have allowed us to collect some items we forgot in the guesthouse later during the week. Great value for money.

  • Great place to stay. Wish we had more time to spend here.

    Venkatesh2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay here with a group of friends (7 adults and 1 infant). The house was clean and cosy with everything that you would need. The decoration and furniture were all homely and cabin-style. Paula was very helpful and accommodating. It is in a great location for exploring Talkeetna (walking distance). And we drove to Petersville for the snow machining trails. Lots of room at the house to park multiple trucks and trailer with snowmachines. Overall, the perfect spot for a weekend getaway, and I would highly recommend it.

    Orla2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pet friendly Lots of movies Piano Ping pong Close to everything!

    Tina2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very well located, walking distance to Main Street and all Talkeetna attractions and tour agencies, but in a quieter residential block. The owner is also very responsive. We arrived at the house around 11 pm on the check-in date and she promptly helped us get the keys. We rented the entire guest house: 3 rooms with 3 bathrooms. Note that the bathrooms are in a corridor close to - but not "inside" - the rooms. They were equipped with toilet paper, shampoo & conditioner. That was great! We did not cook so I have no specific remarks about the kitchen. The living room has a ping pong table and a piano. The kids enjoyed them a lot! Paula also let the kids use her bikes! Definitively a plus! Now, what could be better: Mattresses, pillows, blankets, bed sheets and towels' quality are just OK (not top quality); Wi-fi is not available and our mobile coverage there was very poor. Finally, we were 5 (3 women with long hair!) and the day we all decided to shower in the evening, there was no hot water for the last one. But, all in all, we had a pleasant stay.

The Mountain House is custom built by the owner with open beams, spacious rooms, and lovely views of the Alaska Range from the living room and two of the bedrooms. There is a deck, covered porch, fire pit, and ample parking. Enjoy the privacy!
The Mountain House is located five miles from the charming town of Talkeetna. It is possible to ski out of your door in the winter, and take walks in the private neighborhood during the summer. There is a fourteen mile bike trail that runs the length of the Spur Road, and miles of maintained lake trails nearby. Enjoy the quiet of our location, and occasional visits by moose, fox, eagles, and ravens.
Our neighborhood is a private and serene setting with about a dozen homes.
  • An absolutely stunning property. From the pictures we were expecting nice. This place was unbelievable! We didn't get to meet Katy but Brian was an absolute delight. He was incredibly kind and helpful. He even shared a few stories about climbing Denali and Everest with us, so cool! If you're looking to take in the sights of Talkeetna, it would be a mistake not to stay here!

    Kevin2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great home in the hills. 4 Wheel drive would be required for winter.

    Tom2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a lovely home. The view from the deck was great, very relaxing! The owners let us use their freezer since we had a fishing trip the day before. If you need anything Martha is very helpful and available if needed. Overall it was a great house. Excellent pictures to take home!

  • The place is great and has excellent views of Denali. The place is only a few miles from town of Talkeetna from where you can do flight tours, etc. The hosts are really responsive. They also bought muffins for us for breakfast.

    Rohit2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this home! You could see the Alaska Mountain Range from the porch. Just beautiful inside and out. Very short drive to Talkeetna for dinner. Had plenty of room for all of our family to sleep. The bedrooms were spaces and 2 of the rooms had pull out couches. We would stay here again and probably will soon.

  • We are a group of 5 over 60 yo from Tampa Florida who stayed here 7/8/17- 7/15/17. This is the largest of three vacation rental houses on the property. We could see the other houses & did share the patio/grill with others. That was not problematic for us as we all like to meet other people. Talkeetna downtown is just a few minutes away. We went there twice but as it is the summer, it was crowded with tourists. We did have good pizza at Mountain High Pizza. We were also able to fly to Denali (Mt. McKinley) with a glacier landing with Talkeetna Air Taxi. The men went fly fishing with a guide but it seems this was not the time for fishing in the area as no one caught anything...but they had a good time trying. The house has a big kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, range/oven, coffee maker. Some staples were there. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room w/spectacular views of mountains (on clear days), laundry with half bath. Upstairs is master with ensuite (tub/shower combo), 2 other bedrooms with shared hall bath (small shower). Leather furniture in the living room, 4 poster beds while the master bedroom looks like a castle with a canoe frame hanging from the ceiling. Lots of pictures/decorations related to mountain climbing as Brian is a climber. Martha greeted us upon our arrival & then finished up cleaning the house. She was one of 2 cleaning people who we saw during our stay. We also met Katy, the owner and saw her husband Brian & nephew around the property. All were very informative, patient with all our questions & willing to talk to the Florida folks as time allowed. We had some minor plumbing issues which were handled promptly when reported. And by promptly, I mean the same day. While the area is quite scenic, it is up a gravel road that looked a bit challenging the first few times we went up it. But after a week, it was not so bad. Cons: the weather turned hot--in the mid-upper 70's & none of the windows on the first floor open. We opened the doors when it was really hot but as there are no screens on the doors, flies came in. Upstairs we all used fans in the bedrooms but then you have to leave the windows open to cool down & then there is the light coming in if the curtains are not in place. Not that we expect air conditioning in Alaska. It was certainly doable & we all were able to sleep. There is a fuel oil heater in the living room that smells of fuel oil. After we noted this, Martha turned on a ventilation system that brings outside air in which helped somewhat & then we turned a fan directly toward the heater which also helped. We were advised there was nothing that could be done about the smell, it is common with the heater. There seems...

A cozy haven in the heart of Alaska. Drive your car, ride the train, or fly up for the weekend. Stroll downtown, gaze over Denali, pick up groceries and settle in for an intimate dinner in a beautifully accommodated, unhosted cabin.
This cozy cabin is perfect for families, musicians, pilots and romantic getaways. Great for family holidays and intimate dinners. The kitchen is fully outfitted with lots of extras. We have a king size bed in the first bedroom, a double-size bunk bed in the guest bedroom, a brand new full-size sleeper couch with a luxurious memory foam mattress in the living room for flexible sleeping arrangements.
Talkeetna is home to the convergence of three major glacial rivers, which makes for great excursions, whether by air, land or by water. At a minimum, we recommend you choose one flightseeing tour and one river tour. Other activities in Talkeetna include zipline tours and fishing. There are also several great trails in the area to explore on your own. Just outside of town, you can walk to the waterfront and marvel at the mighty Susitna River. On clear days, enjoy views of the Alaskan Range and Denali (Mt. McKinley) as the backdrop. Also be sure to walk around downtown Talkeetna where you will find several quaint shops, local breweries, restaurants and more.

  • We had a wonderful stay in the yurt! It was a very rainy night and hearing the rain on the roof while we were cozy in bed in the yurt was fantastic! The bed was cozy and the hosts had left us some snacks. The private bathroom is super close to the yurt and clean and convenient. We do don't see a single soul during our stay and we really felt like we had the place to ourselves. It's in a beautiful remote location but very close to the cute center of Talkeetna where there's a bar, lots of little shops. Parking was easy and there was a binder full of good advice in the yurt. Definitely recommend the Flying Squirrel. The yurt had a cool bohemian vibe and is so much nicer than staying in a generic hotel room. Loved it!!

    Lorna2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a quiet night in the yurt and stayed warm and cozy. The setting was lovely with the fall colors and the sauna was a welcome treat after several days of hiking. Talkeetna' a charming town in a beautiful setting.

  • Such a cute lodging option in Talkeetna. Not right in town, but totally walkable. We loved it. Great for our quick stay.

    Brittany2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the yurt! It was very comfortable, just a short walk to Main st. in Talkeetna, and in a great little neighborhood. There's no running water in the yurt, but they have a water dispenser and have done a nice job of creating a little off-grid sink set up. There are picnic tables and cozy reading chairs around the property, and the sauna is awesome. The kitchen and bathroom are close by and well equipped, though sometimes the walk to the bathroom in the rain is a pain. All in all, we had a great stay! The hosts were very receptive, answered questions promptly, and were welcoming when we saw Mary on the property.

    Aubrey2015-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • the yurt was cozy and the sauna was ab-fab. eastside is on the right side of the tracks to enjoy what talkeetna has to offer and then walk back and get a peaceful sleep.

  • We had a great stay in the yurt! Very comfortable and clean. The property was well maintained and Marne was accessible when we had questions. She gave great recommendations on local eateries and places to check out. There are allocated parking areas and bathrooms for each yurt and cabin. Some of the cabin folks did use our restroom but we didn't mind, it comes with the territory when sharing common areas - like how we accidentally parked in the cabin spot when we first arrived. The power went out for a few hours in the morning, which was out of Marne's control, we took freezing cold showers because we had to check out by 11am! I guess that is part of the Alaskan experience. I would recommend staying here.

    Cat2013-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the yurt! It was a cool, cozy space - much larger than we expected, and it was fully furnished with multiple heaters, mini-fridge, water cooler, refreshments, and snacks. The bathhouse was clean and nice - and we had so much privacy even when there were other guests staying. Marne and her family were so welcoming and awesome - Marne manages the coolest bar in town (Fairview Inn) and showed us an amazing time while we were there! If we're ever back in Talkeetna, this is totally where we'll stay.

    Kelsea2014-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our first time in a yurt was a magical experience! It felt perfectly cozy and quaint. We loved the quirky decor and how it felt like we were in a deluxe tent in the woods. Surprisingly roomy! The place was clean and smelled so nice. It had good energy. With all the window coverings up, it was like a tree house. With all the windows dark, it felt like a mysterious cave clubhouse. The ceiling was so cool, like a huge sunflower. The lighting was perfect, how nice to have internet! Nice to have water, fan, and other amenities on hand. I liked having the bathroom separate; it afforded more privacy and kept the sleeping space more sacred. The surrounding gardens and lodging were very pretty and peaceful. We could walk to all the town attractions and riverfront. We saw the mountains! It never got dark, even past midnight, which was so surreal!

We are located in East Talkeetna which is about a 15-20 minute walk to downtown. Since all the beds are upstairs it is not easy for elderly folks to navigate. However, There is a single couch/bed on the main floor in the living room area. Also there is only one bathroom on main floor. There is plenty of space to spread out and play both indoors and outdoors. The yard is fairly private and a great place for children and dogs to play. It is also a short walk to the river and trails.
The space is unique because it is large with a big yard. It is a nice walk to downtown Talkeetna taking about 15-20 minutes. There are many windows which is great if you like the long sunny days. However, if you need it dark to sleep there are blinds on every window with black out curtains in the bedrooms. Rainy weather days are somewhat cool so the monitor heater can be turned on anytime. There are easy directions written on it. There is wifi and Apple TV.
The neighbors have 2 dogs and have an electric fence to keep them in the yard. G Street has a fair amount of traffic so dogs and children must be supervised. The other neighbor is a drummer but does not practice much.
  • First off Jody's house is AMAZING! it had enough room for all 5 of us and seating too! Far too often at AirBnBs don't have enough seating but this AirBnB does!! Leading up to our stay Jody was very helpful with recommendations of things to do in Talkeetna in the offseason. While it was very cold, our trip was made all that much better with Jody's warm home waiting for us at the end of the night! I would highly recommend Talkeetna Supreme for your stay within Alaska's interior!

  • The place was comfortable for our family of 4. There is a bathroom downstairs from the master bed area which is at the top of a staircase. Master area does not have window coverings on all windows so light does come in early. Lay out downstairs is nice with small table to read at and eat. Two chairs around it. Kitchen has stove and microwave and coffee maker and coffee and filters are provided. Fridge and cookware also which is very useful with a family. We would recommend this unit. It is attached to another place. It had a lovely feel and the location of the cabins is great in relation to the town. There is wood outside but don't think you can use the wood-burning stove. Parking is easy outside the unit. The yurt is not as comfortable and the beds soft and pillows large. It is still adequate for a stay but you have to be prepared to walk across the yard a short distance for a shower and to use the bathroom. Bit tough with kids if they or you need to use toilet at night. Both areas are quiet. For a stay in Talkeetna this makes a good choice.

  • I would highly recommend a stay at Eastside Cabins! The Suite home was as described, comfortable, clean, spacious, a lovely home in a lovely neighborhood. Mary was so accommodating and responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to visit Talkeetna again!

  • Did not see host until next am but door was unlocked with keys on the table. Everything was as described in listing. Location within walking distance of Talkeetna restaurants/gift shops etc. and we walked past K2 airfield which was very interesting to the males in the group (one an air traffic controller). We were 5 adults, Mom and Dad, 2 grown sons and wife's sister. Plenty of beds for the five of us. Enjoyed stay. Located next to other rentals-no scenic views/water or Lakes etc. within view. Thanks

  • I can't believe we've never stayed here before this! It was great, and so close to everything. You're a half block off main street which makes it extremely convenient. The loft was cozy and the small kitchen area made it easy to bring leftovers back. The grounds were nicely maintained. We'd definitely come back!

  • Got to stay one night at the Window Tree in Talkeetna. Sarah was a great host and the location could not be better for taking in the town. Highly recommend!

  • Sarah was very nice and welcoming. Good location.

    Fran2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is the right place for you if you want to spend most of the time outside. If not, you will miss comfortable chairs and armchairs as well as a dinner table. The bedroom is o.k., the kitchenette rather basic. Perfect is the location: the center is just around the corner.

    Gisela2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late and left early - so couldn't spend much time - but the place was clean, but Sarah was very helpful in coordinating arrival and accommodating in general. The place was clean and surroundings beautiful! Location is also perfect for Talkeetna and close to Denali. Highly recommended..

  • This place was very clean and quite. Very close walking distance from shops and restaurants. The host made us feel very welcome and was quick to respond to emails/texts.

Cozy Family friendly home in quiet, woodsy neighborhood near downtown Talkeetna; complete with trampoline, swing set, children's book library, toys, bicycles, yard, bonfire pit and endless animal shows on Netflix.Full home, everything you could possibly need yet still in the quiet of our beautiful boreal forest. PLEASE NOTE THIS HOME HAS TWO SETS OF STAIRS. IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES THIS HOME MAY NOT BE THE BEST FIT
Our home is comfortably arranged for small groups and families with children. Inside is set up for child safety, play areas and staying comfortable in inclement weather. There are also two porches; one covered and one uncovered. The Arctic entryway room, plentiful clothing hooks and shoe heaters make our home a great place to relax after exploring our great outdoors. Outside, you will have your own yard, fire pit, bbq, 3 acres of woods and a safe neighborhood cul de sac for kids to play. You are also welcome to the fruits of the garden and the plentiful berries. The local library is in walking distance, via our neighborhood road and the bike path, which extends for 14 miles and is popular for biking, walking, jogging, dog walks and even roller blading. There is also an organic bakery/cafe in walking distance. Talkeetna Lakes Park has as system of year round multi-use trails (skiing, biking, hiking, jogging) as well as canoes, a swimming, fishing and lake docks. The trail head is one mile from our home. We often walk or bike to the park.
Our neighborhood is a very desirable area in our community; easy accession towns and trails via car, foot, Snowmachine, taxi, bicycle, yet in a quiet, boreal forest away from the bustle of the tourists in town. The Lovelee neighborhood is very safe; kids play outside in the woods and in the cul de sac, and we have our own community trail to the Susitna River. Neighbors are around if you need help, but it's easy to feel you far away from anywhere. We do have an abundance of wildlife in our yard; watch out for moose, wolves, foxes, brown and black bears as well as a variety of birds. We love that we are so close to town, but in such a quiet, friendly neighborhood
  • Rachel was a fantastic host! Everything was exactly as advertised or better. The location is great -- close to town and even closer to Flying Squirrel Bakery. We highly recommend her lovely, cozy home!!

It was the perfect place for our group, the kids had plenty to do, there were kids books and toys, even a little play kitchen. Super cute house, very clean, everything we needed and more. Great kitchen, everything we could imagine needing for cooking an entertaining. Uniquely decorated, lots of wood detailing, plants, Alaska books, and unique decorations form around Alaska and the world.Cozy warm atmosphere, beautiful wood stove and nice touches around the place. Even saw a moose nibbling in the yard the first day!

Welcome to our Talkeetna home. This fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bath home is located a short mile-and-a-half from downtown Talkeetna. The two-acre lot backs up to an undeveloped 20-acre parcel and has a very private feel. The house is within easy walking distance of the biking, hiking, and skiing trails of the Talkeetna Lakes Park. This home features a very spacious master bath including a large jetted tub. Radiant in-floor heating keeps the place cozy and evenly heated.
A large, retired, fully enclosed chicken run in the backyard can function as a kennel for dogs if needed during the stay.
Quiet, friendly, and spacious woodsy feel.
  • The most pleasantly surprised I've been with an Airbnb! A wonderful cabin in the woods that's really more of a house. It felt spacious throughout, cool and thoughtful features. Great lighting and numerous windows make for a great feel. Comfy beds and linens. The hosts try to preempt any needs you have that may pop up. Also, very responsive and easy to communicate with. Peaceful setting in the woods, newer construction, nice property and proximity to Talkeetna. Great for a couple or small groups. My boyfriend and I said we want to come back. Recommend!

Our cozy home in the woods sits on a trail system that connects all major points of interest in Talkeetna. Cross Country skiing, walking, mountain biking and running are all right out our door. And we're just 5 minutes from downtown by car or taxi.
It's really, really comfy. The perfect spot for a dinner party after a day of adventure outside. Or relax before heading in to town.
Our home is in a hilly forest with a trail running through our property. A 7 mile loop takes you past Christianson lake and the Talkeetna River Overlook Trail. The Talkeetna Lakes Park is only a mile away and has a great trail winding through 5 lakes and hills, fun for walking, running, mountain biking, swimming (that's right), fishing, canoeing, and stand up paddle boarding.
  • A lovely space for relaxing in a quiet, secluded place even though you're so close to restaurants and other attractions. We had a peaceful stay.

Private and quiet location, and just a couple miles from town. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Talkeetna! Will be back in the future!

    Gina2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place was great! It's a three-storey cabin in the woods that has everything you could need. Generous supplies of all the essentials and a very sensible (and economical) contribution system to cover using some of Tim's own stuff (like Coke, beer, etc). Very comfy beds, super-efficient heating so we were never cold. It's just a short drive into town for the activities there (we flew Talkitna Air Taxi to Denali and the Ruth Glacier - sensational!) Glad to be able to come back to Tim's place to warm up. Definitely recommended.

  • The house was close to town but out far enough to feel secluded. The owner has done a good job on communication and having the necessities there.

  • We loved Tim's place! (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps got us there easily, and the house had everything we needed. The house is quiet and private in the woods but is very modern and very clean.

A beautiful haven in the heart of Alaska. Drive your car, ride the train, or fly up for the weekend. Stroll downtown, gaze over Denali, pick up groceries and settle in for an intimate dinner in a beautifully accommodated, unhosted home.
This cozy two-story home is perfect for families, musicians, pilots and romantic getaways. Great for family holidays and intimate dinners. The kitchen is fully outfitted with lots of extras. The piano, board games, fire pit, strawberries in the summer gardens, and herbs in the greenhouse, make it easy to want to extend your stay. We have a king size bed in the front bedroom, two new full-size beds in the back bedroom, a brand new full-size sleeper couch with a luxurious memory foam mattress downstairs, and two very comfortable and thick twin floor mats for flexible sleeping arrangements.
We are off the beaten path, but just a 20-minute walk from downtown Talkeetna's restaurants, shops, and the beautiful Talkeetna River (one of the best views of Denali). Trail access, fishing, skiing, zip lining, dog mushing, snowshoeing, and hiking are all close by. We are three blocks from the airport's transient parking and air taxi's, so you are close to your plane or able to jump on that last minute summit flight to Denali. (And if you are on the fence about a flight-seeing tour... do it. You'll be changed forever.)
  • Conveniently located for exploring the Denali area, this lovely, well appointed home was a delight to stay at. Shannon was prompt in communication and. left clear directions/ details to assist with the stay. The backyard fire pit was great for relaxing after a day of sightseeing and wandering.

  • My wife, 2 month old son, parents, and sister (6 total) all stayed at the Easy Street Chalet as part of our first vacation in Alaska. Simply put, this place was everything we were looking for and more! Shannon was incredibly communicative throughout the booking process and during our stay. The residence and surrounding property was exactly as described and had more amenities than I've ever experienced with an airbnb. Bottle of wine upon arrival, fire pit with a small bundle of wood, fixings for s'mores, fresh herb garden with jarred herbs for use in the cupboard, a charcoal weber grill, and complimentary coffee to name just a few. There is also a good amount of baby gear stored in the closet, most of which my son was a little young to utilize, but would be super useful to some families I'm sure. My wife, baby and I slept in the guest room upstairs, my parents took the master bedroom across the hall, and my younger sister used the futon in the downstairs living room. The house is about a 10-15 minute walk to downtown Talkeetna as well which was nice. Overall, I highly recommend Shannon and her beautiful Chalet as an easy going, clean, and well equipped place for families, couples, or small groups of friends staying in Talkeetna.

  • It was a pleasure staying in the cabin! It is lovely, an easy walk to town, clean, and spacious. I did not meet the hosts, but communication with Mary and Marne was great and clear. They left detailed information on the cabin as well as the surrounding area. The roku was a bonus, too. Would highly recommend staying here! Thanks for such a nice stay!

  • It was not easy to find a place to accomodate our five people in Talkeetna and luckily, we found Marne's cute carbin. It is such a comfortable, warm and private place to stay within walking distance from downtown. Though it might be a little bit crowded for five people, it was a great choice.

    Yue2014-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to spend a day, night, or weekend! Marne has the coziest cabin with plenty of comfortable beds, WiFi and Roku, and a sauna right next door! Downtown is a 3 minute drive away and even walkable in a pinch. Best of all, when we needed a place to stay in a pinch, Marne got back to us in 10 minutes. She's a very attentive host and I'd recommend anyone to give her your business.

  • The Cabin was nice and just as the pictures depicted and a little more. they had another kcool tent. That i wish was associated with this cabin when i saw the add because i would have so booked that as well =). I love the town and I will most certainly be back soon and longer.

  • Our stay in Marne's cabin was fantastic. The cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable. Marne gave us some great recommendations on places to visit in Talkeetna, which is a really lovely town. (Pro-tip for the Roadhouse: the portions are twice as big as you expect.) The only thing that could stop me from staying at Marne's cabin again is that her yurt looks even cooler.

    Ken2014-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Marne was absolutely wonderful and we adored our cabin and the area around. There was a little fire pit and all the neighbors gathered and enjoyed new company, it was wonderful. The cabins are so cozy and make you feel right at home. Marne was one of the best to communicate with, so responsive and full of local suggestions. I will be staying here again!!

Freedom Hills is located in on a rise above the Susitna Valley with a view of the Alaska Range. It is a quiet, family neighborhood where people value their privacy and peaceful life. Out of the Wild guests are asked to respect the neighborhood"s privacy and peace, and to respect the privacy and peace of other guests.
  • Brian & Katy were great hosts. The Kahiltna Chalet was perfect for a trip up from Anchorage. Katy gave us tips and ideas of things to enjoy in town. The chalet is adorable and perfect for two. Unique and everything we needed. Will definitely stay again if back up in Talkeetna.

  • We loved your place! Thank you for accommodating us even though you were already booked! The view of Mt McKinley is breathtaking!

  • This was an absolutely wonderful little chalet in Talkeetna. We had such a great time and felt very well taken care of here. The pictures, while great, do not do it justice. The architecture is quirky in the best possible sense. There was both a very Indonesian and the lovable, eccentric, Talkeetna vibe going on! It was also well stocked with little goodies which we enjoyed as a bonus. Would book again in a heartbeat!

  • Such a great place! Clean and inviting! We called it the "princess cabin" all weekend because it was so cute! We loved it! Thank you for having such a nice spot for us to come to!

  • Great location and great hosts! My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Chalet, and our hosts Brian and Katy. Both are a pure delight and easy to chat with. Brian has a plethora of stories from his own adventures while Katy easy going on top of all the little details. We could had stayed up all night chatting with these two. We even took them on their suggestions on "what to do" in Alaska, and enjoyed every suggestion. The chalet is warm and inviting... even stocked kitchen with snacks, juice, fruit, muffins, and more. Easy place to stay for a night or a few weeks. Super comfy and new couch and chairs, the bed was very easy to sleep on, and there is a lovely view of the woods to look at while sipping a cup of tea at the end of a long day of exploring Alaska. When we come back, we will defiantly stay longer.

  • Welcoming host . . . Available if needed . . But they were not needed . . . Very easy.

  • Brian and Katy were wonderful hosts! The cottage was cleanly and comfortable, with lovely decor, felt very homey. They had food for breakfast, which was a wonderful surprise. I would come back and stay again, close to Talkeetna, didn't get to explore the area very well, but easy to find none the less.

    Caitlin2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little get away cottage, very nice clean and private. There are a few other "houses" at the property like Stone House and Mountain House, I forget the other one. Had a blast staying up a little too late with a group of retired Marines and their brides the first night down by the fire pit. Only a few minutes outside of town. Would highly recommend.

  • We feel so fortunate to have found Haley's cabin and for being able to book it before and after a few days in Denali Park. It's roomy, spotlessly clean, in a great location and just couldn't be any more comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped for a vacation home and the mattress is so comfortable I wish I could take it home. We also appreciated having good shades that darkened the room for sleeping during the very short summer nights.

    Wendy2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a place! A sweet old cabin that has been redone and very cutely decorated with all the modern conveniences and comforts. Comfy bed, really great kitchen, adequate bathroom with hot water! I only wish I had more time to stay there.

    Mary2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Haley was the perfect host. Very attentive to questions and everything was so simple. The cabin is adorable with the perfect location and so clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The cabin was extremely quiet as well - we could not hear anything from outside once we came in for the night. I highly recommend renting this cabin if you are in Talkeetna.

    `Michele2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a great Airbnb find! Charming and cozy cabin with plenty of space. Location is perfect! Haley was easy to communicate with and everything was great! Will definitely recommend to others and will be rebooking myself.

    Shannon2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very clean and extremely convenient to everything in talkeetna. A light bulb went out and Haley was immediately there to replace it. Communication was fantastic and we couldn't have ask for a better stay! Thank you!

Enjoy and experience the unique style of our log cabin on the lake. Rustic decoration and log cabin features a sod roof and beautiful landscape filled Alaskan flowers. Your private bath is within 15 feet of the cabin. 5 mins drive to Talkeetna Town. Unique place to stay ! The Hobbit House was featured on HGTV Mighty Tiny Houses last January 01,2017.
  • The Hobbit House was very cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was around back and Janice provided sandals and flashlights to make getting to the bathroom easier. It was also neat watching the planes take off and land and we enjoyed spending time at the lake by the cabin. The only thing that was a surprise about the Hobbit House is that it was very close to a big road. Once inside the cabin it was extremely quiet, but I was taken back that it was located so close to the road.

    Brandon2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. It's the type of place that Airbnb uses to advertise the unique rentals that you can book on the site. The cabin is right of a beautiful lake and is very scenic. Janice and her husband were extremely welcoming and accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I am in Talkeetna.

    Robert2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We love the Hobbit Cabin! Everything was beautiful with great taste. Janice met us there and showed us around. She let us borrow a boat to paddle around the lake and brought a sleeping pad because there were 3 of us. The bathroom was very clean. We had our dinner and breakfast on the deck facing the lake, the view was fantastic! I hope we can come back later and spend more time.

    Grace2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit cottage was absolutely beautiful and well taken care of. They did an excellent job of making sure we were comfortable. The cottage was equipped with a small refrigerator microwave and coffee machine. We would highly recommend staying here. We also took a plane tour around Danali, absolutely breathtaking views, a must do while here.

    Lisa2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit house is absolutely a charming little cabin. Janice has it setup to be very cozy and comfortable. The details in decor are just wow - so many fun little trinkets every angle you turn. It really made the cabin feel like a little dream cottage! She even had his/hers slippers and flashlights, bug spray and bug bed net which we used to be safe but we didn't have a bug issue (it's safer though since it's right next to a lake), many DVDs, games, coffee maker, remote controlled heater, etc. Making it very comfortable. The only thing I wish we had was more hot water. There was enough for a 5-7 minute shower for 1. Janice mentioned she was trying to get an additional heater/tank but it didn't arrive in time for our stay but we managed. It's on the way for the next guest so you should be covered. If that's a concern, make sure to check with her beforehand. My bottomline: I would highly recommend this cute cozy cabin to all my friends and family! It was truly a highlight stay during our visit to Alaska :)

  • I cannot say enough good things about the Hobbit Cabin and Janice. The cabin was exceptionally clean, the bed unbelievably comfortable, and the surroundings were breathtaking. Janice was an incredible and attentive host. She made us feel welcome and gave us great tip/recommendations on activities, places to eat, etc. I look forward to returning in the near future!

    Stephanie2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places I've been around. Totally lovely! Each detail, the scenery, the cabin were just perfect! We didn't want to go! We knew Janice and she was super kind!

  • Super cozy, low-key yurt-y wood cabin with a detached bathroom and sauna, about a ten minute walk from the main street in Talkeetna. Everything was clean and in good working order, and it was plenty warm inside despite low early winter temps. Great communication from the owner.

    Paxson2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, our 8 year old, and I stayed in The Round House one evening in September. We hiked around in Hatcher Pass and then drove to Talkeetna. The Round House is a perfect location for a night or two in Talkeetna because it's peaceful and yet only a five minute walk to town. We appreciated the full bath and the use of the sauna. The deck overlooking the trees was a lovely place to sit. Thank you for hosting us! We'll be back :)

    Lindsay2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The round house is super central and walkable into downtown Talkeetna. We really enjoyed our stay, and especially appreciated Marne’s local recommendations for food and activities. She was so quick and responsive, and we really enjoyed our time at the round house!

    Samuel2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location; walking distance to downtown. Lots of bed space. The "nook" was the hit, though, coming in second only to the sauna!

  • A perfect, quiet cabin within walking distance from town! Communication/ response time was excellent

    Amber2017-06-17T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely time in Talkeetna, and the Eastside Cabins were in a quieter, more 'rural' setting than closer to town, which we loved :) Thanks Marne and Bailie for your tips on where to go - very much appreciated :) We'd definitely come back here of we ever back it to Talkeetna again - Thanks :)

    Su2014-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is ok.

    Joyce2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was pretty and comfortable. It is very close to the downtown area and the flight seeing company offices, making it a convenient location. Communicating with Marne was super easy and he was very considerate of our requests. Will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

    Smitha2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as described and I loved the alcove bed. The sauna was an added treat that really made the stay memorable. Marne made no contact which wasn't necessary but would have been nice. Typically I get a text from Airbnb hosts asking how everything is going and is there anything I need. There was not enough toilet paper for 5 people but luckily we had our own.
