Cozy little house with a sea view in Sandvika

HelgaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Location location location... I wanted to stay in Sandvika, because my mother lived there for 20 years, so I am very familiar with the area and it feels like home. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and feels very private, yet is centrally located, and easy to walk around the area for hiking, shopping, bus/train transfers, and easy to use trains and bus to connect to anywhere quickly. We had everything we needed, and were comfy and cozy and made ourselves at home. Very comfy beds. As described, the sleeping loft has a low ceiling. My daughter is not very tall and is young and limber, and was quite happy up there, but you probably don't want someone too tall up there. Host is very responsive and clearly communicates. They live in the house next to the rental, but we never saw them in over a week, so the rental is very private. Beautiful view of the bay and lovely sunsets from the deck.

Sunny townhouse nearby Oslo

KenichiRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Christian was a great host, he was acommodating and was easily reached. The place is amazing, was as advertised and easy to find. It's located a bit far from the city (15mins away via tolls), but exactly what we want, peaceful from the hustle and bustle of Oslo. The place feels homey, the christmas vibes add to the whole holiday vibes. One small nitpicky detail is that, as mentioned by Christian, this is usually where they stay at, so as mentioned there is a bit of a clutter here and there. Noticed some unclean dishes and airfryer, but otherwise the place is great. Felt like home. Overall it's a 4.7/5 for me and my family, we had an amazing time in Oslo and a contributing factor was Christian's place! ♥️

What an amazing place and what amazing hosts! we were so lucky to come for our little girls trip (mother and two daughters) and find ourselves staying in this cosy, uniquely designed little house that had everything and more! 🤩 such a quiet location, right next to a massive beautiful park. A separate note about the hosts: Morten and Patrick are godsent!❤️ they communicated so quickly, providing all necessary instructions, checking up on us and making sure we were feeling just like home. In addition, we had an emergency at the end of our stay, but Morten and Patrick were so understandig our difficult situation, and helped us accordingly! we appreciated it so much ! we would definitely advise this place, and we are definitely coming back again 🥰

My boyfriend and I have been to Norway for the first time and very happy with this accommodation. Wonderfully quiet and beautiful surroundings. Anikken was easily accessible and was quick to respond. Especially very helpful and thoughtful, we got a lot of tips from her. We have felt very much at home here partly because of the hospitality. The cottage was also clean, cozy and equipped with everything you needed :)

Your guide to Oslo

All About Oslo

Oslo is a perfect destination for outdoor lovers. The Norwegian capital is one of the greenest cities in the world — two-thirds of it are designated protected natural areas, and its bike-friendly city center is emulated throughout Europe. You can swim in the fjord right from the city center, or get lost in one of its massive city parks. The Oslo Harbour Promenade meshes nature with urban living, with converted warehouses and cultural institutions like the Norwegian Opera and Ballet just steps from the cool waters of Sørenga Beach, where locals take plunges on summer days.

Oslo is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Oslo Cathedral and the Nobel Peace Center, and there’s no shortage of world-class museums here. Take the ferry to Bygdøy, where you’ll find the Fram Museum of polar exploration, the Munch Museum, and the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, an open-air living museum.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Oslo

Thanks to its northerly latitude, Norway is known as the Land of the Midnight Sun. Even as far south as Oslo, the sun doesn’t set until around 11 p.m. at the end of June, which means that visitors head to this capital city from June to August to make the most of the longer days and the warmer temperatures. During fall and winter, temperatures dip below freezing, days are short and dark, and Oslo is blanketed in snow, a perfect time to visit museums or the Holmenkollen Ski Jump on the outskirts of the city, particularly during the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in March. At Christmas, the city is illuminated with holiday decorations and hosts several Christmas markets with food stalls, crafts, gifts, and all-ages entertainment.

Top things to do in Oslo

Vigeland Sculpture Park

This green urban oasis with a fountain at its heart contains 200 sculptures by a famous Norwegian artist that are made from bronze, granite, and cast iron. At the highest point in the park, you’ll find a staggering monolith, carved from one block of granite and standing 55 feet tall, that features 121 intertwined human figures clinging to one another.

Norwegian Museum of Cultural History

Take a journey back in time at this open-air living museum featuring 160 buildings from all over the country that have been reconstructed on site. It’s a fantastic spot for exploring the history of Norway, dating back as far as the 13th century with the Gol Stave Church, which has its own museum and exhibition halls showcasing Norwegian culture.

Oslo fjord cruise

Water is the reason Oslo was founded, and one of the best ways to see the city is from the fjord itself. A fjord cruise takes you around some of the many islands and bays and past the Dyna Lighthouse. You’ll catch great views along the shoreline of the city’s modern architecture of the Barcode Project in the city center, as well as the beaches on the Bygdøy peninsula.
