The decor of the cottage was lovely, decorated with melanie's finest work. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. A perfect get away for couples who appreciate something a little bit different.

We moved out of London recently having fallen in love with our cottage, and we'd like to share the space. We have a spare double room with mezzanine sleeping platform, and living space underneath (with small double sofa bed) that tags onto our modern kitchen/dining area overlooking our garden. We live here full time and use the kitchen and bathroom. Manningtree is a lovely town, in the heart of the countryside but with plenty to do and only an hour from London. We hope you will feel welcome.
The room itself means you can keep yourself to yourself, or you're welcome to make use of the shared areas.
Manningtree is a quaint small town, but it has everything you need. It's on edge of the Stour river in the beautiful countryside of the Essex/Suffolk border. We particularly recommend Lucca for a woodfired pizza or The Mistley Thorn if you want something a little more up-market. Estuary - a new tapas & wine/cocktail bar - and The Red Lion pub are well worth a visit with many local ales and gins. Constable country is only a walk away. If you want to make a day of it, we'd recommend a 4-hour circular walk to Dedham, with a lunchtime stop at one of its lovely pubs, and back past Willy Lott's Cottage.
  • Kezia and Sam were a warm welcoming couple with a really unique and beautiful place. Nice location, really quirky part of the house to stay and super friendly.

    Adam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful place to stay. I felt welcomed and very comfortable, and it was a really peaceful night's sleep. I will definitely reserve my next visit to Manningtree here if it is available.

    Stephanie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Manningtree for a family do, though the highlight was definitely Kezia and Sam's warm welcome and hospitality. We slept really well here and enjoyed watching the garden birds (a rare treat for big city folk). Manningtree has some well established cafes and restaurants and we enjoyed the many hours spent in the Red Lion pub, just a few mins down the road from Kezia and Sams cottage :)

    Richard & Aymie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for visiting family in town, so hospitable and friendly, looking forward to staying again.

    Peter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sam and Kezia are lovely hosts and their house is a joy to stay in.

    Benjamin2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely house in a quiet great part of town. Very convenient and pleasant short walk to the train station fo rocking and going. Very generous and kind hosts.

    Benjamin2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxed hosts and a character cottage that was perfectly placed for our needs. 5 minute walk into Manningtree which is a lovely little atmospheric town. 4 miles from the Dedham to Flatford walk which was simply beautiful. Good value accommodation for this area.

    Andrea2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very good and fast communications. The hosts weren’t there when we stayed but self check-in was easy. The space was great, with the room clean and tidy. The shared spaces are very much a lived in house full of personal belongings and a bit of the mess of day to day living as one would expect but nothing at all offputting. It is after all a proper Airbnb room in a lived in house rather than a hotel like or bnb run as a business. It looks like the hosts are lovely people and the note left invited guests to share a vegetarian meal if they are cooking (just let them know so they can cook enough it said) we would love meet them and share a meal on another future visit. Manningtree has some lovely walks along the estuary and the Pizza place in town is fantastic.

Stunning Grade II Listed cottage, built in 1640 in a terrific location. Two bedrooms and can comfortably sleep two adults, two children and a baby. A stone's throw away from some fantastic restaurants, pubs and other shops with a local market on a Saturday morning. Manningtree train station 15 min walk from the house with trains taking 55 mins from London Liverpool Street. An idyllic retreat with great things to do nearby including a beach to build sandcastles on, or to watch the sun set.
Large inglenook fireplace in the lounge with candles in for guests to use. There is a high chair in the kitchen, and some toys in the lounge for little ones. The staircase is a spiral wooden staircase, with no stairgate. Please be aware of this if you have crawling babies/toddlers. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom looks out to the River Stour with a double bed and is split into two by a large chimney. The second part to this room has hanging space and a cot bed. The second bedroom has a cabin style bunk bed suitable for children but not adults and has a safety lock on the window. The door latches upstairs are original and high up so if the door is shut then small children will not be able to open the door (this helps with the lack of stairgate). The bathroom has a free standing bath with shower head but no separate shower. There is no garden to this property or outdoor space, but we never miss it with the beautiful beach and walks along the River right on your doorstep.
Friendly neighbourhood with village Cricket Club, Bowls Club and Sailing Club. Small beach in front of the house by the sailing club is a bonus. Out and about- a Few ideas. -Flatford Mill. A National Trust site about five minutes’ drive away. Constable country. -Frinton beach. Traffic can be busy on hot days, so you’re aware. (Red Lion at Kirby a really good spot for lunch/dinner on way back, and child friendly with nice beer garden) -Clacton beach and pier not far away -Jimmy’s Farm. Jamie Oliver’s partner in crime -Colchester Zoo. -Lavenham and Long Melford. Lovejoy territory! -Southwold and Aldeburgh. Lovely, lovely, Suffolk villages on the coast. Take about 50 minutes to get to. Southwold known as ‘Kensington by Sea’! If you go to Aldeburgh, then there is a rowing/boating lake at Thorpeness that is fabulous. -Go Bananas in Colchester is a huge soft-play centre -Harwich and Dovercourt. Nice beach at Dovercourt, and from Harwich you can get a foot ferry across the river to Shotley. Good food at The Pier restaurant at Harwich. -Dedham. A lovely little village and boat hire available. Ten minutes away.
  • Great cottage with beautiful views. Nicely renovated while retaining the authentic details. Shops and train station nearby.

  • Great place to stay. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend this wonderful place. Host was very helpful and always on hand with quick helpful responses

    Roland2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cottage is such a lovely place to stay and recharge. It is 15 mins off the A12 on the Essex/ Suffolk and in reach of beautiful walks, countryside and activities. The cottage is well equipped ,quaint, comfortable, cosy and very spacious. Kate , the host ,literally arranged for me to stay within few hours of my enquiry and helped me make the most of my much needed few days solitude, and it was wonderful.

    Lesley2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's cottage is so quirky and cosy, situated in an equally perfect village with good pubs and a great view/location right next to the river. She went the extra mile to accommodate our trip which was so appreciated by our group. The cottage itself had everything we needed and more. The village regatta was an unexpected but welcome surprise. Would absolutely recommend Kate's place for a country getaway

    Rachel2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely homely and quirky cottage in a perfect location yards from the waterfront. Great view especially from the bedroom of the boats and water. Minutes from shops, restaurants and local pubs, highly recommend the Red Lion. Friendly local and although they don’t do food takeaways can be bought in and they even provide plates and cutlery. Few chaps having a jamming session with their guitars and singing too, great fun. Mistley is 10 minutes walk along the waterfront and the Thorn restaurant didn’t disappoint either...one of the reasons we wanted to stay in the area. The cottage is close to constable country and beautiful Flatford mill. Also short run to the coast. Kate is a fabulous host giving us tips for places to visit and eat. Quick communication and a lovely friendly lady. Highly recommend a stay here.

  • Really characterful cottage in a great location in old Manningtree. I really recommend this place! Great facilities - nothing to complain about. Top experience both with the place and the host. :)

  • Once again fantastic!!

    Faye2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kate replied extremely quickly!! Every response was very helpful, Kate went above and beyond at very short notice. I booked the property on the day and within moments the cleaner was booked in and the house was ready for us. I then re booked again at very short notice for the following week, Kate ensured that the property would be ready even changing personal arrangements. The home is very cute, clean and just what I was looking for. Kate has been great- super host :)

Our names are Andrew and Vicki, our home is in the tranquil setting of the Dedham Vale, around one and a half miles from the center the village of Dedham in the heart of Constable Country. We would like to welcome to our shepherds hut as friends. We share our home with our permanent lodger Gary, and our two young dogs. We also have two other spaces for you to view Constable Country, or Dedham Vale
On arrival, guests will be made welcome, this is primarily our home, so we aim to make guests feel at ease and comfortable as we would for any of our family and friends. We offer a double room which has newly furnished comprising of a double bed, two cabinets with draws. Small table and two chairs. The room has 3 x double sockets, two extension leads complete with usb chargers. Wifi does reach the shepherds hut. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room along with a small fridge containing complimentary refreshments and milk for your stay. There is also a microwave side plates, dishes, diner plates, cutlery. Fan and a small heater. Please Note: The pod is not suitable for stays of more than two weeks.
Dedham has two pubs which both serve very good food, the tea room is excellent for post walk tea and cake. The boat house restaurant is a lovely place to spend an evening or if you prefer, Colchester has plenty of night life, bars and restaurants to choose from. Or, there are good local takeaways. Ardleigh has two pubs. The Wooden Fender serves excellent food. There is also a Chinese takeaway in the village. Our home is just outside the village of Dedham, on the Essex/Suffolk border, in the heart of Constable country, with its beautiful countryside and Flatford with its mill and river. We are close to main routes and the ports of Harwich (12 miles) and Felixstowe (15 miles), but far enough away to enjoy the tranquility and peace living in the country offers. There are lots of lovely things to do including walks along the 42 miles of footpaths by the river and round the village and across fields, you could hire a rowing boat and take a trip down the river. Visit the beautiful 14th century church (of which I am caretaker and groundskeeper), visit Flatford Mill or eat at some fantastic pubs and restaurants including The Sun, The Malborough, Milsoms, La Talbooth, Boathouse or the Wooden Fender Everything in the village can be accessed by foot or bike. There is a bus stop within a minutes walk, giving access to Colchester, Mannintree and beyond. The nearest train station is Manningtree which is 10 minutes away by car. Please note that we are located about 1.5 miles from Dedham village centre and about 5 miles from the centre of Colchester.
  • Great, quiet location in garden next to Andrew's house. Perfect for getaway. Managed to read 2 books in a week. Andrew is very communicative and helpful. Place is clean and cosy. Few sweets on arrival. Small fridge, microwave, towels etc. Couple friendly degs behind fence. But I couldn't resist to pet them. Can't remember when I had such a great sleep and waking up without alarm, but rays of sun. 5 *****

  • Wasn’t able to stay in the hut so we were given a room instead. Friendly hosts and lovely house, wasn’t sure the room was worth what we paid in comparison to being able to stay in a hut separate from the house but we enjoyed the stay regardless.

    Rosie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place, right around the corner from the bus stop. Andrew was really friendly and welcoming, and the shepherd's hut was lovely and calm and quiet (& spotlessly clean!) 👍

  • Fantastic place to stay. Beautiful garden, charming informative hosts and great amenities. Very stylishly kitted out and tea/coffee/milk very welcome. Great to have a sizeable tv and dvd/blu Ray especially with Storm Dennis raging outside. Within easy reach of Ardleigh, Dedham, Manningtree and Colchester. Really enjoyed the hearty well cooked breakfast which is good value and lovely room in which to eat it. Lots of local info for walks and places to eat (The Woodfender lush). Our two small pooches were welcomed with treats and cuddles rather than just simply tolerated and the garden is secure for them to scamper round. Bed is super comfy and The Birdhouse is really warm and well equipped. Couldn’t fault it. Highly recommended.

The location is perfect, right next to the Stour Estuary and very near to pubs, shops and cafes. Hannah is an excellent host. • Yet again great service and lovely touches

    Sean2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a comfortable, well-equipped and (despite the proximity of "main house") private accommodation. Having an enclosed garden was handy for our dog. The Compasses pub, a few minutes' walk away, proved to be very good for a (dog-friendly) meal out, and breakfast at the "Butt and Oyster" by the estuary -followed by a walk along its banks - was not to be missed. We were only disappointed not to be able stay longer to explore more local walks, of which there are seemingly a profusion, with our hound.

    Nick2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • A really super little place. Totally private. The garden is very enclosed, which was great for the dog. Very clean and decorated to a high standard. Comfy bed and lovely shower.

This immaculately presented home in Manningtree, the gateway to Constable country, is located overlooking an open field near the highly sought after Dedham Vale. The property is situated on Dorset Square, within walking distance of the mainline railway station. The house enjoys an open plan kitchen/living area, one double bedroom, private south-facing rear garden with a seating area and off road parking.
Lawford and nearby Manningtree are perfectly placed to enjoy rural living with the River Stour and Estuary, open countryside and stunning coastline surrounding the area. Manningtree is often claimed as the smallest town in England and boasts a friendly community and calm rural lifestyle. It is a town steeped in history that's well connected to both London and neighbouring towns. Manningtree's traditional High Street is home to a variety of shops including bakery, wine bar, restaurents, deli, coffee shops, florist and an art gallery. There is also a co-op supermarket, a Tesco Express and a farm shop, as well as a number of cosy pubs. The train station offers fast links to London and the towns of Colchester, Chelmsford and Ipswich are just a short journey away by rail or road, with ample opportunities for shopping, leisure and entertainment.
Dorset Square is a new build area full of great people. We really are very lucky. We have monthly walks down to the red lion pub followed by the Estuary Wine bar in Manningtree town, which brings us all together for a few drinks and laughs.
  • If you want a comfortable, stylish place to stay then this home is perfect. Close to the station and convenient shops it is the ideal spot for anyone wanting to explore the Essex, Suffolk borders. A real home from home.

Come and stay in a unique pod in the heart of our organic small holding. There are two twin beds with the option of a third small bed alongside. It suits two perfectly, and is cosy with three. Table and chairs and deck for outside eating and fire pit available. Booking includes access to our shared farm kitchen, shared family room inc. wood burning stove & sofas, shower & toilet about 20 metres from the Pod and the option of buying fresh eggs and produce on arrival.. We are a working fruit farm!
  • Lovely pod in Dedham! Great stay

  • Very scenic and beautiful. A brilliant place to switch off and just explore the area around. It is all walking distance to Flatford, Manningtree and Dedham and even the farm itself is beautiful enough to just stay in and explore. Would recommend as a family, couple or (in our case) artists

    Irene2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy pod and beautiful surroundings. Rebecca and Ian were very welcoming and accommodating. Would love to come back in the summer! Thank you!

    Lucy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I visited the pod in November so the weather was very cold, but that didn't take away from the beauty of this magical little pod. It was super warm and cosy for the 2 days I stayed there as the pod has a little heater. It comes with plug socket too for anything you may need to charge. The outbuilding had a fully functioning kitchen with gas cooker and a fridge. The grounds are just beautiful even in the winter and they have chickens too! Shower was perfect and the hospitality of the hosts was second to none. There are local shops around 10mins away driving but if you're on foot it'about a 45 min walk( I wouldn't mind it at all in the warmer months) this place really is a little gem of a find. And I will certainly be back

    Charmain2019-11-18T00:00:00Z

  • This is a magical spot, a snug little pod, nestled away in an enchanting Organic fruit farm. What a joy to wake up to birdsong, and have acres of woodland and fruit trees all around you in this idyllic rustic setting. Absolutely loved it. Home-made jam for breakfast, and then a short trip to Constable Country and Flatford Mill. Amazing location, and Rebecca is the loveliest warmest host you could hope for!

    James2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great trip staying at Ian’s and Rebecca’s! The facilities are perfect for cooking and the farm was lovely to wander around - we were given great tips for areas to travel to nearby and made to feel very welcome in this beautiful part of England Thank you both so much

Our names are Andrew and Vicki, our home is in the tranquil setting of the Dedham Vale, around one and a half miles from the center the village of Dedham in the heart of Constable Country. We would like to welcome you into our home as friends. We share our home our two young dogs. We also have two other spaces for you to view Constable Country, or Cosy Pod in Sunny Location
On arrival, guests will be made welcome, this is primarily our home, not a business, so we aim to make guests feel at ease and comfortable as we would for any of our family and friends. We offer a double room on the first floor which has just been freshly decorated and has new furniture, comprising of a wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside cabinets. The room has also been upgraded with 2 x double sockets with 3 usb chargers and wifi booster. 42" TV with freeview and Sky tv. Wifi throughout the house. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room along with a small fridge containing complimentary refreshments and milk for your stay. We also have a very comfortable folding bed that can be put up in your room for an additional charge per night.
Dedham village has two pubs (the Sun and Malbrough Head) which both serve good food. The Essex Rose tea room is excellent for post walk tea and cake. The boat house restaurant is a lovely place to spend an evening or if you prefer. Ardleigh village also has two pubs (the Red Lion and the Wooden Fender). Only the Wooden Fender serve very good food. Colchester has plenty of night life, bars and restaurants to choose from. Or, there are good local takeaways. There are lots of lovely things to do including walks along the 42 miles of footpaths by the river, round the village and across fields, you could hire a rowing boat and take a trip down the river. Visit the beautiful 14th century church (of which I am caretaker and groundsman), visit Flatford Mill. If you prefer your food more upmarket Dedham village also has Milsoms and La Talbooth. Everything in the village can be accessed by foot or bike. There is a bus stop within a minutes walk, giving access to Colchester, Mannintree and beyond. The nearest train station is Manningtree which is 10 minutes away by car. Colchester North station is about 12 minutes by car. Please note that we are located about 1.5 miles from Dedham village centre and about 5 miles from the centre of Colchester.
  • A beautiful place to stay. Perfect for work. The bedroom is cozy and relaxing, lovely little touches in the room that make it even more luxury. Hosts communicate well and were extremely helpful. The house was easy to find. No complaints! Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • We had a lovely stay at Woodburn cottage, perfect if you are looking for a quiet countryside getaway. Jimmy was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and Jimmy gave us lots of tips on places to eat/visit.

  • We stayed for one night during a fleeting visit to Colchester. Jimmy was a wonderful host and his cottage is delightful. The room was spacious enough for three adults (and a small dog!). It had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. The beds are very comfortable - we all slept very well! For a small extra fee we each had a full English which was perfect. Mollie the dog loved the garden. All in all, a wonderful stay - would highly recommend.

  • We had a lovely time staying at Jimmy's home. The accomadation was fabulous, not only being spotless and of high quality, was comfortable and very relaxing. We took our 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, they were treated as part of the family, and had a fuss from the whole family. Jimmy was a lovely host and could not do enough to make our break totally enjoyable. Jimmy would always spend time for a lovely chat. Unfortunately I was poorly whilst there and Stanley, Jimmy's gorgeous little boy made me a get well card. It was like home from home and made you feel special I would definitely return and encourage people to go and stay too, not only enjoy the lovely part of England but to have an excellent host and a lovely family as company

  • I really enjoyed my stay with Jimmy and his family. The room very spacious, comfortable and clean. Jimmy cooked a delicious breakfast too. The location was perfect, just a few minutes from beautiful Dedham village. Off road parking is available in front of the house. I would definitely stay again if I return to the area.

  • After arriving on a ferry from the Hook of Holland to Harwich, this is the perfect stop over. Alyona was a gracious host, and the rooms, bathroom, and kitchen were very clean. She asked what we wanted to eat for breakfast the day before and then bought and prepared it for us when we woke up in the morning. She talked with us about the area, some recommendations for Scotland (our next stop), and about her travels. We had a great stay, and for a great price. Thanks Alyona!

The Barn Annex is next door to Tunmer's Farm where we live with our three dogs. The Farm is situated in the Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and overlooks the unspoiled Stour valley and cattle grazing in the water meadows. There is no public transport, but good taxis. Colchester and Ipswich are 8 miles away for shopping, as is the charming market town of Hadleigh. This quiet spot is the perfect place to relax and explore the countryside and the culture that Suffolk offers.
You can walk on the fields in front of the barn, there are lots of foot paths in the area, you can walk to Stratford St Mary, where there are several pubs with good food.
We are in the beautiful Dedham Vale of Constable fame.

  • We stayed at Sarah's house while walking the Manningtree Circular - it was the perfect base for it, about 10 mins from the station. Sarah and Kelvin were very welcoming and their house a really nice old place with some great features. One thing I would say though was that it's quite hard to take a shower as there's no splash guard, but other than that we had a really comfortable stay. The breakfast spread was really nice too! Thanks Sarah!

    Simon2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem in manningtree, Sarah was an excellent host who made us very welcome, we were able to help ourselves to tea and coffee. We are presented with an excellent breakfast in the morning. The stairs up to the private bedroom and bathroom are very steep but we were aware of this and did not cause us a problem but if you do have mobility issues they will do. We hope to visit again in the future

  • The room and private bathroom are lovely. The bed was really comfortable and the room spacious, homely and the bed is comfortable. The house is in a superb location, right in the middle of Manningtree. Sarah is a lovely host and very kindly picked me up from the station and dropped me off the next day.

Central heating is easy to operate and picking up / dropping off the keys using the lock box couldn’t be easier! Thank you for another great stay.

  • Janet's place was an amazing find, everything you need and more. We are already looking at dates to come again and have been looking for that little getaway place for a while and this is it! Where you can always go for a break from the world. Me and my husband really needed it... Chestnut Cottage was so cosy - perfect for a couple. Thanks for being such a great host. We bumped into both you and husband (I think?) And you both were so lovely and friendly. Take care and we both wish you well.

Our names are Andrew and Vicki, our home is in the tranquil setting of the Dedham Vale, around one and a half miles from the center the village of Dedham in the heart of Constable Country. We would like to welcome you into our home as friends. We share our home our two young dogs. We also have two other spaces for you to view Dedham Vale (which has an additional single z-bed) or Cosy Pod in Sunny Location
On arrival, guests will be made welcome, this is primarily our home, not a business, so we aim to make guests feel at ease and comfortable as we would for any of our family and friends. We offer a double room on the first floor which has just been freshly decorated and has new furniture, comprising of a wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside cabinet, table and chair. The room has also been upgraded with 2 x double sockets with 3 usb chargers and wifi booster. 42" TV with freeview and Wifi throughout the house. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room along with a small fridge containing complimentary refreshments and milk for your stay.
Dedham village has two pubs (the Sun and Malbrough Head) which both serve good food. The Essex Rose tea room is excellent for post walk tea and cake. The boat house restaurant is a lovely place to spend an evening, or if you prefer Ardleigh village also has two pubs (the Red Lion and the Wooden Fender). Only the Wooden Fender serve food which is very good. Colchester has plenty of night life, bars and restaurants to choose from. Or, there are good local takeaways. There are lots of lovely things to do including walks along the 42 miles of footpaths by the river, round the village and across fields, you could hire a rowing boat and take a trip down the river. Visit the beautiful 14th century church (of which I am caretaker and groundsman), visit Flatford Mill. If you prefer your food more upmarket Dedham village and Stratford St Mary’s also has Milsoms and La Talbooth. Everything in the village can be accessed by foot or bike. There is a bus stop (route 81A) within a minutes walk, giving access to Colchester, Mannintree and beyond. The nearest train station is Manningtree which is 10 minutes away by car. Colchester North station is about 12 minutes by car. Please note that we are located about 1.5 miles from Dedham village centre and about 5 miles from the centre of Colchester.

Gatemans is the oldest house in the village and Stratford st Mary was built around its existence. Ralph Gateman; a local weaver instructed the building of this house in 1334. As the custodian of the beautiful old house I would like to offer a plethora of choices. You are welcome to book a double bedroom,2,3 or even the whole house. There is a choice of 3 reception rooms and a walled garden with a well. A garage provides shelter should you wish to use it for storage during your stay too.
This beautiful old house is set deep in the heart of Constable country With stunning walks along the river Stour.
The neighbourhood is of mixed ages. There are 3 thriving pubs that cater to differing needs. There is a river running through the village that gives opportunity to kayak. Nearby Dedham is a quaint village offering bespoke shops and further pubs and cafes. This village was named in the doomsday book and was prevalent in the wool industry. Boudicca was believed to have come through this village on the old London road in her chariot from Norfolk through Suffolk onto Britain’s oldest recorded town Camulodunon (Colchester)
  • Had a lovely relaxing stay in Lynn’s beautiful home. Very accommodating, clean and really comfortable, struggled to get out of bed the next day! Thanks for a lovely stay

  • Delightfully converted basement, bright and airy, very comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. Sally took time to tell us all about the area.

  • This was our second stay at Sally’s and as before everything was excellent.

    Bob2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's place is a truly lovely place to stay. Sally is a very warm and welcoming host. She has created a beautiful space - both the bedroom and bathroom are lovely and the house has a charming atmosphere. Sally clearly has an eye for detail and a desire to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment and experience for her guests. Breakfast was excellent and, of course, beautifully presented. I would certainly recommend a stay at Sally's.

    Emma2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spacious bedroom and bathroom with its own private entry and immediate access to the pretty cottage garden. Very stylish, Sally is an artist, and peaceful. Sally was a lovely host who was there to greet us and give us a key so that we could let ourselves in later. She brought us a lovely breakfast which we had out in the garden - on a beautiful August day. An absolute treat. Highly recommend.

    Robert2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We just had a short stay here because we were catching the ferry back home the next day, but we had a very pleasant stay in Sallys wonderful B&B. Lovely room, comfy bed and spacious bathroom. Delicious breakfast (that Sally prepared for us in the evening, so we could have breakfast very early in the morning). Absolutely recommend!

  • A perfect host and most beautiful place.

  • What can I say? Our stay at East Cliff House was utterly fantastic. Sally was a consumate host and everything, the space, amenities, warmth, attention to detail, ambience, even Coco the dog, were an absolute delight and simply exceeded our expectations. Can't recommend East Cliff and Sally enough. Constable Country itself was a tonic and our stay was memorable. What more could you want?

    Sean2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is a wonderful host. She gave us some great tips on things to do in the environment. We where traveling with our 1,5 year old child and although the place is not organized for children she did everything to make our stay as pleasant and possible. She also gave us the tip to go to a nearby farm where they had excellent food and wonderful view but also great things to do for our child. The room has a nice view into the garden which is full of nice flowers and herbs. We stayed for two nights before we had to take the ferry from Harwich which left early in the morning. This wasn't a problem at all. Sally made us an excellent breakfast before we left. The house is also very characteristic. Sally is an artist and there is beautiful art she made by herself hanging throughout the whole house. Next to that there are al sorts of nice things she collected from markets and other places. The combination of these together with Sally's great hospitality makes it a special place to stay.

Lovely airy apartment located in an attractive listed building in historic Dedham High Street in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Dedham is a beautiful village on the Essex/Suffolk border. It has a wealth of historic buildings and a choice of wonderful restaurants in the village and nearby. The famous painter Constable went to school in Dedham and the countryside he painted in the 18th century remains virtually unchanged today.
The entrance leads into a small hall with stairs up to the first floor. The apartment is decorated in fresh neutral colours and is light and airy. The sitting room has a TV and wi fi. The modern kitchen is well fitted with fridge, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, table and chairs and cooking utensils. There is a bathroom with shower. We also provide most sundry items you will need through out your stay including breakfast. At the rear of the property is a lovely sunny garden and patio with views of the church for your exclusive enjoyment.
Dedham sits on the River Stour where you can enjoy riverside dining or hire a boat to enjoy the delights of the water. There are wonderful walks around Dedham and along the river to Flatford Mill. The Munnings Museum, where the artist lived is located in Dedham and displays many of his famous equestrian paintings. During the summer there are various fetes and events in the village. Further afield are a plethora of fascinating towns and villages to suit all interests.
  • This was my second stay at Debbie's place and once again, the standard was as excellent as I was expecting. The basket of goodies left along with the fresh flowers ensured that I felt welcomed and at home. I look forward to staying here again when I am next in the area.

  • Dedham is a lovely village and has everything you need. The apartment is perfectly placed, clean and has all of the facilities for a short or long stay. On street parking was easy, we had no problems and parked just a few meters from the apartment. Great host and lovely breakfast provided.

  • Very cosy clean place to stay everything we needed was there breakfast milk ect. Amazing location would highly recommend 5 *

    Carrie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We thought Debbie’s place was excellent value for money: exceptionally clean, very comfortable bed, good tv when needed and very good location. It was easy to unload luggage using the two hour free on-road parking and then we parked very cheaply five minutes away in Mill Lane car park. We paid for our whole period by phone in one go to avoid early walks to the car park to renew. We felt very welcome by the breakfast provisions and flowers. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was our first use of Airbnb and we will definitely use it again.

  • An ideal place for you to go when you want to switch off from the hustle and bustle. If you like the quiet and small village setting it is perfect. I was greeted by the wonderful Natalie, who made me feel very welcome in her home. It’s a 5 minute walk from the local co op, a local pub about 15 minute walk away. If you drive you can also go to a few other small villages for nice pubs and little shops.

    Jodi2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Rosemary's B&B for two nights and enjoyed my stay greatly. The house was immaculately clean and you could tell the house and garden was well cared for. Natalie was also a very generous host willing to go above and beyond regular host duties. Will be staying there again

    Jason2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I am 100% satisfied bringing my parents down to Rosemary's B&B. We couldn't ask for more. From the minute arrived at their lovely tranquil countryside house, we were warmly welcomed by Mrs Natalie( Heloise mum) with cups of teas and had a little chat before stretching out for a Constable trail walking, a decent 15-20mins distance to the famous " Flatford Mill". We went to a pub called " Carries Arms" recommended by her, excellent food and portion! A torch was given to us, which later proved to be super helpful, imagine walking on the countryside road without street lights! We saved the best for last, lingered at Rosemary's garden(Cadenza) before heading to the train station. We love the house and garden and the spirit in them. "She had her existence. She was there. She in place and the place in her.

  • We stayed at this b&b for the Ed Sheeran concert and it had everything we needed. Rooms were lovely, clean and tidy as expected and beds were very comfortable. We received a lovely welcome upon arrival, tea and cake was just what we needed after our journey. The b&b is set in a beautiful location and the gardens are lovely. Breakfast in the morning was delicious.

  • Heloise is an excellent host, owns a beautiful house with a magnificent garden, in a very nice, quiet and picturesque village. A place to fall in love with. We were welcomed with proper English tea, and (included) breakfast next morning was also very generous. Location is ideal, less than 30 minutes from Harwich. Pub at walking distance.

    Renzo2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for one night in June. This is a beautiful 1920s house, with an enormous and gorgeous garden. Natalie looked after my friend and I very well, answering questions about the area and providing lovely food and conversation. East Bergholt is a very nice little down, set in beautiful Constable countryside and only a 30 minute stroll to the famous Willy Lott’s cottage and mill. Good pubs in the village too. The Pink Room was comfortable and very spacious, the Blue Room smaller but equally comfort. I highly recommend this B & B.

    Michael2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly thank you so much to Natalie, a kindred spirit. I arrived as a guest but felt I left as a friend. The roses and the gardens were so wonderful I didn’t want to leave to go anywhere except up the road to the village tearoom and shop. This Airbnb was heaven for me. A wonderful place to relax and heal a weary sore body! The cleanliness and attention to detail is amazing and it was like a step back in time. I felt all the wonder of being at Grandmas house so many years ago. A great place to write. I highly recommend Rosemary B&B. This will always be one of my most favourite stays ever! Thank you again. I hope to return next year with my sister.

  • I stayed here for two nights with my grandson and dog. The hut was lovely and warm, two panel heaters on the walls and two fan heaters in the living area for added heat, plus a fan heater in the bathroom. Lots of hot water and a good powerful shower. The WiFi is good and the TV large. We spent our time dog walking, relaxing and walked to the Swan pub where we had a lovely meal in the dog friendly restaurant with a real fire. Tony lives with his extended family he is a lovely guy . You are close to the A12 ( not in sight )but we didn’t notice any noise as the hut has double glazing. The hut is in his very large garden , it’s near to the house but unlike one reviewer we were not disturbed by dogs barking or any other noise. We arrived to bacon, eggs, tea coffee, milk etc which was very welcome. My grandson loved the mezzanine with the double bed, thanks Tony for your exceptional hospitality.

  • Lovely cabin in a pleasant location and very handy for the A12. Toni made us feel very welcome and also left us some useful supplies in the fridge. The village of Stratford St Mary is very pleasant and we were made to feel very welcome at the Anchor Inn where we headed for an evening meal. Nice little place and great value to boot.

  • The old Sunday school was spotlessly clean and beautifully fitted with all mod cons. It’s extremely comfortable and wonderfully quiet. The location is perfect in the lovely village of Holbrook. Kate is an excellent host, and I would without hesitation recommend a trip/stay here.

Due to the current national threat from Covid-19 and having a compromised immune system, I regret that I am not accepting any further bookings for the time being. You’ll love my place because of the location, the beautiful countryside and historic villages, comfy beds, peaceful nights and the cosiness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers (such as cyclists), business travellers, and families (with kids).
It’s a spacious double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with shower. Located in a family house on a private drive providing off road parking in the heritage village of East Bergholt, famous as the birthplace and home of the artist John Constable. Also available with this booking is a separate bedroom with 1 or 2 single beds and use of a separate bathroom (only shared if there are family visitors). Please contact for pricing.
East Bergholt is a heritage village in south Suffolk, well served by four pubs, a village shop and a wonderful bakery. Both it and the nearby hamlet of Flatford with its famous mill on the river Stour provided the settings for many of John Constable's paintings and these locations can still be seen today. There are amazing views over the Stour Valley and Dedham Vale, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
