Magical townhouse getaway in London

Amazing stay! Highly recommend, we had a great time. Great for kids, our daughter loved the toys and record player. Accessible to most things walking or public transit. We had a car and had to street park which ended up being no big deal. 10/10 would stay again!

Pretty London narrowboat moored in private garden

JacquelineRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Absolutely charming, delightful, peaceful. “Dorothy”, the narrowboat, is moored in a peaceful side inlet of the Grand Union Canal, part of thousands of miles of canals in England. She’s painted a pretty red outside and inside is painted a gorgeous teal, with polished wood, and white ceilings. Very attractive inside and very comfortable. Beds were super cosy! Everything that you would need for a stay is provided. The boat is tucked away behind Lock Cottage, once the home of the lock-keeper in the 1800’s. Lindsey is an amazing host, very kind and attentive and flexible with our changing arrival times. She even came over the bridge to meet us. The Fox Hanwell pub is very close and very good and very lovely with a large garden with tables. A MUST if you are curious about narrow boats and would like to see what one is like before embarking on a journey.

Ideal 1Bed in Holland Park/Olympia/Kensington W14

SamRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This place is a gem. Branka was the best Airbnb host we have had in years: extremely helpful and kind, very flexible about check in, and she supplied the kitchen with practically every basic ingredient we might need (and when there was one thing she hadn't stocked - chili pepper - she promptly went to her own apartment to get some for us). And her place is great: clean, bright, with a roomy dining-living room and a very quiet bedroom in the back, kept cool even on a warm summer's day, where we heard the birds in the morning. The location isn't ideal - Holland Road is ugly - but it's quite near both a good shopping street in Shepherd's Bush and Hyde Park (about a mile away). I recommend this place highly.

Luxury Battersea studio w open fire, close to Park

EmmaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
A little gem of a place! Don't let the exterior fool you! It's homely, peaceful and just a home from home once you are through the door with a cuppa in hand and slumped on the sofa! I could of hapilt stayed for weeks! The flat is within walking distance to Battersea Park (5 minute walk) and Chelsea (15-20 minute walk) which was perfect for my solo trip to see Chelsea in bloom. There are some great free parking spots local to the flat which is great if you plan on coming by car! The area felt safe and welcoming and I had no issues walking to and from the flat even quite late at night. The bus stop is round the corner and takes you to all the great spots in central London! The highlights from my stay were being welcomed by a beautiful bottle of red wine, the amazing shower that I struggled to get out of as it was just so relaxing and the ambience of busy London in the background whilst I read my book next to the fire wrapped in a blanket! I will definitely be back!

JESSIE the narrowboat in Little Venice

BeckyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This houseboat experience has been on my bucket list for YEARS, so when it came time to find a place to stay in London during my four day visit with my grandson for his 10th birthday - BINGO!! IT was a fantastic unique experience. It’s different of course but so easy to adjust to and enjoy thoroughly. Going to bed every night listening to the sweet gentle sound of nature around you was very soothing and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything you can possibly need is right around you within a few minutes walk. Including two extremely convenient tube stations, railway station, restaurants, coffee shops and markets.

Fabulous, Contemporary Garden Apartment in Balham

KenRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had an amazing stay in Balham. Nicholas was a great host who quickly responded to any questions, even the annoying touristy ones, and provided very clear instructions. The home is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. Spending a week in this home was a delight. It is a quick walk from Balham Station, and there are plenty of wonderful restaurants in town. We were only a 20-30 minute underground train ride from everything we wanted to see and do in London. It is absolutely a great place to stay. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic, stylish and artistic home. The space is peaceful and relaxing. Courtyard is perfect for enjoying a cuppa in the morning air. James even went to the trouble of booking parking for us at a very reasonable price. Great park at the end of the road for dog walks and canal is just over the road for lovely strolls. A range of shops and eateries on the doorstep. One of the most comfortable stays we’ve had.

It was a delight to stay at Judith’s place. A very unusual flat with lots of natural light , nicely decorated and all the necessary amenities.Loved the roses in the garden. Staying at Judiths was like staying at a friends where everything was really comfortable and questions were answered straight away. The bread , milk , butter , honey and Prosecco left by her was very thoughtful. Was so lovely to be able to walk to Portobello market , Notting Hill , West View Mall and 3 tube stations in walking distance. Will definitely recommend the place as well as look to staying there again next time in London.

I stayed at this property for two nights with 3 friends for a commercial filming project for my beauty brand. The pool area is a fabulous filming spot, the pool is heated so can be used from morning to night. We made use of the tennis courts, which was great fun and we loved listening to the noises from the duck pond. The barn all amenities and lots of games available to play too when chilling late at night. Great all round fabulous stay.

I loved the cleanliness of the boat, as well as the beautifully designed and efficient use of space. I also very much appreciated how close it is to Kings Cross station and walkable to restaurants and shops. A perfect stay, beautiful location, the hut is just as described. Really friendly and helpful host that sent clear instructions for everything. Check in is really smooth. We used all the amenities, hot tub, fire! The host organised a birthday sign and balloon for my boyf and because we don’t drink they welcomed us with some yummy soft drinks. We got a message in the morning saying we could check out half an hour later and they the host had prepaid for a hot drink for us, I had to rush off to work so we didn’t pick them up but such a lovely gesture for guests! STUDiO Apartment, Sparkling Clean, Free Parking

MeganRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Overall, we enjoyed this stay and it had everything we needed for our first several nights in the UK. Nothing wrong at all with the studio and felt comfortable. Heads up for other travelers booking to head into central London, this is about a 1.5 hour drive by car to any tourist spots. It may say 30-40 minutes, but the traffic is extremely congested. We took the train one morning which took about an hour, and then tried buses on the way home but that was taking 2+ hours, so we Ubered. Also, I mustn’t have looked for this when booking, but there is no AC and no fan. We went to buy one because we can’t sleep without a breeze and some noise. On the rainy days, it got pretty humid. But, again, this was our first time in England and we didn’t have this knowledge!

Your guide to London

All About London

One of the world’s most visited cities, London is a rich tapestry of history, culture, and innovation that come together seamlessly over 600 square miles on the River Thames. Even if you’ve never been to the English capital, chances are you’re familiar with its sights like Big Ben, London Bridge, and Buckingham Palace. You could spend months exploring its world-class museums, sprawling Victorian gardens, and A-list theaters and still not scratch the surface.

London’s creative drive extends beyond the exhibition halls and onto the plate. The city is an epicenter of gastronomy, boasting some of the most diverse cuisine in the world. Indian curry houses line Brick Lane, Jamaican jerk chicken shops populate New Cross, and the aroma of grilled Turkish kebabs welcomes you to Stoke Newington. In between meals, you’ll find high-fashion boutiques, niche markets, and some of the oldest bookstores in Europe. Just make sure you save time to spend a Sunday afternoon with a classic roast dinner and your beverage of choice at a corner pub — you’ll fall in love with London in an entirely different way.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in London

London’s weather is fairly mild year-round, but that does not mean it is always warm and sunny. Rain is part of the charm in the capital, so it’s smart to pack an umbrella and a trench coat. Flowering trees and blooming gardens make spring a lovely time to visit, while a visit in December promises Christmas markets and holiday magic that emanates across the city. The weather is likely to be the best in summer, while chilly winter days make for a perfect excuse to park yourself in front of the fireplace and warm your stomach with some snacks at a pub. Regardless of when you go, keep in mind that there is no off-season in London and no shortage of apartments to rent.

Top things to do in London

Shopping in Shoreditch

Every Sunday, London’s trendiest neighborhood is home to Brick Lane market. Wander past buskers playing live music and striking street art, and you’ll find stalls selling vintage clothing, antiques, and wares by local designers. Duck into basement thrift shops and past warehouse doors that house artist ateliers, and follow your nose to Upmarket, a sprawling street food hall, for a smorgasbord of international snack options.

Barbican Centre

Amble past the Southbank booksellers and turn your eye to the Brutalist beauty that is the Barbican. Part apartment block, part multidisciplinary art complex, it’s a one-stop shop for revolving contemporary art exhibitions, to take in a London Symphony Orchestra concert, see the season’s top-billed independent theatre, or watch an arthouse film. And in December it hosts one of the city’s most charming outdoor Christmas markets.

The Shard

If you’re looking for views, you won’t get better ones than from the tip top of the Shard, a 72-story skyscraper that towers above London Bridge. It houses several restaurants and bars, each one serving up delectable views over the city skyline. Whether you’re after modern British fare, craft cocktails, or afternoon tea, you’ll feel on top of the world looking out the floor-to-ceiling glass windows with the whole city sprawled beneath. Naturally, the most impressive views are to be found at sunset and into the night.
