Our Shepherds Hut nestles into it's own space just next to the house, it has an ensuite shower etc, double bed and gorgeous west facing country views. Only a five minute walk from the centre of the village it is a haven of peace and tranquility. Please note we have a 2 night minimum stay for single occupancy.
The Shepherds hut is equipped with everything you need to make your stay great, There is a fully stocked hospitality tray with a range of teas, coffees and fresh milk and home made biscuits. The shower has been praised as "the best this holiday" In the morning come over to the conservatory to enjoy a delicious breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. To follow, a choice of the full English breakfast, including our own hen's eggs cooked however you like them and toasted home made bread. The hut is really well insulated with sheep's wool keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter, however you are welcome to fire up the wood burning stove if you wanted it a bit warmer. There is no TV but free fast WiFi in the Shepherds hut and the conservatory.
Brightwell cum Sotwell is probably one of the most attractive villages in the area, the main road by passes the village so there is not a lot of traffic, it is a lovely place to wander around on a pleasant evening as there is such a range of lovely houses and gardens to admire. The traditional, thatched village pub is a great place to stop off, the food and beer are both great. The villagers are very friendly and there is a lot going on. Most weekends there is some event be it a village quiz, talent show, summer fete, and we have a live music festival once a year, Many of our guests have enjoyed one of these events and have loved feeling like a 'local'.
  • Su h a lovely stay in the Shepherd's Hut. Sue and Bob were lovely and put on a fab breakfast. A spot of serenity away from the hubbub

  • Bob and Sue were SUCH lovely hosts. We can’t say enough about the beautiful gardens, amazing breakfast, and cute hut. Would highly recommend!

    Laura2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This “hut” is far better appointed than most shepherds would ever dream of. Space is necessarily limited, but we found it very comfortable, especially in conjunction with the open walled sitting “room” just behind. It is an extremely tranquil location, and the hut is well removed from the owners’ house. It is set within a beautiful wild flower garden, looking directly over a field fringed with woodland. The owners are very hospitable, striking just the right balance between being friendly and leaving guests to their own devices. The homemade breakfasts are exceptional. The shower and the electric heater (we didn’t try the wood burning stove in May) are both good; the bed is very comfortable and there is good quality linen. Be aware that the curtains are rather thin, though the owners helpfully provide eye masks.

  • Sue was awesome! Id recommend her place and this village to anyone. Great breakfast. Amazing location. Her garden is gorgeous.

    Marisa2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hut and views far exceeded our expectations. The hut is a serene and beautifully compact space - and the log burner in action was amazing. (I'd recommend you don't put too much wood in.) The hospitality was fantastic - Sue and Bob were incredibly welcoming while allowing us to completely enjoy this little slice of heaven as if it were own. My daughter, (aged 6) was blown away by the wildlife - none more so than the live footage of the blue tit chicks being fed by their busy parents.

  • We had an idyllic weekend relaxing in the Shepherds hut. As soon as we arrived we fell in love with the beautiful surroundings and cosy Shepherds hut, which was equipped with everything that we needed. Breakfast was delicious, especially whilst watching the deer skip through the fields opposite. A completly faultless accommodation. Thank you for having us Sue.

    Tom2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Totally faultless experience. Best Airbnb we’ve ever experienced. Such a relaxing way to spend a few days in a unique setting. The breakfast each morning is such a fantastic touch. And sitting outside each evening admiring the view was spectacular. Definitely recommend. Thanks so much for having us

    Vanessa2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepard’s hut is quaint but modern. Dreamy but practical (fantastic shower!) Extremely warm (I visited in March) and it is the extra special touches that Endear you to this property. I was a solo traveller and felt extremely safe. Sit in bed and watch nature at its best! There is also a log burner that I didn’t need to use. I’m sure this is wonderful when up and running! I will definitely visit again.....

People who come to the cottage love it. It is rural but with access to OXFORD and other cities. The accommodation is spacious and the facilities good. We now have totally reliable Wi-Fi so everyone should be happy. The two single beds in the attic are air beds. People have found them comfortable.
Welcome to this spacious yet cosy cottage within the grounds of our family house. There's a large living room and kitchen area with a wood-burning stove which makes for a very comfortable atmosphere. You'll also enjoy a nice double bedroom as well as some loft space for children and teenagers. I now have two comfortable air beds. The loft is carpeted and it has basic furniture but is essentially a camping-style arrangement and would be unsuitable for toddlers. Having said that, young children have slept there recently with no problem. I can provide a travel cot for a baby if necessary. We have recently upgraded the wifi connection and it is now working perfectly. We live in a little village about 20 minutes' drive from Oxford. There is an hourly bus to Oxford from Stadhampton which is about a 20 minutes walk away. There are lots of walks and country pubs around, as well as some nice market towns like Wallingford and Abingdon. We're also very close to the Thames for river walks. If you have any questions or special arrangements, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. The formal garden is off limits I am always at home at the beginning and end of a guest's stay and always contactable.
The cottage is within the grounds of our house but very private.
  • What a lovely space. So stylish and comfortable. The perfect weekend bolt hole in a stunning setting. 6 stars!!

  • A great location for visiting Oxford or exploring the Chilterns. Valerie couldn’t have been more helpful and we loved staying at the cottage. It is a very stylish place, wood burner and lovely garden. The kids particularly enjoyed sleeping in the loft space. Would definitely recommend.

  • Great stay. Very clean, big, cosy, with an amazing castle-like garden, everything you need is there for breakfast, we were very happy and will definitely come back. One of the best Airbnb that you could imagine.

  • Good location. Not far from local services

    Jenny2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time, the kitchen/sitting room is cosy, the garden is glorious (and has a stream at the bottom) and the location, among fields and footpaths is ideal for walkers. We walked to the Thames and swam, and walked back via some lovely country pubs.

  • This little gem is absolutely somewhere you will want to return too. A lovely spot on the Thames. For us it was one night snuggled down in front of the log burner. A time to reconnect and remember those things that are important in a life. Esther and Tobie are great hosts... I cannot recommend them highly enough 💕

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • Absolute comfort in a beautiful setting! Can’t recommend this place enough, great experience, easy check-in and excellent amenities! Thanks Tobie and Esther for an amazing stay!!

    Joe2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Esther and Tobie's place is lovely! Exactly like the pictures and really cosy. They gave great tips for the boat and the local area which made the stay all the more enjoyable.

    Bansri2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, welcoming, well thought out, private little getaway. A sweet place to just get away from normal day to day life. Esther communicated everything very clearly before we checked in and they provided all the "little things" you would need like tea, oil, loo roll, towels, cooking equipment. A perfect little haven for a couple.

A light and sunny open-plan lodge, with private deck and lovely views over open fields. Awarded Gold standard from Green Tourism UK. Fully equipped kitchen, TV, wifi, double bed, open-out sofa bed, dining table, shower room and utility room with washing machine.
A 45m2 open plan lodge built using hemp, engineered timber, with green walls, green roof and fitted with triple glazed windows and doors, LED lighting & far infrared heating. The lodge is a separate building within our property with the best views out to open fields. It has an open plan design allowing guests to have a continuous view of the countryside. It has a fully equipped kitchen, double bed and open-out sofa bed, dining table, satellite TV, including Sky movies and sports, and wifi. Outside there's a large decked area for relaxing in the sunshine or cooking on the BBQ. There's a small utility room with a washing machine and ample space to hang coats. The space is very private and guests have their own deck to admire the view and relax and watch the sunsets over sundowners. There's plenty of parking and places to store bikes, or we have bikes available to rent at a nominal charge on request (please let us know if advance) if you aren't able to bring your own. We provide coffee, tea, milk, and sugar and, when we can find them, some eggs from our free-ranging chickens when they are laying. We can arrange for local produce and wine during your stay at an additional cost. The lodge is also equipped with a nesting box with integrated camera so you can secretly watch the nesting and brooding habits of the resident blue tits in the Spring. We have a travel cot available on request at no extra charge. We are only 3 miles from the nearest railway station at Cholsey so can arrange transport from the station on request if you would like a car-free break. We are on a number of on and off-road cycle routes so we are an ideal location if you are either just passing through or wanting to stick around a bit to fully explore the area. If cycling and walking is not your thing, then there are plenty of sites to see within a very short drive by car. The remains of Wallingford Castle which was the first Norman castle to be commissioned by William the Conqueror is only 2 miles away. The historic village of Ewelme with the oldest continually functioning Church school (founded 1437) in England is also 2 miles away. Henley is 15 minutes by car but there's also a regular bus between Henley and Wallingford. We have a range of local maps in the lodge showing all the walking and biking paths in the area, from short walks to full day hikes and trails. We are situated less than a mile from the Ridgeway National Trail which is a 85 mile mostly off road trail across the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs. There is a dense network of bridle ways and footpaths linking historic towns and villages for you to explore. The lodge is close to both Wallingford and Henley with many gastro pubs in between. The area is steeped in history with Bronze Age hill forts, villages with Roman ancestry, Saxon earthworks and Norman castles and churches. There are farmers markets, regattas, music and art festivals, car and steam rallies all happening throughout spring, summer and autumn within a 10 mile radius. Henley Royal Regatta is perhaps the most famous followed by Henley Festival but the likes of the Wallingford Blues and Beer festival presents some interesting niche activities to entertain you. A list of events going on in the area: Wallingford Regatta 6th May 2018 Wallingford Car Rally 13th May 2018 Wallingford Food Festival May 2018 Wallingford Rugfest Music festival June 2018 Henley Royal Regatta 4th - 8th July 2018 Henley Festival July 2018 Rewind Festival Henley August 2018 Wallingford Bunkfest September 2018

  • We had a great weekend at the Eco Lodge and Tim was very helpful in every way, even sorting my flat battery when we were leaving. It was a very clean and a welcoming Lodge with all the amenities you would like. The bonus of Sky TV to just make it even better for the weekend football. Tim has some very interesting stories to tell and we were very impressed with the Eco Lodge and how it was constructed. Very warm and cosy... Thanks again Tim, great weekend. we will be back in the Summer for sure.

An entirely self contained private home recently converted from a Georgian stable and cottage. The property is adjacent to the owners property but is entirely separate with it’s own secure parking and entrance. Located in a small village, with two pubs and charming village shop on doorstep. Market town of Wallingford (setting for “Midsomer Murders”) is a short walk with many amenities including the River Thames outdoor pool (summer months), many restaurants and shops including a new Waitrose.
The entire property is dedicated to guests and includes three bedrooms, a hall, utility room, and large kitchen, dining and relaxing area. You also have your own off street secure private parking area for one vehicle (including security lights and camera).
Great location to explore historic market town of Wallingford with its beautiful river walks along the Thames Path and castle gardens, setting of many “Midsomer Murders” and the home of Agatha Christie. 10 miles from Henley on Thames with its boat rides along one of the most scenic stretches of the river, and of course it’s regatta and festivals during the summer months. We are 13 miles from the dreaming spires of Oxford steeped in history, and with a state of the art fantastic new shopping, bar and restaurant complex. There are always lovely walks in the Chiltern Hills or along the Ridgeway, or for those with a passion for history or shopping, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Village are both very convenient, around 40 mins by car. There are many National Trust properties within easy reach, Nuffield Place, Greys Court, Basildon Park, and Hughenden, and for those with young children Beale Park is always a great favourite. Excellent dining out options on the doorstep, there is a “hungry horse” restaurant/pub just up the street, and a historic 14th century pub over the road serving traditional ales and good selection of seasonal and traditional British fare utilising local produce. Wallingford has restaurants for almost every budget and taste and of course many cafes/take-away options. The village park (5min walk) has a “state of art” children’s playground including zip wire, and a wide selection of outdoor gym equipment for those keen on a workout. There is also a bookable tennis court, and a further short walk will take you to the outdoor heated swimming pool (summer months), and jubilee splash park both set on the banks of the River Thames.

  • Perfect for my husbands stay as he was working locally. An incredibly warm welcome, brilliant communication, fabulous space and with breakfast items provided. Would not hesitate to recommend Victoria's place.

    Catherine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space is immaculate, and charming. The room is in a separate cottage which gives you privacy but also proximity to Victoria should you need anything. The space offers complimentary breakfast and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The location is great - near the Bear at Home pub, and less than 10min drive from Didcot Parkway train station. Victoria communicated well prior to and throughout our stay and was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this place, and will hopefully return in future.

Part of charming thatched cottage in this attractive South Oxfordshire village, between Didcot (2.5 miles) and Wallingford (3.5 miles). The accommodation has its own entrance, private sitting room - with inglenook fireplace (only use electric fire provided) - and steep, winding stairs leading to the large bedroom with vaulted ceiling and superking bed. Guests will have sole use of the adjoining bathroom. Period features also include low beams, but rule out a shower.
Although there is no kitchen, there is a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster in the sitting room. Orange juice, cereals, yogurts, bread, butter and jam / marmalade are provided for self service breakfasts. There is a small TV in the sitting room. The superking bed can be divided into 2 singles, if requested in advance.
Walnut Tree Cottage is only a short walk from the Crown Public House. There are various other good Pubs, also serving food, in nearby villages. There is a Tesco Store some 2 miles away at Didcot. You can enjoy numerous country walks with beautiful views over the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs, while the lovely historic market town of Wallingford, with Castle Ruins and River Thames flowing past, is only 3.5 miles away.
  • Beautiful part of a country cottage, quiet location, warm and cosy, good sized bedroom with lofty ceiling, softish mattress, bath and plenty of hot water ( no shower but that suited us), downstairs good lounge with small dining chair and tables for breakfast ( supplies included with fridge and microwave ) not a proper kitchen but hosts happy to wash up for us. A few low doorways as expected in a property this age. Lounge has electric fire effect heater in inglenook which was lovely after a walk in the surrounding countryside. Local pub excellent and less than 5 minutes walk. All clean and tidy and very friendly hosts.

  • Walnut Tree Cottage is a lovely period cottage in a small village within easy reach of local towns and walks. It is very warm and cosy with a comfortable sitting area downstairs and a large bedroom and bathroom up some very tight winding stairs. It is really a charming and characterful place to stay. James and Gilly are perfect hosts providing plenty of information if required. There is a fridge, toaster and microwave and plenty of breakfast goods are provided and restocked if needed. Thank you for everything - we will definitely return when in the area.

  • Gilly and James were very nice and helpful. The accommodation was of a high standard and was perfect for us due to family in the village. We particularly appreciated the massive bed and the cereal selection! Would not hesitate to book again if we wanted to be in the area.

A rural fully-equipped self-catering lodge built upon recycled tyre foundations and powered by the wind and sun at the rear of a rural business centre. The lodge is set in a rural location a few miles from the historic town of Wallingford. It has its own fenced garden with South-facing sun deck and views over open fields.
The lounge/dining room, bedroom and kitchen look over open fields to the south, with double French doors leading onto a sunny full-length deck. We have chickens, geese and sheep in the next door fields. The lodge has been designed to absorb any winter sunshine but is shaded throughout the summer months thereby offering a comfortable internal climate throughout the year. There is a small wood burner so the lodge is warm and toasty on those cold winter evenings, as well as energy-efficient infra-red heater panels in the bedroom and bathroom. The lodge has a large open-plan dining/lounge area, with a separate small well-equipped kitchen and a shower room leading off from the entrance hallway. The spacious bedroom with a large double as well as a single bed has double French doors leading onto the front decking. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, gas oven, microwave, toaster, bodum-style coffee pot & frother and a good selection of kitchenware and utensils. A wooden deck with patio furniture runs along the whole of the South-facing side of the building, looking over the garden and fields beyond.
This area is great for walking, cycling and visiting historic sites. The "Ridgeway" which is an 87 mile national trail, is about 3/4 mile away.

  • This is one of the best AirBnb places that we've stays in. Immaculately clean, excellent instructions (communication), fabulous amenities and a beautifully interior decorated place that looks like it belongs in a magazine. Thoughtful touches were the two chocolates on the bed. This was like being in a 5-star hotel with the soft bedding and fluffy towels experience. Hendriette also of a very thoughtful guide of things to do in the area including some books and pamphlets. Wallingford is a great little town for a visit. We didn’t want to leave as we could just stay in such a lovely place.

Herons is a beautiful detached lodge situated on the banks of the River Thames. The interior is stylishly designed and the views are simply wonderful from sunrise to sunset. It is ideally located for exploring the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside, as well as the Thames Market towns of Wallingford, Henley and Abingdon The historic and cultural city of Oxford is only 8 miles away and Bicester Village is a 30 minute drive.
Herons is located on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Dorchester-on-Thames in South Oxfordshire. Herons was built in 2016 and is totally self contained comprising a bedroom with double bed and fitted wardrobes, an open plan sitting room and kitchenette. The bathroom includes a shower, heated towel rail and large mirror. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, oven, 2 ring hob and fridge. High quality White Company cotton bed linen and towels are provided along with bathroom toiletries. Hairdryer, TV, wifi and a Pure radio with bluetooth. Well designed main and accent lighting. Underfloor heating throughout. There is a decking area with a bistro table and chairs to sit and enjoy the incredible views. There is also a secluded area to the side of the lodge with a luxury cocoon bed to lie on and enjoy the views and amazing sunsets we are lucky to witness. We are in a very private, secluded position and it is a very tranquil place to sit and watch the river boats, waterbirds and wildlife. The Thames Path, one of England's most famous national trails is on the other bank of the river.
Sarah's home is located on the outskirts of the stunning village of Dorchester on Thames in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Dorchester is famous for its Abbey which was originally founded in 635 AD and for it's picturesque houses and streets. It is used for filming Midsomer Murders and Agatha Christies Poirot and attracts tourists from around the world. It is a 15 minute walk into the village and it is also very easy to park in the centre of the village. We look across the meadows to the Wittenham Clumps, a famous local landmark. The local market town of Wallingford prides itself on it's variety of independent shops and bars/restaurants. We also have two other riverside towns, Abingdon and Henley on Thames, famous for its regatta. Our garden runs down to the River Thames. The Thames Path one of our most popular national trails can be easily accessed from Dorchester or Clifton Hampden. It is also possible to hire a range of boats/kayaks/canoes from Benson Marina. The Ridgeway, another national trail is nearby and is also wonderful for walkers. Guides for both trails are kept in the lodge. There are many lovely country pubs which are listed on my guide and on the printed list kept in the lodge. Oxford, the oldest English speaking university in the world, is only 8 miles. Tour the various colleges, museums, botanical gardens and you cannot visit Oxford without having a go at punting. The Bear, Oxford's oldest pub oozes character. Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage site and Britain's greatest palace is only half an hour away. Bicester Village is a luxury shopping destination home to more than 160 world famous brands with huge savings on price all year round. It is a 30 minute drive.
  • What a perfect little getaway in a wonderful and unspoilt part of England right next to the river thames. Perfect place and host who is friendly and accommodating. High quality breakfast items provided as well as very thoughtful personal touches in a warm and cosy space (underfloor heating throughout was amazing!). Would highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat! Thanks so much Sarah for your hospitality.

  • Forge House was absolutely perfect for our visit. My son is 6'6" and he never had to duck, ha ha, he got the bed that had room for his legs to hang over. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen fully equipped, with all appliance manuals handy, loved the shower, living room and tv programming excellent, back garden area very lovely. It's right in the centre of Wallingford, with all it's pubs and restaurants, food and other stores a few minutes walk. We visited Oxford a few times, and family in Henley, and both a short drive away. The Ozone Leisure Park with Vue Cinema, just before Oxford, is a great spot for family fun, movies, bowling, pool, table tennis. We did a London excursion on the weekend, and Philippa and Chris were so kind as to allow us to leave the rental car in their driveway nearby, and we took the bus to Reading and a train ride to London - so easy. The BA pilot's strike delayed my departure a couple days, and we were so happy to be able to spend the extra days at Forge House. I would highly recommend this stay for everyone, and hope to visit again the next time I head across the pond. With thanks and kind regards, Lester.

This charming, cosy studio has a private entrance and off road parking so come and go as you please. It benefits from private downstairs cooking facilities, microwave and fridge. The upstairs consists of a very spacious double bedroom and en suite shower and toilet. Large velux windows show views over the rolling hills of Oxfordshire. There's a table and tv area with two comfy chairs. My son used to manage this airbnb so please see his account for reviews: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/7673808
Self check-in system enables you to come and go whenever. It's not the most modern flat/space in the world but is very comfortable. We are near the Benson RAF base so occasionally there are some army helicopters which go overhead. They are infrequent but it could be the night you stay...we can't predict! But we want to be upfront and honest so there are no surprises about this just in case. THIS IS ONLY APPLICABLE SPORADICALLY DURING THE WEEK NOT ON WEEKEND!
Benson is a charming little village with a wonderful selection of pubs and a famous tea house on the river Thames called The Waterfront
  • A super clean, well appointed, cosy place to stay. The breakfast touches were appreciated, as was the very warm welcome. Thank you

  • This little place was ideal for me, somewhere to stay for a couple of nights whilst working in nearby Wallingford. I had all the amenities needed to cook, wash and sleep. Also great views and, due to the window above the bed, you can sleep in the moonlight. Very nice hosts, Richard even offered to pick me up from Benson Marina when he saw the torrential rain. Would happily stay here again.

Double room available very close to the River Thames and a few minutes walk from the centre of Wallingford. It is just a short drive to Cholsey Station and trains to Paddington. Buses to Oxford and Reading stop at the end of the road. There is parking on the road outside. I have 2 bathrooms, so you will have almost exclusive use of the bathroom next door to your room. There is a small shared kitchen you can use to make snacks, tea, coffee etc. if you wish to provide these for yourself.
You can request access to beautiful communal gardens, which lead down to the Thames Path and the banks of the River Thames. There is also a public footpath very close by, which leads directly to the Thames.
Wallingford is a beautiful, historic old market town, with lots to explore and places to eat out. The old Corn Exchange shows regular cinema screenings. There are beautiful countryside and river walks you can access directly from the house as well as cycleways to explore. There is a tourist information office in the market place.

Beautiful cottage set in private island grounds facing the river Thames. Access to cottage is on foot over a gravel bridge. We have a washing machine off site. This property used to be part of a working water mill, nearby boat hire on the river or I may be able to sort a canoe out for you. Perfect for long walks by the river. The heron is in residence on the island. You can spot the odd kingfisher and maybe an otter! We can supply a babysitter too.
Entire use of cottage and shared use of island grounds and canoe use too. This cottage is right next to the Thames Path that'll take you to Oxford or Wallingford. Please note, the pool WILL BE CLOSED FROM THE END OF OCTOBER 2019
Very close, with direct buses to Oxford and Reading. Walking distance to Benson village for pubs, cafe etc. Great walking routes close to the Chilterns.
  • Clare's place is lovely, beautiful setting. Well located for local walks and exploring nearby towns. Unfortunately the river was too swollen to go boating but we've got the offer to go back when it safe! Thanks!!

Comfortable accommodation, and great base from which to explore surrounding area, including an easy and picturesque stroll into Wallingford, where there are pubs, shops etc. Oxford is not too far away either, but get the Park and Ride, as the cost of parking in Oxford is ridiculous.

Double room in 'The Bungalow', in a professionals house. Close to town centre and public transport. Set just 1/4 mile away from town centre and close to the river with easy access to Oxford and Reading.
Own double room with double bed, I have a inflatable mattress if you want to make a twin room. Towels are provided.
Wallingford is steeped in history, which makes it a very interesting place to stay - William the Conqueror crossed the Thames here in 1066! The riverside and Castle Gardens are perfect places to relax, while the cafes, pubs, restaurant, antiques and independent shops, museum, cinema and the Friday market and Saturday farmers market give it a vibrant feel. In Wallingford you're also in the realms of murder mystery fiction - Agatha Christie lived here and the setting for 'Mid Summer Murders! The Thames Path and Ridgeway also run through Wallingford so great for walks and exploration.

The university city of Oxford with all of its historic and cultural attractions is only a 20-minute drive away.
Brodie’s features a double bed with a sumptuous memory foam mattress, hypo-allergenic pillows, and quilt and quality linens. It is tastefully furnished with a mix of modern and mid-century pieces, and comes complete with en-suite shower room and hand painted kitchenette with fridge, washing machine and simple cooking facilities, including induction hob and combination oven with grill and microwave. This fully centrally heated apartment is equipped with a Flat screen TV (Freeview) and DVD player, and a selection of films, books board games to keep you entertained. Unusually for such a rural location we have superfast broadband connection (both Ethernet and Wi-Fi). The apartment was refurbished to a very high standard in November 2017 and offers a stylish and private haven for those holidaying or on business. In the village, there are two traditional British pubs to choose from, both serving excellent food and each only a 10-minute walk from us. Within a 5-minute drive there is a range of local shops and within 15 minutes, numerous great restaurants, including Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.

  • A fantastic escape from a hectic week. John and Sue’s place is immaculate, cosy, well equipped and with excellent amenities. There were nice touches and goodies left for our arrival - the chocolate croissants with a cuppa in the morning were superb. A walk to the local friendly pub was easy and a treat with a varied range of specials and lively atmosphere. Wasn’t far from where we lived but it was one of the best nights of the year - so quiet and relaxed, loved it.

Southampton" The Lodge offers private, self-catering accommodation for 1-2 in a rural setting with lovely views yet it is only a few minutes walk away from the amenities that the historical town of Wallingford has to offer.
Away from busy roads The Lodge is in a peaceful and secluded setting, it forms the wing of our home and Tony and I are your only immediate neighbours. As such it is perfect for business people or academics visiting to work in the area or anyone requiring solitude and a relaxing period away. Light, airy and spacious it comprises a large kitchen-diner with study area and easy chairs, a mezzanine bedroom- 1st floor open-plan, a wet room with basin, a toilet and shower and an entrance lobby. The doors to the living room open onto a terrace and formal garden. Underfloor heating and instant hot water delivered by a ‘combi’ boiler make for a high level of comfort and everything required for short term stays is provided. A Welcome pack and a supper/breakfast basket await your arrival.
There are many walks and cycle rides to be taken from the front door. Howbery Business Park, hosting 52 organisations including HR Wallingford and the Environmental Agency, is just 10 to 15 minutes walk away. The Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International ( CABI) takes only 5 minutes on foot. Within a stone’s throw is St Mary's Church, a charming little 12th century flint church well worth a visit. Another few minutes walk and you'll discover The Ridgeway, an 87 mile long route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers. It will lead you to the heart of the beautiful Chilterns. Wallingford is an historic typical English market town set on the River Thames. It is most famous for being the place where William the Conqueror‘s invading armies forded the river in 1066. The 11th Century castle built shortly after and now in ruins is an atmospheric site bounded on one side by beautiful gardens. The town is busy and offers major food and other retailers as well as a theatre/cinema. Local markets take place on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • We stayed at Deborahs accommodation for the weekend when visiting family in Dorchester on Thames. As a family of 4 with 2 little boys we wanted a place to stay that was conveniently located and that was affordable. We bought a travel cot for our littlest and there was a single and double bed provided which suited us perfectly. The rooms were all sparkling clean and so nicely decorated and we found that absolutely everything we needed was provided. Deborah also kindly said it would fine to use the beautiful garden! It was perfect for us! The kitchen has everything you need to cook and so we took full advantage whilst we were there having a lovely breakfast. It is in such a beautiful location and convenient for oxford town centre where we went to the theatre in the evening. The children loved running around the large garden and playing on the swing and we felt very secure having a coded gate at the front entrance which was great. Deborah responded to all my questions so quickly and provided ideas for parks nearby and nearest food shops etc. It was also lovely that she came to say goodbye when we left. A lovely stay! Thank you so much

  • We had the loveliest stay - I can’t recommend the accommodation enough. There is lots of space, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. There was more than enough room for myself and my two daughters. The kitchen had everything we needed & Debbie was in touch straight away for any questions we had. The extra touches were lovely, such as the games and extras in the fridge. There were some great ideas for walks, which we did, and the area quiet is peaceful and absolutely stunning. Highly recommended!

  • What a fantastic place in a a beautiful location. We were really impressed with the accommodation, the amenities and cleanliness of everything. It was clear that Deborah cares a lot about her hosts and puts a lot of effort into making everything as enjoyable as possible. We stayed on a boiling hot weekend and Deborah was kind enough to lend us an electric fan which was a lovely touch. We’d love to stay again in the future and would recommend Deborah’s place to anyone visiting the area!

  • We received a really warm welcome from Dave and Liz. My parents arrived before us and Dave and Liz had a good chat with them making them feel very welcome, which was very much appreciated. After the initial introduction we did our own thing but knew that Dave and Liz would be around downstairs in their part of the house should we need them. Before our trip Dave was really helpful in answering my messages. The house is spotless and homely and the rooms were ideal for a family. The two dogs are keep out of the way but Dave and Liz were happy for the kids to stroke them as they love dogs. Our children enjoyed the swings in the front garden. There is a great waterfront cafe just 5 minutes away and a good country pub down the next lane 5 minutes walk.

  • David and liz is a really warm, patient, enthusiastic couple. They would like to warmly give you an introduction about Benson and try to help people with the best they can do. The rooms are decent, colorful and really let people feel like living in their own home. In sum, David and liz and their house are awesome, it would be a good experience that stay in their house.
