This is a gem of a find and very secluded for the ideal getaway. Theresa was very helpful and the perfect superhost. I recommend this place hugely!

We’ve stayed at one of Theresa’s other listings, and it was stunning just as this one is. Be prepared to veg out in luxury and treat yourself to movies and activities. This suite is absolutely beautiful and enjoyed every minute staying there. The area that the property sits in is remote, quiet and very calming and enjoyable. Would recommend, especially for families :)

Such a lovely space - the cinema screen and hot tub bath make it really special. Incredibly clean and has a luxury feel. Theresa even sorted balloons, chocolates and petals making it extra special. Just take note there is no microwave- a fridge, kettle and toaster are all there but not a “kitchen” as such. Would definitely stay again and have already recommended it to some friends!

Amazing converted stables. The space in the lounge was huge and the cinema screen is awesome. Really comfy bed and great walk in shower and jacuzzi bath. Will definatley be going back in the summer, can imagine using the courtyard with bbq and walking down by the lake would be great.

The cabin on the lake is so beautiful I would recommend it to anyone looking for a little bit of rest and relaxing. The cabin itself is beautiful, so comfortable and had everything we needed and more. We were lucky enough to get some sunshine so could enjoy the decking it really is beautiful. We had such a lovely two nights here. The cabin is really cosy and homely inside. Looking out onto the lake is great! Plus there are so many places nearby to go on walks and Juliette has provided plenty of maps. Thanks for a great stay.

What a fantastic place in an ideal location for visiting the local area. Cannot recommend enough and a superb host who ensured the place was spotless with lots of little extras to assist e.g. Maps of the local area, books, dvds and games to ensure days out were enjoyed, local hostelries were known and to prevent the tv being used too much. This is a charming cabin for a romantic break.... plenty of wood left for a fire, thoughtful touches like nespresso pods and lots of blankets. The kitchen is well stocked. The wildlife is amazing. Lewes is a lovely town locally. we would recommend!!

Lovely location, picturesque when waking up looking out on to the lake. Cabin was clean and warm with heater on when arriving, and lovely soft towels laid out ready. Lots of utensils and a lovely local pub and cafe. Definitely worth the stay!

Incredible period property set in acres of open country and woodland. Period features throughout married perfectly with modern amenities (sunken hot tub bath to name just one) Fantastic place to relax, we just wish we could have stayed longer.

Expect a little slice of luxury in an historic property with beautiful features, great bathroom, sunken jacuzzi and mood lighting. Very peaceful and relaxing and perfect for a couple who want to get away for a while. Waking up in beautiful grounds is a must! We also recommend the mill house carvery just down the road. This accommodation is everything you would want to have a romantic break. The setting is peaceful and stunning. We can not wait to return.

Fantastic space for a single or very snugly duo. Don't expect hot showers, ceramic hobs or electric. All off grid, loo in church cross the way. But for peace, rejuvenation, health and silence (apart from wind in the trees and cock pheasants calling for a mate)you can't be beat. plus the superlative Ram Inn down the road for breakfast lunch and dinner.....! If you can't get through cos of virus inflamation goggle peter Firle.

Find a stripped back, simple space with all that you really need. Wild winds from the Downs to rock you to sleep, rooks to waken you and primroses to greet you in the Spring mornings. (Plus a great pub 5 minutes walk away....)

This is a very sweet and tranquil place, with a warm welcome.

The hut is nestled in a lovely spot on the edge of the village, and was perfect for me as someone wanting to get away from it for a few days. As Larkin says, "only the young can be alone freely" and whether you agree with this or not, as someone who is not young, and has a fair number of responsibilities, to have a soulful bolt hole to skedaddle to is a great boon. When I took leave of the place and thanked Peter as I left, he said that the hut was becoming a sanctuary for some. For me, it was more of a haven - for me there is something very boat-like in its compact, unfussy, recycled elegance . I look forward to clambering on board again.

We loved staying in Alison’s comfortable cabin. What a beautiful view! Great location. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore the South Downs area.

Jackson’s Cabin is an absolute gem! Alison & Charlie’s hospitality is amazing, the cabin is the perfect escape for a weekend away from busy life. The flowers, homemade marmalade & extra touches were lovely, and we loved sitting by the fire after a long day walking. The walk down to the coast is beautiful, with great stops along the way in villages like Litlington. The Sussex Ox around the corner from the house is great for Sunday lunch and there are lots of local walks too! Thanks again, we’ll be back!

A beautiful cosy retreat in a fantastic location. 3 days of walking (routes from the doorstep) and trail running in the South Downs. The weather was wild and it was wonderful to return to a wood burning stove, in a homely, cosy and beautifully presented cabin. Lovely little touches throughout - even had scones and jam on arrival - thank you.

Deep in the country but reachable by public transport, Allison's cabin is surrounded by easy walks to quaint villages, pubs and even a brewery. Sparkling clean, warm and peaceful cabin, great for a writing, reading and exploring the South Downs.

We have just spent a lovely cosy Christmas in Jackson’s Cabin, it was our second stay and hope to return again.

We had a wonderful time in Jackson’s cabin, the photos make it look lovely but it’s even nicer in real life - it’s such a lovely space, clean, modern and has everything you’d ever need, lots of maps, loads of kitchen utensils, board games, and the view out of the window is beautiful. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back, it’s definitely one of the nicest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed at, and Alice was a fantastic host. Would recommend for a peaceful weekend escape in the country.

We had a lovely, relaxing time in Treetops and would 100% recommend staying here! Comfy bed, hot tub, beautiful views and close to the Observatory, which is definitely worth a visit. Idyllic getaway in a properly cosy barn conversion. The VHS player and selection of videos was a nice touch! The hot tub lovely on a freezing evening. The peace and quiet. Kitchen has all the equipment you need and you'll spend longer than you need to in the lovely shower. Just don't tell anyone cos we want to book again!

We had a lovely time staying here!! Despite storm Dennis making an appearance we still made the most of our time. Sam was an extremely helpful host and we didn’t feel like anything was too much trouble. We really enjoyed all the VHS tapes which kept us entertained during the storm and the hot tub was an added bonus! We are home feeling very relaxed (the bed is incredibly comfy) and would definitely stay again!

We always have fun staying at the yurt, it was our third time. Even when it's cold and windy the wood burner keeps the yurt nice and cosy. There's everything you need to enjoy a very easy camping adventure. Plus Lewes is charming with lots of antique shops and cafes. We'll definitely be back.

Have just spent 2 lovely nights at Elena's yurt. I highly reccomend it. It was decorated really nicely, the facilities were good and log burner kept us nice a toasty inside even while storm Dennis raged outside. Elena was really great to make sure we had all we needed and when we ran out of firewood we were able to pick up some more from the hotel down the road. When we had a problem with the shower Elena also arranged for us to use the ones in the nearby hotel. Thank you!

Great host. Great accommodation just as described. It's a real experience staying in a Yurt. I stayed I February, the outside temperature was about 9°c, it felt a little chilly and damp in the Yurt but that is to be expected Winter. The Yurt itself and facilities are great. The host is fantastic. Overall highly recommended. I bet this would make an amazing holiday break in Summer. In winter it is good but make sure to wrap up warm! Also bring a few bright torches as it can be dark.

The yurt was beautiful in a gorgeous setting. We were there in January but it was cosy and warm with the log burner. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We booked a VERY last minute stay in the yurt at the beginning of January. Elena was quick to respond and very accommodating of our short notice plans. The yurt is magical but if staying in winter bring layers and socks! Would highly recommend for an off grid experience.

Our weekend at The Pekes was exactly what we were after, a relaxing and peaceful escape in beautiful surroundings. Kildare was a great host and went out of his way to ensure everything was spot on during our stay.

It was an incredible vacation, thanks to the warm and kind welcome of Kildare and the wonderful house we've stayed in. Everything was prepared perfectly well, we enjoyed fireplace each evening, visite a lot of nearby cities and places, the atmosphere in the house was exciting as huge history felt in each piece of it.

Guests can expect a wonderfully unique experience. All the properties at Pekes Manor are better "in person" than the photos might lead you to believe. The setting is what makes the stay so enjoyable. Rolling fields, and perfect tranquility. Our wedding guests stayed in all of the properties and loved their experiences. All amenities were as described, and Kildare and his team were a joy to work with. Overall, an incredible experience.

Having just returned from a weekend with a couple of girls friends in The Wing we are in awe of what a fabulous place Pekes is. The perfect place to unwind and get away from it all, leaving the stresses of family life and work behind. We loved the fabulous architecture, period furniture and artefacts that filled our home-from-home. As we sat in the hot-tub and then swam in the pool surrounded by lush foliage and mosaics we had to keep pinching ourselves to check it was real. Next time we'll be sure to make use of the sauna too. The Wing contained everything we needed for the weekend - milk was in the fridge on arrival and there were enough logs in basket to enable us to have a roaring fire on the first night. Kildare checked in on us the next morning to see if everything was alright and brought us more logs for a reasonable cost. Pekes really is a hidden gem of a place. We promise to return as soon as the opportunity arises.

Our family really enjoyed the week we spent in the Wing at Pekes. It was very spacious for the five of us. It was a bit cold, but we turned the heating up and the beds and duves were very warm and comfy so we weren’t cold at night at all. The kids loved the heated pool. The location was perfect for us, quick drive away from the seaside. Also we went for walks in the local area and had very nice Sunday lunch in the local pub, The Gun . We had a great holiday all together.

The Pekes is a gem of a place in the Sussex countryside, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, especially the swimming pool nestled inside a magical greenhouse. We had some confusion with guests staying in the main house next door to the Wing, which wasn't great, but Kildare and his team were very responsive, and his staff even gave us a lift to the station the following morning rather than letting us book a taxi. The team was keen to know that we were comfortable and happy, and that makes us want to return.

Caroline was the perfect host, i would stay here again and again. I had everything I needed, most importantly serenity. I have made a new friend and will be sure to stay again one day. I have no negative comments, only gratitude ❤

Caroline is the consummate host, and she’s thought of everything to make her studio room perfect. She very kindly accommodated my changing plans and was always available to answer my questions. The studio is light, airy, modern, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The kitchen has everything needed, including an induction hob and oven/microwave combo. The only thing lacking is a freezer compartment in the mini fridge, but the trade-off there is that the fridge is absolutely silent with no annoying compressor noises. There’s a slight privacy issue with the foot traffic just outside the main window, but I found it manageable. There’s easy access both to challenging hill walks and level riverside walks, as well as historic attractions and plenty of shops, both chain and independent. There’s bus service nearby if you need to leave town, but the center of Lewes itself is just a short walk away. I would have been happy to have stayed longer if the studio hadn't been, unsurprisingly, fully booked after me. Highly recommended for a stay of any length.

I've been living in this perfect apartment for six weeks, and I can't find the words to express how well I've felt. The apartment has absolutely everything that you need (and more), the heating is fantastic, everything is new and it's spotlessly clean. There's no single thing I can complain about. Caroline and her husband are fantastic, they've made me feel really at home. I'm looking forward to being here again.

Stayed at the annex for 3 nights during the beginning of the lock down. It is a gorgeous, stylish and cosy home, situated in heart of nature. Everything was provided for a warm welcome and for comfort and ease. Karen left good quality bread, orange juice, milk, eggs blueberries and other essential foods in the fridge. Coffee, tea, even cookies. There were enough logs and kindling for a fire for one night which was lovely. The bed has a deep mattress topper which makes the bed very comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. Would highly recommend this home for a lovely retreat or a walking holiday. Did not meet Karen in person. But all communication was responsive and helpful. Thank you.

WOW! This place was absolutely beautiful, we didn't want to leave! Lovely location, it was so quiet and peaceful. Karen is a great host, both with her welcome to check we were settled, and with the wonderfully thoughtful touches and amenities she provides. Fab location. A beautiful little hideaway near Ashdown forest. Karen provided useful information for the area, and we were surprised to find some breakfast supplies and other little touches. The log fire was a big hit for us!

Wheat Cottage is a lovely, spacious countryside retreat in Sussex. We stayed for 5 nights in November to attend a guitar course nearby, but also enjoyed some local pubs and the Vanguard Way walking path, on the doorstep! Katie is welcoming and helpful; the cottage is perfectly clean and gives a very at-home feeling. Would recommend and we will be staying again!

The cottage was really charming and very comfortable to stay in, and located in stunning countryside with walks straight from the property. There is lots to see and do in the area and in the cottage there are some really handy leaflets for local attractions. Really enjoyed our stay, and I would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing break.

Wheat Cottage is a great base for exploring the area - both local footpaths and trips further afield. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well-equipped. Don't forget a torch if walking back to the cottage after dark!

The lodge is warm. spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for myself and my two children and we had absolutely everything we needed. Communication was excellent throughout and we will definitely be back!

Very nice lodge, deally placed for reaching many of the tourist attractions in the area. Mike was very helpful and communication was very good. Slight down side is the proximity to the main road which can be heard at certain times and car doors being slammed at night. Lodge is nicely equipped and can be kept toasty warm though we really missed having hooks for outdoor clothing in the hall. Overall enjoyed our stay, feels very safe with the electric gate. Parking space is a little on the small side if you have a very big car.

Tea. Coffee, sugar provided. Decorated to high standard and hosts were quick to respond and met us at the lodge to help us to settle in easier

Suzanne was a lovely and warm host and her home is beautiful and peaceful. It's perfect if you just want some time out or want to explore Lewes /Brighton (very close on the train). When I arrived I had a warm bath with salts and essential oils, a nice cup of tea and read one of her many interesting books. She also provided breakfast/tea and coffee for me which was a thoughtful touch. Overall I would highly recommend- Suzanne really is a suoerhost!

After walking 22km, I was exhausted and famished. Suzanne ran a bath (with epson salt and scented trinkets), directed me to a delicious local fish platter and was perfectly pleasant throughout my stay.

Indeed a cosy cottage but with plenty of space. The surroundings are stunning set in rural Sussex yet the location offers easy access to facilities in Uckfield & Lewes. Charlie was extremely helpful and responsive.

Everting you could possibly need. The cottage itself is huge! Loads of room and great crawling territory for our little girl. Fresh free range eggs, bead, butter and milk supplied. Cosy cottage- Charlie had been in to get it warmed up for us and put the Christmas lights on. We sadly had been delayed with weather and arrived after check-in but Charlie was so accommodating! We would heartily recommend a stay here!

It is a great cottage on the countryside. The use of a car is recommended. The cottage is in a beautiful walking area. An absolute must if you love nature.

The cottage is set in a beautiful quiet location is spotlessly clean, stylish decor and the bedrooms are enormous. The cottage is really warm and cosy there is a log burner we didn't use but imagine it would be lovely lighting that on a cold winter night. The fresh eggs (a couple of double yolkers), bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee and sugar was much appreciated. Charlie is an amazing host, check in and out was fast and efficient. I highly recommend this amazing cottage great value for money book now to avoid disappointment!

What a great place to stay for the night! Lovely little annex on a quiet road with off-road parking & secure location. Close to Bodiam Castle & Battle. Brilliant use of the space - everything you need in one room (incl. Iron, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, plates, cups, cutlery, etc.) Comfy bed (with a decent amount of good pillows too!) & Comfy sofa with ok TV. Very clean & tidy when we arrived Really straightforward check-in via key safe. Excellent communication with Dawn, the host. She recommended some lovely local restaurants & was very accomodating of our late check-out request when we overslept (!) Really good value for money, would recommend.

Whilst we weren't on holiday, the house and location are nevertheless beautiful and we would definitely book again when life as we know it returns to normal. Would highly recommend to those seeking the quintessential English countryside experience.

Jilly was a super host, always available to attend our needs. The cottage was a real joy to spend time in, full of personality, flooded with natural light from large sash windows, snug of an evening with the log burner. The village was delightful and the surrounding landscape second to none. Faultless!

Very comfortable stay in a great little village

When we arrived, the village was partially flooded and the main road into the village was impassable. The back road was totally clogged with people picking up their children from school and we had to drive for about 30 minutes to access Jilly’s place from the other side of town. For a while, we didn’t think we would actually be able to get to the house and when we finally parked, we were confronted with another flood that made us think we’d never get to our destination. In steps Jilly, walking her dog and randomly bumping into us in our moment of need! (We were walking in the wrong direction, despite her brilliant instructions!). Jilly showed us to the house and saw us in. She is super friendly and helpful as had even arranged flowers and fizz to be in the house because we were celebrating my wife’s birthday. The TV in the house is tiny and the shelves are packed with books. This says everything about the place in terms of how relaxing it is. We lit the log burner each night, put on music, read and chilled out. A tv free weekend that did us the world of good. On Saturday we wanted to plan a walk that avoided the flooding. Jilly stepped in again, after having messaged her, she popped by and gave us some great suggestions as to where we might go. We took her advice and had a brilliant walk on the Downs. I don’t want to make out that the house was without it’s comforts. It had everything we needed and more. The art was fun, the kitchen fully stocked - the dishwasher was perfect! We had breakfast in The Singing Kettle on Saturday and the village shop is amazing (proper quality local produce and amazing friendly service). The fact that the village was cut off by floods and water works meant it was super quiet and we found it to be completely calming the minute we arrived. Thank You Jilly.

Barney and his parents were so welcoming and friendly. I couldn't ask for more from an AirBnb stay. I knew it was going to be lovely there and already know the area well, so really looked forward to it. Yet it even exceeded my hopes. It gave me the quiet spot I hoped for in which to relax and escape during a busy time of visits and get togethers with people in the area. It's a gorgeous place with plenty of space for a single soul or a couple. And it's cosy too. Looking up through the attic windows to see a full moon and starlight, from my bed, was magical. I loved it! Also; It was good to stay somewhere through AirBnb that knew what the 2nd B stood for. I find so many places have missed the point of this site and the exchange between people that it creates a space for. Whether we meet our hosts, see them only once or have a cuppa with them, to me it is all about a human connection. This is what sets the experience apart from a holiday let. It is more than an exchange of money in order to have a bed for the night. This is a family who get that and my stay has made me want to give the site a chance again after a while of not using it.

Super cosy, peaceful escape!

We really loved our stay at Barney's cabin. It was a very comfortable stay, and the surroundings are truly beautiful for hiking. We would highly recommend this place.

I have never stayed anywhere where so much thought and kindness has been shown. From home made jam and marmalade to bread, butter, milk and juice all ready. There are cushions for the outside chairs and logs for the fire. The decor is eclectic and beautiful and the kitchen and bathroom sparkling and modern. I was reluctant to leave. I hope to return. Great communication, easy to find and what a lovely place. It looks small from the outside but has EVERYTHING you’d need as a couple or small family. The kitchen is well equipped with lovely vintage crockery, bedding and bathroom are contemporary and luxurious. We’re planning on going back already! X

It's a lovely little place. Maybe a little too small for a long stay, but very smart all the same. Excellent kitchen diner, comfy bed and a smart little bathroom. Got Netflix and Prime for TV. All in all, a great place for a short stay.

We were attending a wedding at Buxted Park Hotel and this was a really convenient place to stay. Brand new and beautifully clean, wish we had been able to spend more time there! Lovely touches like milk in the fridge and dressing gowns made it feel like home

Thank you for being such an accommodating host Josephine. Nothing was too much trouble, The coach house was spacious, super clean and beautiful throughout. We had an amazing few days here and would definitely come back again. We visited the seven sisters just a short drive away and braved it at the top in the strong winds. The surrounding fields were nice to walk around and visited the lake to just 15 minutes away. Nice to be away from the hustle of the city and enjoy some peace.

We had a really peaceful stay over the new year. Jo's place is spacious and very clean. There are lots of walks around and supermarkets are a short drive away so you won't be caught out. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Jo was very responsive. I would recommend a stay at the coach house!

The place is tastefully decorated to a very high finish. The kitchen is well-stocked with equipment and some useful stock items. Lovely and quiet so great for work and relaxation. Good supermarkets are very close by. We'll be back for sure.

A beautiful house perfect for couples looking to escape the city for some time away. The house is cosy, warm and very spacious. The garden, main room and master bedroom are large and wonderfully maintained. The farm itself is quiet and private. You’re a 15-20 minute drive from Eastbourne and the sea. We had a lovely time.

Jack’s Cottage is a great place to stay for a weekend, if not longer. The open plan design gives a real feeling of space, enables you to enjoy the huge views whilst being cosy. Melissa and her husband were always on hand and made sure we had all we needed.

What a beautiful, relaxing place to unwind. The views are panoramic and just miles and miles of countryside - highly recommend if you need to unplug from a busy life.

This is the second time we've stayed in the cottage, and it was just as good! A lovely fire in the woodburner, luxurious bath upstairs and stunning views all around.

Perfect peaceful getaway. The views from the fields off the back of the cottage are stunning. Cottage is cosy with stylish touches, a real retreat; plenty to do new nearby or just enjoy doing nothing; feels really secluded. Melissa was thoughtful and easily contacted should we have needed anything. Late check out given without request which was a real delight as we didn't want to leave! Wish we could have stayed longer but we would definitely come back!

Jacks Cottage is quite frankly spectacular. A beautiful, airy and idyllic barn with stunning views of the Sussex countryside. Really cosy and homely place to stay (with the freestanding bath being a personal highlight) I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet few days away or to use as a base to go exploring around Sussex and Kent.

Melissa is an amazing host. She showed great hospitality and very quick in responding. We had a weekend escape with my family. The cottage has a beautiful garden and very close to one walking path to the local pub. The kitchen was fully equipped and there were enough staff(spices, tea, coffee, sugar, bread etc) to prepare breakfast. Melissa also left some complimentary items in the fridge (many thanks for those) . Beds were very comfy. Certainly recommend having a Sunday roast at the Star Inn pub. Over all, we enjoyed our stay very much.

This little place is a gem. Location fantastic. So near shops. Restaurants. Pubs. Parks. Walks. 20 mins drive to a beautiful beach and coastal walk to seven sisters. Amazing views. What a wonderful and cozy spot! A perfect place for a weekend getaway and I imagine even lovelier in the late spring/summer when the garden is in full bloom (though the fire was equally as nice for our time there). Aine and Stu were great throughout our time and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Recommend!

Stu and Aine provided a perfect getaway for the weekend. The cabin is a perfect little place to get cosy, light a fire and relax. All amenities are modern and stylish and there’s so many nice little touches that have been added by Stu and Aine. They were really generous and helpful, provided great local tips on what to do, the communication was first class and the breakfast they provided was delicious! We shall return!

This air&b was in the most ideallic location but not far from anything. It's was beautifully quiet and restful, nestled in the countryside. Wanted for nothing from an accommodation point of view which far exceeded expectations. Particularly loved the private sunny courtyard, the two fantastic and perfectly formed bathrooms, comfy beds, use of a washing machine, a clothes line in the courtyard, the local walks up the lanes, comfy courtyard chairs to sit in in the sun and last but by no means least a plethora of useful items one might need whilst away from home making it all feel like a home from home. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

This is a lovely little cottage set in within beautiful grounds. The cottage was sparkling clean and well- equipped in every aspect from towels to pots, various teas and a bag of toys and books to keep our son entertained. Perfect place to stay in East Sussex. The cottage is excellent, with everything you need for a stay including Netflix which we took advantage of (the weather unfortunately was unremitting rain!) Everything was in very good order and sparkling clean throughout. The courtyard garden is lovely even though the rain meant we couldn't enjoy sitting in it, we did enjoy looking out at it. The bed in the double room is really comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space etc. which is always useful but not always available in cottages. Kitchen fully fitted out - we ate in a couple of times but also went to the King's Head in the village a couple of times. A lovely, friendly pub, with good pub food and we both enjoyed the Winter Solstice ale. Our dog, Bertie, was made welcome everywhere we went and he really enjoyed the King's Head too as he managed to wrangle quite a few dog biscuits out of them. Highly recommend this cottage even in the appalling weather we had.

Simply first-class, spotlessly clean, modern, warm, quiet and well-appointed accomodation in a beautiful rural setting, whilst close to all amenities. From this location we visited Eastbourne, Uckfield, Tunbridge Wells, Rotherfield, Cross-In Hand, Lewes, Brighton, Newhaven, Ashdown Forrest and The Long Man of Wilmington. The pub was great, the Pizza Van on Wednesday night was delicious. Highly recommended!

The accommodation is perfect for us as we needed 2 en suite bedrooms. Spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen. The location is superb, down a quiet private driveway within a couple of minutes walk of a cosy village pub with it’s own brewery. Lovely private garden which would be perfect in the summer for al fresco dining.

Beautifully decorated cottage equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing stay (and more!). This place feels like a lot of thought has gone into it and is perfectly located for trips to many local towns and beaches. The pub and village shop are welcoming and less than ten minutes walk for days when you don’t want to drive. Thoroughly recommended!

Peke's is set in stunning countryside and the gate cottage is very comfortable and charming. This is the ultimate country retreat, with local free range eggs for breakfast, plenty of walking routes around the South Downs to explore and a working fire place to snuggle beside in the colder months. Also extremely convenient if you are attending a wedding at Hawthbush farm, which is only a 20 minute walk away. A big thanks to everyone at Peke's, especially for staying in touch about the coat I left behind!

Steve, is a brilliant host. His communication was great right from the beginning of booking up until we arrived on Valentine’s Day. He popped in to say hello and gave very good directions to the pub for the evening. The space was very clean and very welcoming. Although only for one night, we had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. We were also chuffed to see the chickens make an appearance too!

You will find a lovely host waiting for you, with a gorgeously decorated, stunning room and chickens in the garden with a view of the field behind. We really enjoyed our stay.

A really beautiful, peaceful, green space with a safe and enclosed garden for dogs. French doors looking out onto trees and field. Bed wonderfully comfortable. TV/Wifi worked well. Kettle and fridge with icebox, mugs and bowls, tea, coffee, milk provided (nothing more in the way of cooking facilities). A lovely place to stay. Would definitely return.

Absolutely Fabulous! If you are looking for a safe, tranquil environment....then please do book this place! The views are just stunning and the outside space is so much bigger than the photos show. We were greeted by Linda on arrival and after a quick tour were left to our own devices. ( Linda also left us plenty of wood for the fire pit which we co9uld use whenever we wished. Plenty of outdoor areas to make use of. Inside, everything has been thought of in order to make for a perfect stay. The bed is probably one of the best we have stayed in ( making it hard to leave for work in the mornings!) Linda and Ron are just really good people, who have created a very lovely environment and are so friendly. Cannot wait to have another stay here.

Barley Cottage is very spacious and comfortable, and exactly as it appears in the photographs. It’s also in a beautiful spot in the Sussex countryside. Katie was responsive and easy to deal with, despite the rather unusual and challenging circumstances of the coronavirus outbreak!

Barley Cottage is the largest of three cottages owned and run by the award winning hospitality of Katie of Granary Cottages. We were fortunate to stay at Barley Cottage which was a self contained cottage with two bedrooms and ensuites bathroom upstairs and a lovely sun filled entrance foyer, dining, kitchen and sitting room. The space was very cosy and comfortable with adequate room for our family of four adults and one toddler. With central and underfloor heating, a fully equipped kitchen, we wanted for nothing else. The cottage was a clean and luxurious accommodation with wall to wall carpeting where appropriate. This well thought of cottage is a complete home and all one needs is to bring their suitcase thru the door. Katie was very responsive and helpful. She had installed a baby gate which was much appreciated. We would stay at Barley Cottage again in a heartbeat.

We loved staying in this lovely cottage. A perfect place to return to, and snuggle down, after a day of exploring East Sussex. We will be back!

Great property in a lovely place.

Sarah is such a fantastic host and makes you feel so welcome. The fresh bread and breakfast each morning was such a nice touch. The barn is spectacular and is located in wonderful countryside with many pubs within 10 minutes walk. We battled Storm Dennis during our stay and the roaring fire kept us warm. This place is a great base for exploring the rest of the South Downs and I would highly recommend for a short or long stay.

A truly lovely stay, gorgeous tea & scones on arrival which set the tone for a wonderful few days. The cottage is very warm & homely. It’s a perfect location for getting out & about. The little dog called in on us Sunday evening, I think she smelt the lamb we were cooking. She came in and was very friendly. The log burner was wonderful, we had it on both Saturday & Sunday evening. Really lovely cottage, full of character. Beautiful waking up to the fields out the back & even saw a few bunnies jumping around. Joy always replies with quick responses and allowed us extra time this morning to check out. Would thoroughly recommend
