This studio is above our detached garage, about 30ft. in front of our house. It has a private entrance with stairs up to the loft. Perfect for one or two people. We share this property with some stray cats, a couple of deer friends, and pesky racoons. As we are about 40 yds off the road, there is private parking with motion detecting nightlights and a sidewalk leading to the entrance. The room has a small refrigerator, micro-wave oven, student desk and old, wooden office chair. Two folding chairs and a table are provided for sitting on the balcony. There is a twin bed and a scissor futon couch that makes into a full-sized bed. Towels, soap, shampoo and bedding for the couch-bed are provded. Private parking is 20 ft. from the entrance with motion detecting nightlights for your safety. Guest will have access to the studio and our yard, which borders on a dedicated wetlands. There are no trails. We are providing a clean, quiet and private space for guest to enjoy their time here in Arcata and Humboldt County. We are availabe for directions and recommendations, otherwise, we ask that our privacy be respected. Our neighborhood is quiet and rural, surrounded by trees. We have deer that roam our yard, sometimes on a daily basis. There is a good coffee/ sandwhich shop about 50yds from the house - they do not give "to go" cups, so we provide them. There is a small shopping center 1 mile towards Arcata that has a friendly neighborhood market, laundromat, hardware store and restaurant. This is a bike friendly area, with wide bike lanes. We are 2.5 miles from Humboldt State University - a 5 minute drive or a 10 minute bike ride. We are 3 miles southeast of Arcata and 4 miles northeast of Eureka. We are 1 mile from the nearest public transit. It is at Sunny Brae shopping center. This is the southernmost point for the Mad River transit and connects in Arcata to Redwood Transit that connects Fortuna, Eureka and Trinidad.
  • Very convenient and we'll priced, great to sleep in for the night

  • Jerry’s place is a small space that gives a lot. Everything was clean and well kept. Thanks for the great spot to rest. Happy to stay again.

  • Jerry was very helpful in accommodating us last minute and providing us with amazing information about the area. My husband and I rushed to see the beach sunset in Trinidad Beach State Park after Jerry’s recommendation. IT WAS AMAZING! Jerry was also there t welcome us upon arrival and give us a tour of the place. We felt comfortable staying in the location.

During travel I look for character and authenticity, and I hope to offer these to you during your stay while you visit our beaches, redwoods or Humboldt State University. Private studio has a separate entry next to our 1904 farmhouse-- vintage queen bed, WIFI, private bathroom, kitchenette with coffee maker, toaster oven, and microwave. I provide organic/local breakfast foods, including hard-boiled eggs from our flock, bread, yogurt, and fruit. Please, non-smokers only and no pets.
We have some games and books in the studio. You are welcome to use our porch swing.
We are a quiet, rural neighborhood with cows in our pasture and chickens in our yard, but we are very close to miles of beaches, hiking trails through the redwoods, Humboldt State University, and Arcata's Saturday Farmer's Markets,
  • The cute cottage was an amazing location as well as wonderful hosts. They treated us with their farm fresh eggs from their chickens and with delicious, local bread. We were so sad to leave. We hope to visit again very soon! Thank you for the amazing experience.

  • Cynthia's place was great for a weekend trip on the north coast! It's super close to national and state redwood parks, so lots of great hiking. It's also in an ideal location to visit cute little coastal towns. Also, the bread and yogurt and other breakfast foods Cynthia provided were so good!! I almost wept over the yogurt and honey and toast we had, who would have thought a simple breakfast could be so delicious? And it's so quiet at night, we slept so well. Perfect place to stay.

  • Cynthia is lovely, the room is private, comfy, well stocked with organic, local good. Just a great place to stay. P.S. there are sweet cows to wake to

  • Cynthia and Patric were very kind and thoughtful hosts. They provided me with local information and recommendation so that I was able to manage my time there effectively. Following their suggestion, I had a great time visiting both Redwood National Park and Trinidad Beach area. They were also most gracious to offer me organic free-range eggs as part of my breakfast along with organic yogurt, granolas, banana and other fruits. Such a delicious breakfast gave me great energy so that I was able to walk 5 plus miles during each day of visiting to those places mentioned above. The entire studio was super clean, spacious, efficient, and very comfortable. It was a delightful experience staying at their place. Thanks.

Cat's Meow Studio B is like a rustic, cabin near the woods. It's located behind Studio A/garage building and is a private stay with a bathroom, a combo living room/bedroom, and a full kitchen. It is a perfect overnight stay for visiting the Redwoods, or for an extended stay when you need more time to be here on the North Coast.
Cat's Meow Studio B is perfect for one or two people. It has a futon/couch which makes in to a full-size/queen bed. It is a little stark and is a decorating work in progress. The bathroom has no sink, but the kitchen sink is only a few steps away. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, 4 burner gas stove, micro-wave, coffee pot and a small table which will double as the desk. There is a dedicated WiFi router and laundry is available for extended stays. Parking is about 20ft. away and there are motion lights on the garage.
Cat's Meow Studio B is located east of Arcata. The western portion of our property is a dedicated wetlands with a creek that defines the western property line. We are minutes from Arcata, but it feels like a cabin in the woods because we have several Redwoods on the property as well as other trees and hedgings. Because of the way the buildings on the property sit, it feels a lot more rural than it is - definitely not a suburb.
  • Everything was great and very comfortable. The kitchen had all we needed and the apartment was clean.

  • I had a fantastic stay at the Cat's Meow. Jerry was super responsive and a great host. Highly recommend this spot for a nice, affordable, whole-house stay on the North Coast.

  • Always love staying at Jerry's place. Always everything I need for my business trips. I love the location. I will be back soon.

  • We stayed at Jerry’s Place while in the middle of a three month long road trip. We had been camping for about a week beforehand. The place could use a deep clean, but overall its a great value for anyone traveling on a budget. It had all the essentials we needed for a place to rest and recalibrate for a night. There’s no TV, but the WiFi works very well and we were able to watch Netflix on our laptop. While the sofa bed wasn’t quite long enough for my boyfriend (granted he’s 6’3”) it was very comfortable, so don’t let that deter you. We had been sick of fast food/eating out from our travels, so we actually made use of the kitchen. It has more than enough supplies to whip up a simple meal. Overall, Jerry’s Place was a positive experience and we would stay again. Thank you!

    Bridget2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quite place, comfortable, perfect for the couple or single person. Meets my criteria, of hot shower, comfy bed , peaceful atmosphere!

Come take a load off in new this cozy spot nestled in lower Arcata. This whimsical room has an elegant and pleasant feel with that element of magic.... It has a very comfortable and spacious queen bed beneath “lightning bug” inspired remote controlled lighting, giving you that feeling that you are beneath the stars without all the dirt.
The house is at your disposal. The room is exclusively yours for the time you have booked it. The kitchen is fully operational and there are all the cooking essentials. Kitchen layout is in the room for viewing upon arrival. The living room is spacious and inviting. Just 20 miles to the North is the beautiful coastal town of Trinidad, home to some of the most Pristine beaches in the state. Just 15 miles north of that are some of the nicest forested trails you will ever get the chance to hike and gorgeous Fern Canyon. If you head south about 25 miles you can explore the Redwoods National and State Parks
  • A good stay for a good price! Joe and his roommates were around the house while I was there and they were friendly.

    Hannah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Joe's was good, we started with a few days and ended up staying for almost a week. Very convenient location. We had the entire house for ourselves most of the time. The bathroom and kitchen were a little dirty. Good place for the price. Nice backyard.

  • The check-in way super easy. We absolutely loved our stay at Joe’s. It was comfortable and the lighting in the room was neat. Coffee was made for us each morning which was a great extra touch. There’s a market and coffee shop just a short walk away. This is a super great price for what Joe has to offer! Thank you so much, we will be back again!

The Huckleberry Hideaway is a private, cozy & warm one-bedroom upstairs apartment nestled in the redwood forest. Tucked behind the beautiful Arcata Community Forest, our Hideaway is less than a 10-minute drive from historic Arcata city center, Humboldt State University, the Mad River, rugged beaches and miles of forest trails. Enjoy the warm morning sun rising over Mad River valley from a private deck with complementary coffee and tea. We diligently clean to protect your health and safety.
[In light of what’s happening around the world, we have instituted additional cleaning practices to protect our guests (and our family).] Recently updated, the Huckleberry Hideaway is cozy, comfortable & functional. This is a beautiful property in a safe & quiet neighborhood. A wide set of wooden stairs leads up to the private balcony and apartment. A comfortable standard queen bed is in the bedroom and a twin sized fold out bed/ottoman is available for sleeping in the main living space. Free WiFi & Netflix on the TV. Includes a new gas stove with oven, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hot water kettle. Plus cookware, dish ware and basic utensils. We provide tea, coffee and creamer. This is an active three generation property. Oma (grandma) lives below the apartment with her two well-behaved dachshunds. You might also catch a glimpse of one of our black kitties or our spunky toddler. COMMUNICATION We prefer to communicate through the AirBnb app. I highly recommended that you download the app onto your mobil device and set notifications to ON. Expect a message the day of your arrival with important check-in information. If you're unable to use the app, let us know in advance and we can send you the instructions earlier. Thank You!
This is a very quiet neighborhood tucked away on a ridge line between Arcata and the Mad River. We have a lot of fun around the holidays being next to a Christmas Tree farm!
  • Nice apartement in the second floor in between a beautiful forest - we liked the place a lot. Janna was quick in responding & she respected the social distance in the corona-time consequently, which we appreciated. Thank you a lot!

    Claudia2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Janna’s place if you are in the area. The space was larger than we expected and super cozy. The directions were perfect. We got in fairly late and had no trouble getting situated. I only wish I was in the area more often. 10/10 would stay there again.

    James2020-03-17T00:00:00Z

Comfortable, private space with separate entrance and yard. Fully furnished with queen bed, sofa bed, dining area, full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry. A short drive to downtown Arcata, HSU, Eureka, redwoods, and beaches. Enjoy the best of both worlds - a quiet, safe, country setting with a neighborhood coffeehouse and still be only minutes from the heart of town. Perfect for solo travelers, couples, friends, and families. People from all backgrounds are welcome. Well behaved pets considered!
We warmly invite you to this private spot for exploring the North Coast. With a full kitchen, bathroom, and washer and dryer, you will find this space accommodating and inviting. A secluded yard including a porch with outdoor dining set is perfect for a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. The kitchen is fully appointed for simple snacks or full meals, including full-size refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, cookware, dishware, and baby/child dishes. The bedroom features a new queen bed as of December 2017 with a full closet with hangers and a dresser. The couch has a pull-out queen bed with additional memory foam mattress topper, which we are told is not the most comfortable for sensitive sleepers and may be best for kids. Plenty of windows let in the natural light and blinds can keep it dark for sleeping in. The TV has a Roku player that you can use to stream from your own Netflix or Hulu account and is not hooked up to an antenna or cable. A designated parking space gives you easy access to your home away from home. We live in the main house next-door with our two kids (ages 9 and 13) and two dogs. While we aim to be unobtrusive, you may hear the typical noises of a bustling family or two cheery golden retrievers on the other side of the fence at times. Since we know how it can be difficult to travel with pets, we are open to considering yours as well, so long as they are well-behaved, potty trained, and clean. The house is located up on a hill in Bayside, a charming neighborhood just outside the heart of Arcata. An amazing coffee house is just around the corner, or find a range of restaurant options in Arcata or Eureka. A bike path takes you two miles into Arcata. The nearest grocery store is a mile away and two natural foods stores are a mile further in downtown Arcata. During Spring, Summer and Fall, check out the local farmers markets, the most robust being Saturday mornings on the Arcata Plaza where you can pick up organic produce, honey, or watch children climb trees and adults hula hoop. Two miles from the Arcata Plaza and Humboldt State University, seven miles from Old Town Eureka, 17 miles to the delightful beach town of Trinidad, and 26 miles to the Victorian village of Ferndale.
Tucked away up on a hill, we are a short walk to a cafe, bike path or road to downtown Arcata, and close to Highway 101 for anywhere else you’d like to go. It’s a quiet family-friendly neighborhood.
  • This place was PERFECT in every way. Super welcoming, clean, and convenient to all the things we wanted to do while we were in Humboldt. I will definitely be staying here again! Thank you so much for the very warm welcome, Sara.

    Bekah2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for me and my 6 year old granddaughter to stay in while visiting my other daughter who lives 1-1/2 mile away. We stayed two nights. The cottage is separate form the main house in a quiet neighborhood and we felt very safe. Lots of windows with blinds to let in the natural light and watch the birds and kids in the yard. Met the host/owner as we pulled in the driveway about 7:00pm and met the husband the next morning as we were leaving for the day. The walk to the Beachcomber cafe for breakfast was quick and pleasant (note: it is closed Sundays). The cottage had all the basic dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and some bakeware (incl. muffin pan) for cooking. I really liked the color of the plates, bowls and mugs. There was also some snacks, coffee, and tea in cabinets. The young one enjoyed playing with the wood toy train and other toys in the cottage. She also liked the kid-friendly plastic bowls, plates, and cups. I was comfortable letting her play in the yard by herself and scooter in the driveway. It is dog friendly with a fenced yard. From the driveway you can see the bay and surrounding hills. Will stay here again when visiting my daughter.

    Michelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sara’s place was very quite and clean. It was a gorgeous location in a cute neighborhood. Our dog loved the backyard and we felt like it was very secure. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and hope to return in the future.

The "Blue Room" is your quiet, cozy country getaway just 2 miles from town, across the street from the Mad River and 5 miles from the beach. Cruising up the long drive-way, you'll be welcomed by our mustang, donkeys & goat. We welcome guests of all backgrounds and love making new friends. Having lived on the North Coast for nearly 40 years we're a great resource to make your stay memorable.
Guests love the "just right" comfortable full sized futon with Tempurpedic topper and large, luxurious bathroom with soaking tub large enough for two and separate shower. You can unwind as you soak with Epsom salts by candlelight and even diffuse essential oils for a spa-like experience (included). Mini-fridge, microwave, air popcorn popper, coffee, tea and treats are also included. If you happen to be traveling with horses, ask us about short-term boarding. We're also open to hosting well-mannered dogs (please let us know in advance if you are bringing dogs with you).
Our property is 6.3 acres in a park-like setting. We have gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. We tend to get sun on our property when other areas in town are fogged in. In the summer we can walk you down to our little sandy beach and swimming hole on the Mad River. It's just 2 min. to the town of McKinleyville with groceries, gas, restaurants and The Mill Creek Cinema in case you care to take in a movie. The college town of Arcata is just 5 miles with some great dining, live music and quaint town plaza shopping. There is a delightful Farmer's Market there on Saturdays. The town of Blue Lake is also within 5 miles with bowling, a casino and a tap room a hatchery and river access.
  • We only stayed one night, but the place was lovely and secluded, with some excellent animal friends. And the bathtub really is amazing!

  • Tracy was a great host, and very kind. I stayed there with my two year old, and he loved the farm animals. Tracy gave us carrots every day to feed to the donkeys.

  • Such a beautiful property and room! The bath alone was worth the stay but the peaceful location and thoughtful touches made it truly magical ❤️

    Miranda2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely spot to stay! Out of the way and quiet, a perfect place for a weekend retreat. The animals were lovely and fun to meet, and the soaking tub was absolutely glorious! Very close to Arcata and Eureka, as well as both entrances to the Redwood forests for hiking and beaches.

    Myranda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a spectacular getaway- the special touches Tracy leaves in the room make you feel oh so special. My boyfriend and I spent our Valentine’s Day weekend here to celebrate the holiday and our 2 year anniversary. We brought our two dogs and it was still enough space for the four of us to be comfortable. We will definitely be making a trip back this summer!

Our restored, historic cottage is at the center of our vibrant community. Just two blocks from the Plaza and in close walking distance (5 minutes or less) to the best farmers' market, two natural grocery stores, several cafes, restaurants, a creperie, an excellent independent movie theater, an art store, record and book stores, and within a 10-15 minute walk to Redwood Park and the Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary. This bright, cozy cottage is truly in the heart of downtown Arcata. Come stay!
This one-bedroom cottage has a full, well-equipped kitchen with a Tassimo coffee machine, as well as a French press, and a drip coffee option. We have a sofa bed that folds out and sleeps one adult, or two small children. Please note that this is a sofa bed, which typically are not as comfortable as a regular bed, unfortunately (this is our second sofa bed in a year, on a search to find a more comfortable one!), and due to the size of our cottage, the only sofa bed that fits is a small one, which is smaller than a full size bed. (If you have two small children, please just list them as the third adult, and we won't charge you - we've been there!) Please note, there is no TV. Thank you so much for your interest in our space!
Our cottage is situated off the alley behind our house. It is separated from our property by a gate, and it has its own parking spot. We love our alley neighbors! It is a pretty quiet spot, aside from the occasional group chatting as they stroll home from the bar sometimes on weekends, and the garbage truck once a week in the early mornings.
  • This place is sparkling clean, stylish, convenient for Humboldt towns and the national/state parks. The bed was the coziest bed I've ever slept in. Maria was super quick to respond to questions, there is free wifi, and toiletries were provided. I would definitely stay again.

  • Beautiful cottage in the city of Arcata. I stayed overnight for an out of town work trip and found this to be exactly what I needed. The cottage is located close to several different restaurants and quiet at night allowing for a peaceful sleep before an early morning. It was fresh, clean, and stocked with things I needed for my stay. There were clean towels, dishes, and pots and pans for my use if needed. Fast WiFi made my stay convenient. And check in was straightforward and simple. I highly recommend Maria’s place.

This private garden hideaway is a great home base for your Northcoast adventures. Unwind in the soaking tub, dine in at home, barbeque on the patio, or explore downtown Arcata, just two miles away. Forest and ocean adventures all close at hand. Nightly price includes 12% bed tax.
This is a pretty and private garden hideaway which comfortably accommodates one or two people. The space has a lovely tile bathroom, with a soaking tub and a double shower built for sharing. Inside you have a well equipped kitchenette, which tidies away behind closed doors, or you can barbeque outside in the garden patio area. This studio comprises part of a larger high end residence, but is fully self contained with it's own private entrance and a designated parking space. The house is located in a quiet semi-rural neighborhood overlooking Humboldt Bay, two miles from the Arcata plaza and Humboldt State University, and seven miles from downtown Eureka. Wireless internet. Well equipped kitchenette - fridge/freezer, microwave, hot plate, toaster, toaster oven, electric kettle, cookware/dishware. Gas barbeque with side burner. Linens, bedding, bathrobes. Organic coffee/tea and breakfast items provided. The apartment is near the front of the property for easy coming and going, but come around back for terrific sunsets, chicken visiting, or to sit around a warming fire in the fire pit. Bella is readily available to orient guests to the local area. As long term Humboldt County residents that enjoy a good adventure, we're delighted to share local tips about places to hike, bike, surf and explore. That said, we like to let guests lead the way as to whether they prefer more or less contact, so if you're here for a little solitude or a romantic getaway, the studio is well situated for that and we're happy to give you all the space you need. Bayside is a sweet neighborhood with a semi-rural feel, just two miles from downtown Arcata and Humboldt State University. The property has panoramic views over Humboldt Bay and marsh areas that are part of the Pacific flyway for many kinds of migratory birds. Depending on the season, the sound of cows in the fields is complemented by the sounds of thousands of wild geese coming and going; frogs chorusing; coyotes yipping. There is a delightful coffee house at the corner, or head into Arcata or Eureka to find a nice range of local restaurants. The closest supermarket is a mile away, but venture a mile further to find two remarkably well stocked natural foods supermarkets in downtown Arcata. Alternatively, stock up at one of the many local farmers markets - especially Saturdays on the Arcata Plaza - which offer great local produce and fun people watching. We also have an organic community farm with farm stand about a 1/4 mile down the road. If you're up for an adventure, you can hike and mountain bike (even horse ride) to your heart's content along miles of trails in the the Arcata community forest (2350 acres) or stay on flatter ground in the Arcata Bottoms and along the Hammond Trail. A little further afield, explore majestic old growth redwood forests and beautiful seascapes among the many stunning National and State Parks that Humboldt and Del Norte counties have on offer. Enjoy the temperate coastal weather or head a little inland for some serious sun and great river swimming. In fact, there are a terrific range of scenic rivers to be found in all directions, offering swimming, rafting and paddling opportunities for all skill levels. Twenty minutes north is the picturesque fishing village of Trinidad with beautiful rocky coves and beaches to explore plus regular sightings of seals, sea lions and whales (in season). Kayak the myriad lagoons and sloughs in the area to get up close and personal with birds, otters and elk. For a more cosmopolitan adventure, Eureka and Ferndale are brimming with gorgeous Victorian architecture; enjoy the evening Art walks held monthly in a range of local towns; or check out the local theatre, music and other performing arts offerings. The studio has a designated parking space for a one vehicle. We are a short pedal off Highway 101 if you're arriving by bike. If you are vehicle free, we are approx. 35 min walk to the heart of Arcata and local Transit Center (one mile to the closest local bus stop). For those arriving by plane, you can arrange ahead of time for the local shuttle to pick you up (about $22 plus $5 for extra person). You can also call a taxi (about $30) but they don't take advance bookings so the wait can be long at times.

  • Great stay in a great location!

  • This studio near Arcata was super sweet, very tasteful and comfortable. It's quiet and cozy, with some lovely elements: super comfy bed, nice deep bathtub, adorable window seat, hidden closet kitchen quite complete. It was a tad cold in the room, but with some room heaters going, it was much better. There are ants, so be prepared for that. They didn't get into our food. And there was plenty of room in the mini-fridge to store stuff. We'd stay there again. It was an easy 5 minute drive into Arcata.

  • This was our fourth time staying at Bella’s. It’s our favorite AirBnB. It’s very stylish and comfortable. She was out of the country, but she enlisted a neighbor to help host us and we appreciate all the toys for our kids and thoughtful touches. It was quite enchanting for our 3 year old to find a group of toy animals about the garden and she shared the blocks with our 1 year old. Although it is a studio, Bella made an exception that our family of 4 could stay. We really appreciate her and our hostess next door going out of their way over the thanksgiving holiday week to ensure we had a comfortable and wonderful trip back up in Humboldt. The bath tub and shower are our favorite. The kitchenette is well stocked with cookware. The covered outdoor patio was perfect while the toddler napped; we could sit outside even in the rain to play and relax. We have already booked and are looking forward to our fifth stay soon.

  • This beautifully appointed studio is warm and cozy. There was everything you would want— fully appointed kitchen, extra pillows, fluffy towels, delicious organic apples and fresh coffee. Also lots of local tips! It was like staying with your family— if your family liked you and had excellent taste

  • Bella was very responsive and helpful! We stayed during a power outage and she supplied us with LED lights and even accommodated us for an extra night. The place was super cute and sparkling clean! Private entrance and garden is really nice. The tub and shower are also great

    Alex2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous and luxurious private space with all the amenities needed for a long stay. Bathroom was stocked with environmentally friendly products & fresh fluffy towels. We didn’t use the kitchenette but were surprised at how thoughtful the host had been with providing all one would need for an extended stay. Outdoor private patio & BBQ was a treat! Close to the Arcata Square with ample parking.

    Laurie2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bella's place was ideal for us to visit Redwood National park and places all around. It was quite at night so we can fully recharged ourselves after dayslong hiking. Lovely place and good value.

Nestled in a redwood canyon steps from the Arcata Community forest, this is a cosy one bedroom with a full kitchen and bathroom, an outdoor seating and dining area, and parking on the street. Centrally located to Humboldt State University, St. Joseph's Hospital and Mad River Hospital, this is an ideal spot for temporary, month to month rental. Thank you for considering our hospitality!
Well lit with great natural light and a very comfortable queen size bed. Airy and deceptively spacious with East and South-facing windows. Welcoming and enticing interior decor, with good insulation make this a cozy and pleasant living space.
Our suite is in a redwood canyon that ends at a creek at the foot of the Arcata Community Forest. It is a quiet street, home to families, retirees and Humboldt State University students, as well as a range of wildlife - deer, raccoons and the occasional bear going through the garbage! We all cohabit peacefully. It is a magical, beautiful place that appears removed from the bustle of downtown Arcata, yet only a few miles from town.
  • A little nook of refined tranquility hidden in a gorgeous redwood canyon. Quiet, pristine, and beautiful. Recommended for anyone who needs a little peace in such a busy world.

  • Great location! Perfect for traveling professionals. Kitchenette is perfect with everything you need to prepare a meal. Kirsten is knowledge about sites to visit and hot tubs to relax in this area. Very close to Pacific Ocean, and hiking up to the big trees. Beautiful flowers and family environment. I would stay here in the future.

Come enjoy a farm-feeling home base in gorgeous Arcata. The studio has a private entrance and is a quiet place to relax after visiting your student at HSU, hiking the redwoods, enjoying the beach or just exploring Humboldt County! ***I will waive my cleaning fee for any parent visiting their HSU enrolled student or touring the campus with their potential student***
The studio is above our garage making it very quiet and private. You will enjoy morning greetings from the sun rising over the redwoods and unobstructed, breathtaking views as the sun sets west towards the ocean. The entry is completely separate from the main house, where we live and from where Lu works. I have tried to think of all you would need for either a short or lengthy stay. The kitchen has a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom has a pocket door that slides shut for privacy and is separate from sleeping area. The futon does fold down flat for an additional sleeper but I’d recommend this for someone no taller than 6 feet.
The house backs up to a community supported farm. The views from your staircase are unobstructed and beautiful! Our street is quiet and safe with a market just up the street that also has a lovely coffee shop.
  • Off the beaten path but close to main roads, it was a charming and comfy place to stay.

  • We ABSOLUTELY loved our stay, room, bed and pillows. We will definitely stay again, we parked on the day we arrived and walked everywhere we needed/wanted to. The room was cozy and thoughtfully set up, the sauna was amazing, and soaking in the outside tub when its sprinkling; can't think of anything better.

    Priscilla2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! I loved the room and the courtyard. Great space for me and my dogs for the night. Across the street is a nice marshy park/trail to walk the dogs at. Plus convenient parking in a small gated lot! The bed and sheets were amazing. I ended up in Arcata for the night but if I’m ever back I’ll stay here for sure. Thanks for creating such a peaceful spot.

  • Our stay at the Front Porch Inn was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable. The garden area was beautifully designed, with living plant-covered walls that created a sense of privacy and tranquility. Relaxing in the hot tubs and sauna made our visit feel like a long luxurious vacation.

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a hidden gem! I loved the experience here. The garden area is so beautiful and peaceful to just sit and be present. Loved all the room names and the little unique touches. We were sad we didn’t have time to use the outdoor tub, we had too many activities planned, but maybe next time! The area is nice, especially if you have a dog with you, as there’s lots of trails close by. All the people staying here are super nice as well! The room was super quiet, and we had a good nights sleep. We had a lovely experience and hope to be back again someday!

    Kezia2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This space was so serene and restoring that I booked a second stay and extended my visit. Both suites I stayed in were clean, well-appointed, and the beds were comfortable. The sauna and tubs were heaven!

My place is close to the city center, parks, art and culture, and public transport. It is a cozy little gem snuggled into the edge of the Redwoods of the Arcata Community Forest, walking distance to town. The extensive and wonderful trails of the Community Forest are directly accessible, the center of town is a 15-20 min walk and the ocean and Eureka are both 10min away by car. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).
The house was built by my son's Dad and myself in 2015. It is a very loving, cozy space with radiant floor heating as well as a wood stove upstairs.
This is a quiet cul-de-sac close to town with many families living on the street. Although it's close to town, sometimes a deer or one of my neighbor's ducks wanders onto the road. It is usually very quiet at night with next to no traffic. Sometimes, dogs or kids are present.
  • Therése really made me and my mom feel at home! It was clean and the aesthetic of the place was lovely. But most of all, she got along with my mom SO WELL. It could not have been a better fit. She is really down to earth and she even went to my music performance at the end of the week! Therése made this trip an unforgettable experience for us.

    Rachel2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy place toward the end of a street nestled among redwood forest. An authentic Arcata experience to be had here. Claw foot tub downstairs nearby the room and shower is upstairs along with kitchen to make coffee, etc. If you stay here, take the time to go up the stairs behind the house to the little trail amongst the redwood trees. It was the highlight of our stay.

    Eric2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I loved Therése's home! When I arrived I was actually blown away, I feel like the pictures don't do this forest oasis justice. I immediately dropped my bags off in my room and went into the back yard and spent some time with the Redwoods. The room was cozy, I spent much of time my snuggled up in bed with some tea and caught up on work on my laptop. Therése was very sweet and thoughtful and even made a smoothie for me the morning I left!

Set behind the iconic dragon-shaped hedges sits this historic gem of a house. Private setting in the heart of downtown Arcata, walking distance from grocery stores, bars and restaurants, as well as the university. Major redwood parks are 45 minutes either North or South of us, the most beautiful beaches only 15 minutes away. The room is private, impeccably decorated, and extremely comfortable with detailed touches only a seasoned superhost like myself would know to include.
This is one of two bedrooms set on the first story of our house. Guests can enter via the back gate, and let themselves in via the lockbox off of the back entrance. The bathroom is directly off of the room as well as the laundry, kitchen, and backyard access. Both rooms are on opposite sides of the 2,400 sq. ft house, allowing for optimal privacy, as well plenty of space to move around. The use of the kitchen is included in your stay, as well as one load of laundry (additional loads will cost $5 per load). The bathroom is shared between the downstairs guests, with our private bathroom upstairs being accessible assuming the downstairs bathroom is in use. There is a communal living room/seating area in the middle of the house for unwinding after a long day of adventuring, as well as a "spill over room" that functions as a second living room by day (including books and instruments for guest use) and can be made up as a second bedroom for additional guests at extra cost if you so choose (by night). Backyard access is allowed, with a sweet deck and patio furniture included so you can have space to relax outdoors. On-street parking only. Upon booking, you will receive a code for the lockbox to access your house and room key.
We are situated about 100 feet behind the local co-op for all of your grocery shopping needs. Nearly every restaurant in town is located within a few blocks walking distance from our house , including: a dog-friednly bar next door, a burger joint two building down, high-end restaurants such as the famous Campground, and local favorites such as the Local Cider bar (best empanadas, pies and ciders!), Renata's Creperie, as well as a host of other wonderful cafes and bars. The Plaza, which hosts a variety of events, from Saturday Farmer's markets, to renowned events such as the annual Oyster fest, is only two blocks away. Everything you might need after a long day on the road, and you can't beat the fact that you can walk to ALL of it within 1-5 blocks from our house.
  • Beautiful place, close to everything in town. Very clean and confortable.

  • It was a short but comfortable stay. We enjoyed it.

  • Amy’s place was extremely clean and the room was cozy. Full of warm bedding and fluffy pillows. I was so comfortable that I almost did not go out for a beer to the bar right across the street. I would recommend this place to anyone stopping by.

    Gerson2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place is cozy and charming and exactly as described in the posting. Walking distance to everything in town. The recommendations on what to do around town and hikes in the area were great. The bunnies in the backyard add a little something special, too. I would definitely stay here again.

    Sofia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place was fantastic. It is so close to so many amazing places to eat, shop, and see. The house was extremely clean, and well equipped with amenities. We walked into a room with a binder full of recommendations, and we were never disappointed. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place at an even greater value.

    Kara2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved every minute of staying at Amy's place! It was so cute and perfect! This is one of those Airbnb's that should be featured in the magazine! Definitely worth the price and the bed was SO COMFY! Ryan

  • Great place, exactly as advertised. Near everything in downtown Arcata, the Plaza, restaurants, the Co-op, stores. If you are an early bird, like me, you can pop over to the Co-op at 6:15 every morning for coffee and a pastry. Amy gave great tips about places to visit in the area. I would stay there again.

Our renovated, quaint, crisp studio cottage is a 10 minute walk to the Redwoods, 5 minutes to shops and a short drive to the Beach. Little Buttermilk is nestled in a private garden setting in the quiet neighborhood of Sunny Brae. We do have other properties so if our cottage is booked during your ideal stay please feel free to inquire!
We invite you to stay in our beautiful, recently remodeled rustic eco chic cottage in Sunny Brae, Arcata. The cottage is bright and cheery with bamboo floors, ceramic countertops and locally made organic cotton/hemp curtains on all windows. Repurposed furniture is all handmade in the cottage! The space is set up like a studio, basically one small room that shares the kitchen, dining space, and a very comfortable and new sleeper sofa. Little Buttermilk is ideal for two people but does sleep four. The Queen bed is a private bedroom nook, fits a tall and raised queen size bed with storage cabinets above and below. Please note there is a stool under the bed, but would be challenging to access for anyone who may have trouble getting in and out. There is a full bathroom with beautifully tiled shower, a closet for hanging your clothes as well as a separate dressing room. The Cottage hosts a wee but plentiful kitchen, perfect for preparing a simple but luxurious meal to enjoy on the private garden patio. Little Buttermilk Cottage offers a relaxing environment for a small family vacation, a romantic getaway or time away exploring the beauty of the Humboldt Coast!
Sunny Brae, our neighborhood in Arcata, is a fantastic place. We are a five-minute walk to two delicious restaurants, a coffee shop, a grocery store with organic products, a hardware store, dry cleaners and laundry mat, hair salon and florist. We are a 20-minute walk to downtown Arcata and to Redwood Park. Of course, biking or driving to these places only takes a few minutes! Humboldt State University is just up the hill from here as well - only a few minutes away. The trailhead to the hiking and biking trails of the Sunny Brae Redwood Forest is a 5-minute walk from our front gate. Into bird-watching? The Arcata Marsh bird-watching area is a 5-minute drive from the house. The Pacific Ocean is less than a 10-minute drive from the house and there are literally dozens of public access points from which to enjoy the beach. Little Buttermilk Cottage is tucked away from the street in the back corner of our 1/2 acre yard. Its neighbor is the Sunny Brae Middle School, so it's very quiet at night and on weekends, but you may hear some children over the privacy fence during the day :).
  • Excellent stay and it was close to my son's home -we loved it!

    Meg2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super convenient location, clean and easy check in and check out.

    Lauren2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a cozy and sweet little spot (I would imagine anyone would love to live there full-time!). Enjoyed the decor and all the artistic touches throughout. The beds and seating were warm and very comfortable. Handy to have closet space, hair dryer(s) and an iron, along with cleaning supplies if needed. We did not cook during our stay, as we were out and about at mealtimes, but the kitchen is well-outfitted for anyone wanting to prepare food. We used to live in the neighborhood and it was wonderful to walk to all the old haunts. Street parking was plentiful. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to enjoy a quiet, private spot in beautiful Arcata!

    Dinah2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. Very private, very clean, very well designed and decorated studio. 1/4 mile walk to a good grocery store and gem of an Italian restaurant. Friendly, giant cats greet you outside. Will definitely stay here again.

  • This is a very cute place with feel of privacy.

    Roy2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Literally the cutest place my boyfriend and I have ever stay at! By far the little get away anyone would look for in an Airbnb! It was clean, smelled good, warm and a lot of little personal touches we adorned! Would stay there again in a heart beat!

    Karissa2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Buttermilk Cottage is truly a home away from home. Clean, peaceful, and homey with well-appointed details, it had everything we needed for our weekend in Arcata and truly felt like a getaway. We will definitely be back next time we are in Humboldt!

  • The Buttermilk Cottage is sooo sweet. The decor is stylish and cozy. : ) I loved the location too. Very easy to get to Eureka and downtown Arcata. Also, Poncho the cat likes to visit on the patio and it’s the sweetest thing ever.

  • Such a cute little spot. It was definitely memorable!

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very neat place to stay! The baths are gorgeous and private, separated by living walls and lit up with string lights at night. Though the ten rooms were full when we stayed, we had no trouble accessing the tubs. The room was sweet and cozy with lots of little comforting touches. Super clean. There was a dog staying in the room next to us that barked anytime someone walked by but it was otherwise very peaceful. Would definitely visit again!

The Guesthouse is situated at the back of our property. The neighborhood is small and quiet. It is accessed through a beautiful covered bridge which crosses a year round creek. Depending on the time of year you can see the Salmon working their way upstream to spawn. You may spot a Great Blue Heron by the creek or Red Shouldered Hawk flying above. You can relax on the lovely front porch or gather around a cozy outdoor Fire pit. On clear nights stargazing can be really amazing. • Jamal's place is a nice quiet stop off the 101. It was really clean with plenty of room for two people. It was cold the night of our stay and the electric fireplace had trouble keeping up but overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

    Cailee2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The best air bnb I have ever stayed in! The space is very private, it shares property with the main house but you have your own entry way and guest house. There is a sweet little flock of chickens and ducks that roam around the yard, the hosts left 4 eggs for us in the guest house. Communication was clear and prompt, space is sparkling clean and conveniently located. Nothing but praise for this one!

  • If I could have built and designed my ideal getaway cottage this would have been it. Bright and sunny, with all the items in the kitchen you need to cook for yourself. The design is so modern and the location outstanding with lots of privacy. I can see why it’s booked up often!

  • Lovely spaces . I had to make some very last minute plans about staying in town and owners were so gracious and accommodating last minute requests .

  • Angie and Dane had great communication and responded to me quickly when due to weather concerns we had to leave a few days early. They were very understanding and accommodating. We loved the house and the location which is right by beautiful walking trails. We loved our stay in Arcata and highly recommend the place!

  • My go to place to stay anytime I travel through Humboldt County. It’s modern, clean, convenient, and super comfortable. Thank you again Angie and Dane!

  • Super clean, comfy, had Netflix provided and they had a great coffee machine. Fickle Hill is a beautiful location to stay in Arcata too. Right next to the Redwoods- incredible. Highly recommend!

    Megan2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right next to the beautiful Redwood forest. I recommend this to anyone staying in Arcata. It was like being in a home away from home, and couldn’t have enjoyed this experience more !

    Ash2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing place in a beautiful surroundings even had some deer's come up to the house to eat some grass it was all in all an amazing trip!

    Brandyn2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice little hideout on a forested hill above (but not far from) town. It is one of several little cabins nearby, but still felt separate and private. Very comfortable and sparkling clean. Super easy check in/check out. Plenty of coffee available and a few basic ingredients in the fridge/cabinets. Fully functional/equipped kitchen. Nice windows looking out into the woods. Four minute drive to downtown. We commuted to the redwood parks each day which are farther away but the drive's a breeze given the nice scenery along the way. Highly recommended.

Our clean cozy studio apartment is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quite neighborhood in McKinleyville, just a few minutes drive from the Arcata Plaza/ HSU/ Beaches/ Redwood forest/ ACV airport/ Old Town Eureka. Walking distance to Six Rivers Brewery. It is also about a 45 minute drive from the Redwood National and State parks. Our apartment has got a fully equipped kitchen with updated appliances and all the necessary essentials.
The private apartment can be light, bright and airy or dark, warm and relaxing. You can set the tone you want with a flick of a curtain or the dimming of a light or two. Set the mood with the electric fireplace and bluetoothed sound bar.
The neighborhood is just a quick drive off of the main street of McKinleyville. While the location is near the main street, the neighborhood is secluded, safe and quite. Most of the neighbors live in their homes year round and are either retired or currently working professionals.
  • Absolutely loved staying here. I came up from LA to move my son out of HSU during the pandemic and this place was exactly what I was looking for. Immaculately clean, comfortable and quiet with an extremely easy check-in and check-out. The location is great and the space itself is lovely. Cannot recommend it enough.

  • I loved Donovan’s place! It was perfectly located close to Arcata and the redwoods (the most beautiful and humbling hike of my life at Prairie creek!) The apartment had everything I needed, well equipped kitchen and really comfy bed and linen. Would love to return here in the future.

    Claire2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very nice stay. Almost exactly as pictured. There is a fridge/freezer and hot plate available as well. Quality amenities, linens, etc.

    David Ryan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, comfortable and convenient! This was a perfect home base for a quick weekend trip. Donovan was easy to reach for local recommendations. Would definitely stay again!

    Kristina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I am a clean nut. There, said it out loud. Donovan’s space was spotless. My comfort went way beyond my expectation. Thank you for everything. All the extra touches let me know how much pride you take in making your guests happy. I look forward to returning. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

    Donna2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super grateful to Donovan for being such an amazing host. The place was lovely, super clean and offered all the amenities you could think of. I will definitely keep this place in mind next time I’m in the area!

    Leslie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Donavan's place was an amazing place to stay. We were only there for one night, but we had a great experience. The check-in process was easy with good instructions and directions to the location that included parking. The apartment was modern and neatly decorated with many amenities such as snacks, mini-frige, and I especially enjoyed the smart TV that had Netflix and Hulu. The bed was very comfortable and we had many warm blankets when it got cold at night as we stayed in early February. This place was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone!

    Carmen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Because of car issues we were unable to stay at Donovans place. I am sure that we will stay at his place sometime in the future.

  • We had another great stay with Cris. Great location, super clean, comfy bed and an amazing hot tub. Also love the furry friends and fresh eggs. If you’re a light sleeper I suggest maybe bringing earplugs. The guest in the room next to us was a loud snorer and the adjoining door was pretty thin.

The room is extremely private, impeccably decorated, extremely comfortable, with detailed touches only a seasoned superhost like myself would know to include.
This is one of two bedrooms set on the first story of our house. Both rooms are on opposite sides of the 2,400 sq. ft house, allowing for optimal privacy, as well plenty of space to move around. The use of the kitchen is included in your stay however, we prefer guests that aren't going to use the kitchen from breakfast/lunch/dinner as it creates so much foot traffic. The bathroom is shared between the downstairs guests, with our private bathroom upstairs being accesible assuming the downstairs bathroom is in use. There is a communal living room/seating area in the middle of the house for unwinding after a long day of adventuring, as well as a "spill over room" that functions as a second living room by day (including books and instruments for guest use) and can be made up as a second bedroom for additional guests at extra cost if you so choose.
  • Amazing scenery in this area. Centralized location for that town. It was close to everything we did which made this trip 10x easier! Super communicative ahead time so you don’t really have to worry much. Great stay!

    Isaiah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Within walking distance to so many fun stores, restaurants, breweries, and bars. Short drive to Eureka and Trinidad- cool places to explore. Less than 10 min drive to the community forest which is serene and breathtaking. The bed was one the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Perfect for solo traveler but equally great for couples as well. Better than the boutique hotel bed I had slept on a few days before! The place was clean. Amy left a water pitcher and cup at bedside which was very much appreciated. Quick to respond. Would absolutely stay

    Kara2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Although I didn’t meet Amy in person, she was very willing to help out with issues over text. The room was very clean and never got too cold. The bed was super comfy and stylish. With quick access to downtown, I recommend Amy’s place to anyone stopping by the area!

    Kyle2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I've had exchanges with many a great host on Airbnb but Amy is over-the-top. She's communicative, accommodating, detail-oriented, genuine and kind. We loved the proximity of the location to the Plaza as well and appreciated the thoughtful touches. We look forward to our next visit and will surely book a room at Amy's!

    Shana2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place was spotless and tastefully decorated. The bed was extra comfy and you really can’t beat the location. I walked everywhere! I didn’t get to spend much time with Amy and Jake but my last day she made me coffee and we had a great chat! She also filled me in on some local knowledge and places to go. They are two of the most lovely people you could meet. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them and will book again for my next trip to the coast!

    Kendall2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place was really nice and clean. She showed us around and let us use her washer and dryer. She also gave us local tips for cool beaches and beautiful hikes. We enjoyed staying at her home and would love to come back.

A cozy space with modern touches nestled in the lower part of Arcata, just a couple block walk to the neighborhood grocery store and Mosgos coffee shop. Just a mile from downtown Arcata, where fun awaits, day or night. If you need anything while staying here don’t hesitate to ask.
The house is spacious, well kept, clean, and fully furnished for your comfort. The back yard is beautiful and perfect for games, bbq, or a relaxing evening spent around the fire pit. If you would like access to the outdoor games or bbq while you stay, just let me know.
While you stay here you can expect to stay in a safe, quiet neighborhood with well developed trees, wide stress, and friendly neighbors. It’s only a couple minutes walk to the neighborhood grocery store or Mosgos coffee, which is always lively with college students and occasional evening entertainment.

Dear Friends, we are temporarily closed due to coronavirus. We plan to reopen July 1. OKstudio is a casual, safe, private studio with fenced yard and garden. It is the ground level of a three story victorian built in 1884. The studio apt is vintage decor with a modest kitchenette. There are beds for 1/2/3/4 and children and dogs are welcome. Your private entrance is in the back yard.
The studio is casual, comfortable and sanitized. I practice meticulous cleaning with hospital grade products. Okstudio is in a 3 story victorian occupied by the owner and upstairs tenants. It is in the historic Bayview East neighborhood and is walking distance to the downtown plaza and HSU campus. The studio has a queen TempurPedic bed and a single daybed. (You can arrange for an additional air mattress.) Bedding and linens are cotton. You have cable, radio and internet. (There are infrequent lapses in service due to our remote location.) The bathroom has a single shower and commode but no sink. In the kitchenette there is a fridge with freezer, utility sink, microwave, electric skillet, teapot, toaster and dishes for light cooking. Sandwiches and salads are common fare with some meals brought in from nearby shops and deli. If you travel with a dog, check in advance. You must not leave your dog alone but if you will keep the beds and fabric furniture covered, your dog is welcome. There are utility sheets in a tub for this purpose. Smoking is strictly in the back yard. We are cannabis friendly. Please communicate with Ursi to estimate your arrival time. Your door will be unlocked, door knob key on the table. It is self check in. Park near your entrance gate.
10th and C is mixed residential in the historic Bayview East neighborhood. There are students and permanent residents with friendly faces coming and going. We are 1 block (straight down 10th) from a dog run area.
  • Such a charming studio. Plenty big and so much character. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We look forward to booking again.

  • We could not have had a better stay while visiting Arcata! Ursi’s spot is wonderfully cozy and has everything you might need, and plenty of unexpected extras as well. The studio is spacious, quirky, and colorful, and the mattress was a luxurious feeling firm memory foam. Walking to the plaza is easy and very accessible, which was ideal for us. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Arcata!

I was able to pick an apple for the very first time right off of her tree ! Her place is quiet and warm and just what we needed to come home to after a long day out. She is extremely knowledgeable about Arcata and gave us all the best tips and tricks to navigate around town. The shower was amazing and an experience on its own and the property is full of beautiful plants, herbs, and flowers that attract all kinds of songbirds throughout the day. I would 100% recommended. This place was a delight and you won’t regret it one bit. Thank you again Melanie, you were wonderful. 🌻
