Family-friendly vacation rentals in Reykholt

We loved our two nights at Hild Cottage. It was a beautiful rural location with sunset views from the kitchen window yet just 1hr45 from Keflavík airport for our return flight. We enjoyed watching the ponies in a nearby field, seeing the plovers and sandpipers feeding and hearing their song.

We loved Erla's place! It was very comfortable and cosy and had the most amazing views. Despite being only 10 minutes from Bogarnes it was incredibly peaceful and we were delighted to both see the northern lights and do some stargazing. The cottage had everything we needed and the hot tub was a real treat at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend :)

We had a wonderful stay. The house is secluded and very peaceful but also a short drive to the nearest town with everything you need. It is warm and clean with the hot tube an extra bonus!

The barn house was beautifully built and decorated with spectacular views. The skylight windows were perfect for watching for the northern lights. The kitchen had all the basics and some extras like a nespresso machine and pods. We enjoyed cooking there and using the hot tub. The washer and dryer were super helpful. It was a great launching place for the Golden Circle. Stokkseyri is a cute little town with a great local pool. The turf house across the street was fun to explore as was the beach on the other side of the turf wall. It is very near Bakkahestar for highly recommended Icelandic horse rides with a local couple on the beach in Eyrarbakki. Nearby Selfoss has anything you need including an amazing fish market Fiskbud Suderlands for great prices on fresh caught local fish. Kristinn was very responsive and we loved our stay!

We had a wonderful stay for 5 days in the cottage. The landscape was breathtaking, the photos do not do it justice! The cottage is equipped with everything we could possibly need, and very easy to get to by car. The outside hot tub with geothermal water was a lovely feature and fills up quickly. Within an hour or two from the biggest touristy places which was nice. We will definitely be back!

I can’t say enough kind words about our stay at Stefan’s home. It was a short 30-40 minute drive from Reykjavík, and a great starting point for seeing popular sites like Thingvellir National Park and Gullfoss. Getting to the house was exciting, it is very remote and just when you think the driveway has ended, you keep going and drive nearly right on the beach! Beautiful surroundings, and we even got to see some seals close to the shore! The inside of the house was clean but not boring like a hotel room. A lot of neat artwork and comfortable furniture and lighting made hanging out in the house and enjoying the view a highlight of our stay. I would recommend Stefan’s place to any friend visiting Iceland that wants a remote and private home base!

Cannot put into words how amazing this place was. Very homely little chalet overlooking the most beautiful backdrop. Whilst the pictures look aged it was very clean, well equipped and super comfortable. The hot tub was amazing and a wonderful place to enjoy the northern lights from. Would deffo come back. One of the best places we stayed while in Iceland. We were able to walk to the private black sand beach to watch the sunset. So picturesque and beautiful. The yurt was very comfortable. The heated beds were perfect. Even caught a glimpse of the northern lights! Cannot recommend this place enough.

This place was peaceful, gorgeous, and exactly what I was looking for. The view was amazing, centrally located near both the golden circle and restaurants and amenities in selfoss. Sigrun and Sigurdur were wonderful hosts. The little stream chuckling beside the place was lovely. I would stay here again.

A lovely cabin in peaceful surroundings — the perfect place to recharge and enjoy a relaxing holiday. Highly recommended!

Location was perfect for sightseeing near and far. The airbnb was very comfortable and warm with a well equipped kitchen. Trausti was a great host. I would highly recommend this place.

Wonderful host, charming Airbnb. Niels was a great host, very welcoming and he offered suggestions on places to see in the area. The Airbnb is charmingly decorated with a variety of antiques. The home was spotlessly clean and the views are magnificent. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely cabin we saw the Northern lights from the hot tub. private and quiet Relatively close to Golden Circle attractions Selfoss and Hella.

Kids enjoyed the most because of the PlayStation .We loved the cute radio playing in the morning during breakfast and the coffee machine was perfect ! We were very comfortable in your house . House was perfect for a family of 4. Also loved the attractions folder . We enjoyed the Mexican food from the food truck company and the ice creams from the local shop. Watched a nice movie together last night . Was home away from home . Thanks a lot .

We have enjoyed this place, very peaceful and perfectly situated to visit the Golden Circle sites. The housing is quite basic, but sufficient and very comfortable. We recommend this place.

Great place with lovely views

Burma’s beautiful home is ideal for anyone who wants two bathrooms (hard to find in Iceland) and plenty of space. It’s in a quaint small town very close to the Golden Circle and not far from Selfoss, which has more substantial amenities. Easy drive to Gullfoss and Geysir, and a small grocery is within walking distance of the house. The views from the sunroom are beautiful. The kitchen is modern, functional, and spacious. The outdoor area, including the hot tub, is wonderful in the evening. The nearby restaurants, including those in Reykholt, are wonderful! We highly recommend this place for people who want extra space and don’t want to stay in the busy capital city. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

Nice cabin amongst the woods in Husafell. We were fortunate to enjoy the aurora from the deck on both nights! The floor heating made the cabin cosy. Husafell is wonderful place to enjoy nature, including several treks nearby, and Karl's cabin provided a nice home base.

Kristinn is an amazing host. Very responsive and always in communication. It really helped with our first visit to Iceland!

We loved our short but sweet stay at this peaceful location. Would definitely return on another trip! A perfect location for Golden Circle or heading further south. Loved it and the surroundings!

Great location within an hours drive to many, many sights. The area is very quiet and we liked the farm surroundings. The hot tub was clean and easily adjustable to your personal temperature preference. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.

We had a wonderful time. Our children loved how comfortable they felt. We loved how close the public pool, bakery, yummy restaurants and ice cream shops were. Overall will return back to Iceland and would love to book again with Edda.

A well-equipped, spacious basement appartment in a quiet neighbourhood just outside Reykjavik. It is easy to reach by car, and there are supermarkets, gas stations and charging stations at a 5-minute drive distance. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. And, speaking as a cat lover: there are 2 gorgeous big cats walking around that will come and say hello.
