We enjoyed the peaceful setting of Birdsong Cottage and loved our walks in the ecosanctuary next door. The history of this home is truly remarkable, and we appreciated having the historical context to deepen the experience. The kitchen was large and well-stocked, with a good-sized table for bigger gatherings. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and enjoying the gorgeous view over a glass of sparkling wine. Still the highlight of our New Zealand journey! The Shed - what a wonderful accommodation full of love and small details. It is built by David and it‘s simply astonishing . Everybody found a warm place to sleep. There is a wonderful baby cot and a highchair. We felt immediately at home, everything was very comfortable, especially with the slippers in every size and the woven blankets and carpets. At first one could think that it will become cold at night but David took care that there were enough blankets and hot water bottles- it never felt cold, just cozy! David is a dedicated host! He took us for a tour around the farm, taught us how to drive the quad bikes and baked great bread. He was wonderful with the children, they were allowed to feed the chicken and pet the cow. We booked this AirBnB on our way from Dunedin to Christchurch and stayed one night but one could easily stay longer. We also enjoyed drawing something for the shed and becoming part of it like many guests before us.

This was a great place to stay. The apartment has been put together beautifully and had everything we needed to live there for three days. Ross is a great guy and puts his heart and soul into running this air BnB. He’s always there to answer questions and he shared his local knowledge willingly. We thoroughly enjoyed being there and found it an easy base from which to explore the town and the surrounding area.
