A Great Riverbend Escape

CarolynRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Always a 5-star place to stay. We have family in Franklin and always want this house and are very disappointed if it is already taken. Quiet, peaceful location. Easy to get to. It's always neat and clean, decorated so beautifully. Plenty of amenities. We've stayed in other houses (when we couldn't get this one) and the host only provided 1 dishwasher pod, 1 laundry pod, 1 trash bag, etc. - certainly not enough for a weekend. Cherisse is always available and helpful. A perfect host.

Beautiful Mountain Home-Pets!

RosemaryRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We really enjoyed our stay! We were looking for a cute and comfortable place to stay while we were in town for my daughters musical performance at WCU. Greta's house was perfect. It was very clean and beautifully decorated and is very close to the university. This is a great house!

Amazing Lakefront home with private NEW dock

TaylorRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Our family had a fantastic trip, and Phillip was extremely proactive with communication and great recommendations for restaurants and fun activities nearby. The house had everything we were looking for and is very comfortable and inviting. They also stocked the kitchen with basic items you usually have to remember to bring…including a full variety of spices, oil, coffee, etc. The property itself is where this rental really shines! Beautiful view of Lake Glenville and the house is nestled in a peaceful cove with an impressive waterfall just across the way. There are several outdoor seating areas that make it PERFECT for whatever you’re looking to do. For those wanting to really get away to a quiet retreat, look no further! We would definitely stay here again!

Hardystone LakeHouse Hot Tub & Double Decker Dock!

BrookeRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Definitely 5++ star review. Everything we needed was already there. Best experience with Airbnb yet. Our family enjoyed everything Hardystone had to offer. We never had to turn on a TV because there were so many activities to keep everyone entertained. From Ping Pong and Pool Tournaments to Paddle Boarding to S’mores by the fire! We will most definitely rent through this group again!

2 Adjoining Homes - Walk to Downtown & Main St!

BrittanyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a phenomenal stay in Helen, thanks to our wonderful host and excellent accommodations. After our drive to Helen, GA, we didn’t have to get back in the car once — the location was incredibly pedestrian-friendly. The house is situated on a hill, offering a private and quiet experience. It felt tucked away from the town yet was just a short walk down to everything Helen has to offer. Access to the river and nearby hiking trailheads was also a breeze. 10/10 would recommend — we hope to be back next year

Mountain Laurel Cabin, Pond, Folk School Dish Wifi

MaxRating, 5 stars2 months ago
The cabin has a cozy feeling and is located nice and secluded at the end of a neighborhood, with plenty of privacy. Due to the weather we did not get to enjoy the outside but the bonfire looks like a great place to sit outside with family or friends. When booking, we didn’t realize the upstairs bedroom does not have a door, although this did not bother us because it was just my wife and I. We would go definitely come back here. Host was friendly and easy to communicate with.

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely cabin. The noise from the main road was a distraction however the quality of the cabin and its contents made up for this hindrance. We did not see any Elk but enjoyed the beautiful Mountain View!

Beardsicle Bluff

JaleahRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was our second time staying at Kerri and Steven’s place! The last time was me and my partner’s anniversary in 2023, and they decorated for us and left us treats. This time we were just going for a little staycation, and it was perfect of course. The bed is extremely comfortable and huge! We like that the TV can basically be seen from anywhere in the living room too! we sat out on the deck when the UV was high and got some sun with a view! So nice :)) Thankyou for hosting us again!

Flamingo Mountain Lodge

DeanRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Van and Pam were quick to respond to our questions and very helpful w all aspects of our stay. The cabin was in great shape and we loved, loved our stay there. Our little family reunion brought together brothers, sisters and their kids and grandchildren from Florida, Texas and California. What a special time it was for us and in a cozy, comfortable cabin. And the Blue Ridge Mountains did not disappoint. We soaked in the hot tub every morning as the sun was coming up over the mountain tops and from the balcony we were dazzled with a beautiful year ending sunset on New Years Eve. The Blackstone grill entertained several of us that love to cook and bbq. It was so very handy that we ended up preparing most of our meals during our stay using the Blackstone grill. The remote controlled fireplaces warmed up the cabin to the delight of our wives as temps dropped outside during our stay. Winds were too high for us to enjoy the outdoor fire pit. No doubt we’ll use it on our next stay.

Cozy Creekside Cabin

EmmaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We felt completely relaxed during our stay, it was exactly the peaceful getaway we needed. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was a highlight, especially at night under the stars. The remote location made it feel private and calm, perfect for unwinding. Check-in was super easy, and Beth was very friendly and communicative throughout. We’d absolutely stay here again!

This was my birthday get away and I loved the privacy. It was just like I had been it on social media. The most exciting art was they had birthday surprise awaiting my arrival per girlfriends request. We were a little scared as night fell because we were two women but I brought plenty of protection. The second night were more comfortable lol.The host was expecting and quick to answer any questions we had. It was nicely decorated. I had been wanting to come here for a minute.I did feel like it was kind of pricey for a non holiday and during the week stay.Ihave already recommended it to several people. Thanks for an wonderful experience.

Your guide to Murphy

All About Murphy

Located in the Appalachian Mountains, in the southwestern corner of North Carolina, the small town of Murphy is surrounded by three national parks in three different states and sits at the junction of the Hiwassee and Valley Rivers. Due to its strategic location, Murphy is a historic town with deep native heritage, with many of its sites mentioned in Cherokee culture and mythology.

Apart from its profound history, western North Carolina’s lush forest landscapes are one of the main attractions in Murphy. More than 500,000 acres of land and Appalachian Mountain range cover the Nantahala National Forest near Murphy, making it the largest national forest in the state. A variety of oak and sycamore trees, and dozens of less common species create a natural canopy over the forest, where the sunlight only pokes through briefly in the middle of the day.

Locally, visitors can take in the historic buildings in the town’s center, or even wander through downtown to the small shops selling handmade crafts, antique decor, clothing, and more. Each store is housed in one of the town’s old, original brick buildings.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Murphy

You can expect overcast skies and occasional rainfall throughout the year in this town surrounded by nature. During the summer, warm, humid weather settles in. Despite a bit of humidity, a sunny summer day is one of the best times to explore the Appalachian Mountains at the Nantahala National Forest. Fall and spring, in contrast, are cool and comfortable. Visitors can wander downtown to the shops set in historic buildings with seasonal wildflowers out front or head out on one of the many hiking trails nearby.

Winter is a short season, but it’s cold and usually the rainiest time of year. Despite the colder, wetter weather, hiking the Piney Knob Trail System in winter is a great way to see flowing streams and cascading waterfalls. The newly paved roads permit easy access, and once all is done, visitors can head back downtown to warm up at the various restaurants adorned in holiday lights during this time of year.

Top things to do in Murphy

Murphy River Walk

The four-mile Murphy River Walk near the town center is a great place to hike, and also bike-friendly. The trail begins at Konehete Park and runs alongside the Valley and Hiwassee Rivers with small, overwater footbridges running over them. Large, bushy trees hang over the sides of the trail, giving some coverage as you walk or bike. The Murphy River Walk ends at downtown Murphy, where you can sit down at a restaurant or shop local after your journey.

Cherokee Historical Museum

The Cherokee Historical Museum details the life of a Native American Cherokee in Murphy during the 1830s. Visitors to the museum are greeted by a soapstone carved into the shape of a sea turtle, which pertains to just one of the many Cherokee legends that can be read about during the trip here. Inside the museum walls is a collection of more than 2,000 relics and dozens of art exhibits that help portray the Cherokee culture and tell the story of their past in western North Carolina.

Nantahala National Forest

The Nantahala National Forest is home to more than half a million acres of forest landscape in western North Carolina. Visitors can choose from trailheads of varying difficulty, with the most difficult trek reaching the highest point in the forest at nearly 6,000 feet. One of the park’s highlights is its waterfalls. You can take the half-mile hike to the 75-foot Dry Falls, where the water cascades over a bluff into the river, allowing you to walk under the falls while keeping dry.
