What we liked the most was the location of the house, in the heart of the English countryside. Very quiet and wonderful nature place. The house was cozy. Suzanne has been very friendly and very communicative.

Sally (aka ‘Sal’) couldn’t do enough for us and was available as needed throughout our stay. She is a lovely lady having travelled the world and has many a story to tell. Sally’s cottage and its surroundings retains all the romantic comforts of a building of its age from the rickety floors to the large open inglenook fireplace. The property doesn’t have running water downstairs but the bathroom upstairs has both hot and cold running water. It took us no time to master the kitchenette using spring water for cooking and water from the well for washing up - this is all part of the charm and romance of this property. The River Lea flows gently through the gardens of the property bringing with it many of the local water birds. The gardens are so peaceful - there’s no main roads outside but you can be in the village of Wheathampstead by car in about 10 minutes where we also went for a pizza one evening. The walking in this area is beautiful and we would not hesitate to stay here again!

Garry & Lynne are just the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble when asking for advice or recommendations. The house is just perfect. Beautiful lounge and kitchen with everything you need. The bedding was so comfy and a wonderful in shower in each of the bathrooms. If you like walking this place is perfect. Great country park within walking distance. There are some great little villages about which are worth a trip. Watford town Centre has great shopping too. Don’t hesitate to book this little gem of accommodation.

We had a great stay at Sarah's place. It's tucked away from the road so could have been tricky to find, but the directions were great. Sarah met us at check in and made us feel at home. The apartment itself was clean and bright. There's plenty of natural light and a lovely view over the garden. The living room/kitchen area is much more spacious than the pictures show, which was a pleasant surprise. The location is great to reach the train station and the pub in walking distance was quite nice. The train line is relatively nearby so there is a bit of train noise, but for the space you get, convenience of the location and overall experience, its only a minor thing. The sound didn't keep any of us awake but you could hear the sound of passing trains. We'd definitely stay again and would recommend the place to any friends travelling to the area.

We visited the White Cottage Annexe for a birthday weekend and loved our cosy, characterful stay - the hot-tub in the beautiful garden by the river was incredibly relaxing, and you can also link your music by Bluetooth to the hot tub speakers or hang out on the sofas next to it. A well-stocked kitchen with essentials and a very comfy bed were much appreciated, as well as the robes, towels and sliders for hot tub! Thanks so much xxx

We had the most magical stay at this stunning countryside home for a bachelorette celebration, hands down the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in! The house is beautifully designed, warm, and had everything we could’ve needed and more. Set in the most picturesque spot, with rolling field views full of yellow flowers, it truly felt like the ultimate countryside escape. The open-plan kitchen and living area was perfect for our intimate dinner party, spacious yet cosy, and ideal for gathering as a group. Each bedroom had its own charm and was so comfortable and inviting. Outside, the garden was just as beautiful, and the hot tub was a total highlight! The attention to detail throughout the property made it feel really special, and the overall experience felt both luxurious and homely. Communication with the host was seamless and so helpful from start to finish. We’re already dreaming about our return!

Such a lovely place to stay. Warm and cozy in beautiful surroundings, Susy is an amazing host with a great personality and nothing was a problem for her ..Can't fault the place or the host . Perfect ! 10 ⭐️

We thoroughly enjoyed our homes and would be more than happy to stay here again. We enjoyed the farmhouse and annex with our family of 8 adults and three children. Both, but especially the farmhouse, were well stocked and equipped. The homes were very clean and spacious and the hosts were very communicative and helpful. We had a nice walk through the forest to Hall Park and then food on the high street (6 mins walk to nice selection of places)- so a really well located place.

Perfect weekend get away. So peaceful and relaxing. Definitely recommend booking the sauna and hot tub! The Jumble was so cosy and warm even on a cold weekend and Darren was super friendly and helpful with any queries we had.

We would definitely return! Only issue was only one toilet for the 3 of us and no real shower unit (merely preference for us so not their fault) They had some lovely cats, very friendly, cheeky too as one of them got into where we were staying 4 times through various windows 🤣

What a hidden gem! We stayed for a short break to celebrate a family birthday. Morag was so kind and accommodating. The children (10 to 13 year olds) loved being able to be hands on with all the animals. We were able to have a cosy time in the less than perfect English weather whilst enjoying the phenomenal views and wonderful quirkiness of this property. The space is really versatile, perfect for socialising with friends or family round that big dinner table, sitting out on the porch by the outdoor fireplace for a sun downer or lounging on the sumptuous settees indoors. We stayed in February, finding it worked really well as a way to have a glamping style break during the colder months. The wood burning stove made it so cosy and warm. I love to cuddle up by the fireside on a cold winter night. We’re also really keen to come back in summer to enjoy the farm and beautiful landscape in all its glory. This might have to become a regular bolt hole from North London for us!

2nd stay at Tanglewood - beautiful gardens - peaceful and quiet! Just what we wanted for a break from our hectic home life & work. Had a lovely stay at Misty Cottage with my husband and young daughter for 5 weeks, whilst our flat was being renovated. The property was homely and clean and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful, especially when we needed to extend our stay. The only thing I'd suggest is to explain in the Airbnb description that the washing machine for our cottage is communal as this would have been helpful to know beforehand. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat.

We had an enchanting stay at this festive cottage in Essex! The cozy ambiance truly captured the holiday spirit, making our experience magical. The cottage was smaller than we expected and the ceiling in the living room was very low, however, what it lacked in space it was made up in the charming character of the cottage. The host's attentiveness added an extra layer of comfort to our stay. From thoughtful touches to prompt communication. If you're seeking a charming and festive retreat with a host who cares about your experience, this cottage in Essex is a good choice.

We had a wonderful few days at Beehives Cottage, the cottage is really comfortable and cosy. The walled garden was great to let the dog loose in, and the surrounding estate had some great walks. It felt very private and secluded, a perfect break if you want a few days away.
