“I had a wonderful two nights staying with this lovely family on the lake shore. They have built new guest accommodation, with a large bedroom and ensuite bathroom. They usually provide full board as there is nowhere else to buy food locally. The food they cooked was delicious. They are used to doing ' agrotourism homestays ' where guests join in with the household activities. The Capachica Peninsula is ideal if you need to relax and rest. Very quiet and peaceful, it's not the place to go if you are not happy with your own company or if you need to be entertained. Don't worry if you don't get a reply to email messages - there is no internet and they depend on someone in Puno to take their bookings. They are always at home and will make you feel welcome even if they don't know you are coming!”

“My family of four (boys age 11 & 14) had a very memorable 3 night stay with Eustiquio, his wife and two sons. The home is very clean and ready to receive tourists. There was always hot water in the showers. The home is up the hill slightly, providing wonderful views of the lake from the dining area. The included breakfasts were delicious and satisfying. They easily accommodated our gluten free needs. We had quinoa pancakes one morning! Fresh, delicious lunches and dinners are also available for reasonable prices. (18-20sol/meal) It gets quite cold at night in June but there are a pile of blankets on the beds and the hot water bottles provided each night worked miracles. Eustiquio easily helped us plan our activities, often accompanying us on adventures. One day we traveled by his boat to a less visited reed floating island. Another day we hired a bigger boat to take us to Isla Taquile and witnessed a school festival. Simply walking to the “plaza” (about 20 min) is entertaining to be able see the farmers and the animals. (Dogs, donkeys, sheep, pigs) My husband is fluent in Spanish and the rest of us understand some so that made things easier. Not sure how much English is spoken. The host was also able to organize a private taxi to Chivay (Colca Canyon) which saved us from having to go to Arequipa first. I can easily recommend this family stay. Just be ready to slow down the pace and enjoy a glimpse of local life.”

“This little Airbnb/home stay was an amazing & quiet experience. My friend and I had done two hikes and needed a quiet place to recover from the crazy city of Cuzco; so we decided to escape to Lake Titicaca for some peace and quiet. It was beautiful farm land with no noise and a beautiful view of the lake. The food was home cooked, fresh every day and tasted spectacular. This is not a tourist place with a lot of attractions; it is very rural. But there are local hikes that are nice and short; and show beautiful views of the lake and islands. It is not far from “central” cities; approx 1.5 hrs from Juliaca and 2.5 hrs from Puno. We would highly recommend this place if you are looking for R&R and the true Peruvian lifestyle.”
