Family-friendly vacation rentals in Lewis and Harris

When we booked Otter’s Cabin we were looking for somewhere to relax and have some time to unwind and Otter’s Cabin gave us just that. The cabin itself is rustic and unique but this is exactly what we were looking for. The floating bridge was an adventure with 2 dogs before our day began but they got used to it quickly and by the time we left they were crossing it like pros. The views were outstanding and the seal visitors were a delight to watch. I would highly recommend Otter’s Cabin for anyone looking for a little piece of Scotland to relax in peace and tranquility.

This place is stunning. The views are incredible. Truly incredible. It was just my wife and I so it was huge for us. But it was a very large space if a large group. WiFi was great. Cute sheep right there in the backyard. I cannot recommend this place enough. We did not use the hot tub so not sure about that. My only warning is take care on the 15-20 minute road there on the single track. Some lethal potholes that if you hit just right would blow a tire.

An unbelievable and unique place to stay. The barrel was warm and very comfortable (even for my 6’4 husband), the cabin and deck was the perfect for outside/inside living, the bathroom was clean with a warm shower and the hot tub was magical. The stay was everything we hoped it would be and more, thank you King Ian and Queen Jess!

Dry Island is totally unique. We were blessed with the most amazing weather during our stay - so walking over the floating bridge was like walking to another world. Amazing views every way you look. Ian the host is very easy to communicate with and helpful. We were with a family group staying elsewhere in the area, and so didn’t take advantage of a shellfish safari - which would be great.

Beautiful spot with gorgeous views from the house. A great location if you want to explore both mainland and Isle of Skye. The house was clean and very well equipped. Great to sit in the hot tub and enjoy the view of the valley and the estuary and watch all the birds. We recommend the walk up to the top of the mountain summit opposite the house!

Roskhill cottage is awesome. We spent 5 nights here and made our stay truly special. The house have everything you may need and more, the beautiful view and garden filled with flowers, the BBQ hut it’s a great plus, comfortable beds, impeccable clean, good size bathroom and shower, close to little groceries stores, delicious bakery and good coffee, Dunvegan Castle and gardens and fantastic walkings around, plus gorgeous Coos cows! Really worthy place. Highly recommended.

The stay was absolutely gorgeous and exactly what we needed. The little touches around the house was very warmly received, and the location itself is a great base to visit attractions in Lewis and beaches in Harris (if driving). Asked the hosts twice for specific items, delivered to door promptly. Already considering a 2025 visit! Definitely recommend.

I had a fantastic stay and would absolutely recommend this Airbnb! From the start, the instructions on how to get there and recognise the place were super clear, which made arriving completely stress-free. The house itself is beautiful, with a cozy living room that offers stunning views of the loch – a perfect spot to relax after a day out. The beds were incredibly comfortable; I slept like a baby every night. Everything was spotless when we arrived, which made it feel welcoming and well cared for. A truly peaceful and memorable stay!

absolutely beautiful area. plenty of space for kids and dog in garden. sheep visiting often regardless of the gate being closed. house comfy and cozy and warm. bathroom was stunning and plenty of hot water.

Paar heerlijke dagen doorgebracht op de boerderij tussen de beestjes die zo nu en dan door je tuin banjeren. Schapen en kippen en 2 hondjes die je vriendelijk begroeten. De B&B zelf schoon en fris gezellig en authentiek ingericht. Gewoon heerlijk op t platteland met mooi uitzicht. Marie is een super lieve dame die er is als je iets nodig hebt. Zouden zeker nog eens terugkomen en raden deze B&B ten zeerste aan.

We had a great week in Alison's cottage and were fortunate to have warm, sunny weather all week. There's lots to do in the area. We went across to Skye several times. Alison was a great host, always responsive and helpful.

This cottage is perfect for those who may want to get away for some peace and quiet in a beautiful Scottish Highlands setting. Alistair is an amazing host, with a warm and welcoming personality. He made us feel right at home. and could not have been more accommodating.

Very comfortable clean place to stay. Great views. Easy access to whole area and good local amenities e.g. supermarkets and bakery/butchers within 10 min drive.

Ronnie's place was perfect for our first trip to Scotland. The surrounding area is gorgeous, mountains, sheep, and cows as far as the eye can see. Your view out the dining room window is perfect. We had everything we needed, plus the little shop in Glenelg for necessities. The ferry to Skye was a fun experience and very easy to get to. Our group of 5 stayed four days and were very comfortable. Only downsides are the midges making it tough to keep the windows open and the rain making it tough to dry clothes on the line - but not like Ronnie could've done anything about that!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Glenelg. The cottage was as described. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed the spectacular views from the garden and every window. Murdoch rang on our arrival which was lovely and we knew we could contact him if needed.

We had a lovely time. Ruarie is super nice and friendly and arranged everything with so much thought. The tiny house is super quiet and relaxing. We definitely want to come back and stay a little longer. Highly recommend this accommodation!

We loved it! The stone cottage was as beautiful as the surroundings and very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and everything was top quality. We ate at The Bistro as recommended and had one of our best meals ever! Can’t wait to visit again and would definitely stay here!

Beautiful house and location, next to a stream, set in woodland and much bigger than we expected. The beds were super comfortable and there was everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Maggie popped in to see us on arrival and on the day we left just to say there was no rush to check out for 10.00am. She had even turned on the heating as although we were visiting in May, the weather had turned cold. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Red Mountain Cottage is a wonderful play to stay - great views across Loch Harport at both sunrise and sunset, well equipped and clean cottage, quiet location and we found it centrally located for all the hiking and sights we wanted to see. Can highly recommend booking a table in advance via email to eat at Elgol Bistro if heading that way, catching the Bella Jane boat from Elgol to hike above Loch Coruisk up Sgurr na Stri is a must!! Stunning views. Thank you so much Allan & Linda and we look forward to visiting again, there is still so much to do!!

Il nostro soggiorno al cottage è stato semplicemente perfetto. Situato in una posizione tranquilla e panoramica, il cottage offre una vista mozzafiato sulle colline e sul mare circostante. Unsere klatschnassen Wanderschuhe wurden von Linda getrocknet, was uns sehr gefreut hat. Das Ehepaar ist sehr nett und man konnte alles fragen und sich gut mit ihnen unterhalten

Had a lovely two nights at the pod. It’s in an amazing location, very close to the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr. Stunning views of the ocean, rolling hills, and lots of farm animals from the porch. Had all the amenities you could need. Very comfy bed and couch. Spend some time at An Corran Beach - it was my favorite! Thank you, Angus!

Beautiful views of the bay, especially in the quiet stillness of the mornings. Nice location near the village supermarket and a couple of pubs. It’s peaceful and quiet with destinations like the Fairy Glen and Quiraing close by. Centrally located to all the major sights. Communication was excellent and very quick. Highly recommended.
