The Chapel Townhouse is a beautiful one bedroom property, hidden in the heart of central Brighton, affording you the privacy of your own home with the romance, style and grandeur of the best luxury hotels. Described by guests as "absolutely spectacular", "too good to tell anyone about", "100 times better than a hotel", "the BEST place I have ever stayed in Brighton", "outrageously cool, perfectly located and really delivers the wow factor" and "seriously the best Airbnb I've ever stayed at".
The space
A beautiful converted chapel dating back to 1876, the Chapel Townhouse is hidden along a private and picture perfect Victorian mews, accessible through private electric entry gates. Guests enter their own front door to find the grandest of staircases winding around an 8ft chandelier made from 300 antique crystal wine glasses, up to the studio room with a 15ft high ceiling, original stained glass windows, super-king sized bed, roll top bathtub and a second Victorian inspired chandelier made from black Lego bricks.
Guest access
You will have the property to yourselves for the duration of your stay. You can check yourselves in and collect the keys from a lock box and check out is simply a case of popping the keys back in the lock box.
Other things to note
The Chapel doesn't have a full kitchen for cooking so is best suited to guests who want to eat out at the numerous options on our doorstep. The Chapel has been designed more like a hotel suite than a regular house or flat and works best for short stays - there's a coffee machine, kettle, fridge, sink, crockery, glassware etc, but no full kitchen for cooking. So, if you need to be able to cook during your stay, then the Chapel sadly isn't the right place.
Because we know that short stays work best, we’ve set the maximum stay to five nights - we do have regular returning guests who will stay for longer though - if you’d like to book for longer than five nights, send a booking request through and we can approve it.
The location of the Chapel is incredible and is one of my favourite things about it. It's also the thing that the Chapel scores highest on with nearly every single guest giving the location 5 stars. Walk out the front door and you're right in the bustling heart of central Brighton - the Royal Pavilion estate, Brighton Dome and the Corn Exchange are across the street, the Theatre Royal is just around the corner and there's endless great shops, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops just a short stroll away. This is a double edged sword though and, occasionally, guests are surprised at how lively Brighton is. If you're looking for somewhere completely silent and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, then the Chapel might not be the place for you. If you want everything on your doorstep and to be able to walk everywhere, it doesn't get any better though.
One thing I'm sometimes asked is whether there is a separate bathroom - and yes, there is a separate WC with a toilet and hand basin, but there's no separate shower. There is a shower attachment on the roll-top bathtub in the pics though.
In terms of pricing, I always strive to make the Chapel as good value as possible - we set the pricing daily, according to seasonality and supply and demand, and our nightly rates can vary considerably depending on the time of year and day of week. If the price for your chosen dates is more than you would like to spend, you might find it more affordable on another day of the week, particularly if you're able to stay midweek (Sunday to Thursday are always great value).
We apply a discount of 25% to two night stays and a bigger discount of 30% to stays of three nights or more, so when booking take a look to see how much adding an additional night might cost - it might be less than you think. The cleaning fee is only charged once and is the same regardless of how many nights you stay for.
If you have any other questions before booking, message me and I'll reply as soon as I can.
