Some info has been automatically translated.
The LongHouse was designed by architect Nathan Crump (Hobart based) and was finished being built in 2023. It is situated just out of Cygnet and has the most spectacular views over Port Cygnet and the countryside.

You can walk into the lovely arts and crafts town of Cygnet, drive to various outstanding local restaurants, or stay at home and soak in all the house has to offer.

The space
The whole feel of The Long House is Japanese design meeting mid century design. Charred timber cladding and maple trees in the courtyard give the Japanese feel. Clean lines and the use of frameless corner windows coupled with the stacked brick fireplace give it the midcentury feel.

Accommodation wise The Long House is divided into three parts. The house incorporates the kitchen, dining/living and king bedroom with its own ensuite with luxurious corner bath. Studio 1 (middle) is a queen sized bedroom with its own stylish bathroom with shower and Studio 2 (end) has king bed (or splits to two singles), kitchen, its own fireplace and shower with double shower heads.
These seperate spaces make it perfect for weekends away with friends or grown family. Children under 12 or pets are not permitted to stay.

The kitchen is very well stocked with all you need for your stay including a double oven and drawer dishwashers. In the butlers pantry you will find the Nespresso coffee machine, a soda stream and the microwave along with a pretty well stocked pantry. No need to bring your cooking oils etc to this place.

For sleeping purposes there are remote controlled black out blinds on all windows in the bedrooms/studios. Wake up and open them all from the comfort of your bed. Bathrooms have underfloor heating for additional guest comfort.

In winter you have a choice of fireplaces. Enjoy to the double sided fire place from the living room and then outside on the deck. If you want more of an outdoor feel there is an outdoor fire pit at the end of the house, a fabulous place to star gaze from.

What to do:

Red Velvet Lounge Cygnet (2mins)

The Old Bank cygnet (2mins)

Home Hill Winery (25 mins) - Ranelagh

Mewstone Winery - (30mins) - Flowerpot

Neighborhood highlights

Cygnet township is a 15 minute walk away. It has a few of great cafes, an excellent restaurant called RVL that is open most Fri and Sat night over Summer. The Commercial Hotel in Cygnet is open every night and serves great pub food. For great lunches further afield try The Lost Captain at Huonville, The Kiln and Ranelagh and Peppermint Bay at Woodbridge.
In Cygnet you will find artisan spaces aplenty including the newly opened Balfour House (located main street Cygney) and local potter Ian Clare (who made all the basins for my bathrooms).
For a longer walk take the path around the Port which has the boardwalks and footpath up to the Sailing Club.

I have loved to travel in the past but have stopped doing it for the last few years. I have just joined Airbnb because I thought it would be a great way to bring the world to me. Having moved to Tassie recently I now rent my apartment in Sydney sometimes on Airbnb. I don't know what I would do without Airbnb.
