The space
Welcome to True North of Higgins Lake! Our property offers a comfortable & enjoyable stay, as well as the best of Northern Michigan's Up North experience.
The cottage is freshly remodeled, very clean, and offers everything you need to feel right at home.
The kitchen is stocked with the essentials to cook your favorite meals, as well as a gas grill to BBQ. There is a Keurig machine that brews a full pot or single cup, along with a fully stocked coffee bar to enjoy.
Each bedroom features an extra cozy bed, accompanied by luxury bedding to ensure a great night's sleep. There is a full bed in bedroom one, and an extra-large twin day bed in bedroom two. The living room has a comfortable queen-sized sofa sleeper. Ceiling fans are in both bedrooms, as well as the family room and patio. The cottage has both air conditioning and heat. This is an all-seasons cottage.
We have smart TVs in each bedroom, as well as the living room. We offer cable TV, Roku channels, and high-speed Spectrum internet. You are also able to log in to your favorite streaming platforms.
The bathroom offers a large shower and is stocked with extra-large luxury bath & beach towels, toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There is a hairdryer to use as well.
The living space has enough seating to comfortably seat the entire group. Dining table, a comfortable seating area, and a couch that turns into a sofa sleeper. There are also games and books for the entire family.
Our outdoor space is a gem! Absolutely beautiful surroundings with a large yard and lit-up bonfire pit area. We provide you with a couple bundles of wood to get you started. We can also arrange extra bundles or a delivery by the half-face cord. We have an outdoor seating and dining area, as well as cornhole and yard games. There is more than enough room to park your boat/rig and seasonal toys. We have a large pole barn with extra seating, a card table, and darts.
True North is an enjoyable walk to Higgins Lake, the Maplehurst dock/boat launch, with beach access. You can launch your boat for the day, go for a swim, relax at the small beach area, and float the day away. We offer various floats for the entire family to use. This is a great location to enjoy the water! Don't forget to catch a sunset at the dock as well.
No overnight mooring at Maplehurst dock. Daytime mooring only. Dock rules and regulations must be followed by all guests. Rules are posted.
Launch Information at Maplehurst dock:
"Any pontoon in excess of 14 ft launching must have a cantilever-type trailer (cranks up and down) so that the boat can be set in the water while the vehicle is still on the launch pads. V-hull boats should not exceed 18 feet, and must have roller-type rails. You will not be able to launch with a bunker-style trailer."
*For launching larger boats, we suggest using one of the State Park DNR boat launches or the West DNR boat launch. All three are 10 minutes or less from the cottage.
True North is less than 10 minutes to the North and South Higgins Lake state parks & beaches. We are also less than 10 minutes from Marl Lake and hiking trails. We are 20 minutes from downtown Grayling, which offers many popular restaurants, breweries, shops, and attractions.
True North is conveniently located near many local amenities, including Downtown Roscommon, local restaurants, grocery store, gas stations, Ice cream shops, parks, Cross Country Ski Headquarters, B&B Marina, and more.
20 minutes from Forrest Dunes Golf Course, 5 minutes from Ye Olde Golf Course, 30 minutes from The Dream and The Nightmare, 15 minutes from Redwood Golf Course.
