The space
FURNITURE: this is our personal cabin, and we have striven to decorate it tastefully throughout. The beds are medium-firm gel foam, and each has two firmer/fuller pillows with two moldable “alternative down” style pillows to suit different sleepers. The bedding is all high thread-count cotton, and the pillows are covered and regularly washed. The sofa is a pullout, also with a quality queen gel foam mattress, in the event you need to sleep some kids in the living room while parents are tucked away in the bedrooms!
LIVING ROOM: there is a nice and warming vented gas log set in the hearth, and it is available for use Oct 15 through April 15. We turn the gas off to it during the warm months. You’re welcome to build a real fire out in the fire pit any time! There is a 4K 55” smart TV in the living room that you can use to log in to any of your streaming accounts to stream 4k with the 100mb connection, plus a PS4. In the cabinet under the TV are some puzzles and family-friendly board games that we like.
KITCHEN: well equipped with plenty of high-quality cookware, utensils, spices, baking dishes, glassware, and plasticware for children, as well as adult children who want to play outside. We'll provide coffee, and popcorn for the Whirley-Pop, plus seasonings for anytime fun. There will be olive oil, cooking spray, and coconut oil.
GRILLS: we love cooking outdoors, and the deck on our cabin is beautiful, so we have both a 3-burner gas grill (that is plumbed, no chance of running out of gas!) and a large Kamado Joe ceramic egg cooker that runs on lump charcoal. We'll provide a few grilling sessions worth of charcoal for our guests to use. Plenty of grilling tools are available.
HOT TUB: the area out behind out cabin is on a ridge that slopes away in every direction, and the hot tub is open amongst the trees. Slide the lid off and enjoy soaking while feeling like you're in the middle of the forest. We built a deck around the hot tub for a perfect morning spot to watch the sun come up in the loungers, or to practice hot yoga in the sun during the summer! Plenty of bright lighting is available at night, as well as gentle string lighting. Our favorite is soaking in the hot tub with all the lights off to stargaze through the open canopy.
FIRE PIT: right beside the hot tub we built a hardscape fire pit with some Adirondack chairs for relaxing with friends and family, and s'moring yourself away. We'll always try to keep at least a few days worth of firewood available for guests, as well as some gloves and matches. Everyone starts fires differently, so we encourage you to bring a fire starter you are comfortable with, or hatchet for making some kindling. There are several racks in which wood is stored around the yard that guests are free to draw from, and you are welcome to gather any fallen wood from the 150 acres of forest behind the house. Please do not cut any live limbs or branches from any trees.
EV CHARGER: we've put a Level 2 charger in on the back of the cabin to fill up while exploring the rural mountain area. It's a Grizzl-E Classic - NEMA 14-50 40amp charger with J1772 charging plug. This charges at up to 30mph. You can look up the J1772 plug to know if it is directly compatible with your vehicle, or whether you’ll need to bring your adapter. Tesla owners will need to bring their J1772 to Tesla plug adapter. Alternatively, there is a NEMA 14-50 outlet immediately beside the charger you can use with your own charger if preferred. This can also be used as a shore-power plugin for small campers. Please do plug the Grizzl-E charger back in when you leave!
PARKING: there is plenty of parking in our large driveway, enough that you can keep the cars down and out of view of the cabin if you want! If bringing a trailer for your bikes, toys, camping or whatever, know that there is a sharp 120* turn in the driveway coming up, and it is a 6% grade. If you need the trailer by the cabin, it is best to back it up the driveway, however I usually park our trailer in the corner of that curve to keep it out of sight and mind. Check out the listing photos to see the driveway, and you can see where we park our little toy trailer.
HIKING: check our guidebook for a list of hikes around the area that we love!

Guest access
You have access to the whole property! There is a small owner's closet that is locked, and we keep a lock on the crawlspace.
Other things to note
The forest behind our home is entirely undeveloped and over 150 acres, but it is owned by a farmer down in the valley. You are free to walk around it some and gather fallen wood near the house, but please do not ride bikes, or motorized vehicles behind through the forest. We often see a family of deer out around in the forest, so keep your eyes peeled while you're relaxing in the hot tub!
We encourage families and friends to come and enjoy our beautiful space and outdoors, but it's important that guests limit volume outdoors in the evenings. Bring your Bluetooth speakers and enjoy, but sound travels in the forest and there is surely someone nearby who would rather hear the bird songs! We have to take complaints about noise seriously, and we'll intervene if any of our neighbors have a complaint.
