Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire property excluding any locked areas. Although guests have access of the entire backyard, we ask they stay within the property lines as we want to ensure we are always being respectful of our neighbours.

Other things to note
All guests must be 25 years or older.

Although we love pets, they are not permitted at the cottage.

The shoreline is rocky and the Bay has a shale rock bottom. Kayak and paddle board entry can be bumpy on the feet so we recommend bringing water shoes.

The Bay waters are on the cooler side, which can be super refreshing on a warm day!

We suggest hiking boots and a walking stick if you're planning on doing any of the more advanced trails such as Halfway Log Dump, Burnt Point Loop or Devil's Monument.

You’re welcome to bring your seadoo and launch it just down the road or in nearby Wiarton. The water near the dock is usually too shallow to dock, but the Bay is perfect to hit the open water for a day of exploring! Head out for a scenic ride to White Cloud Island—known for its shallow waters and sandy beach—then plan to trailer your seadoo back when you're day is done

The security cameras which are only located on the exterior and are static (they don't rotate) do not record any private exterior areas where you’d expect privacy, like around the hot tub/backyard dining area, sauna and outdoor shower. We take guest privacy very seriously and strictly follow Airbnb’s policies regarding camera placement and disclosure. we're happy to send you the camera views so you can see where they face.

As with any Northern area, during May, we often have black flies & during July, deer flies. They are not dangerous but can bite (like a mosquito). Being as we're close to the water, you may also experience mayflies which like to swarm near light sources but do not bite.

Please ensure you take time to read the house rules and manual to make sure that you are knowledgeable about your stay at The Lazy Loon and know what to expect.

Neighborhood highlights

Lazy Loon is located in the picturesque Georgian Bluffs, a township in Grey County which is located along the eastern shore of Georgian Bay. There's something everyone whether you're here to rest & relax or explore & adventure.

Heading north you’ll reach the peak of the peninsula, Tobermory where you can visit the famous Grotto, go shipwreck diving or start a journey down the Bruce trail.

Drive west and you’ll hit one of Canada’s longest sandy beaches, Sauble Beach-with surf, shopping and delicious restaurants.

Heading east along the shoreline, you'll come across Big Bay & the Stone Skipping Capital of Canada. Make sure to stop in at the General Store for some of their famous homemade ice cream.

A little closer to home, we recommend heading out for a hike to the Bruce Caves or to the popular Skinner's Bluff lookout. Don’t miss a visit to Gleason Brook Pottery on your way back -the unique studio and showroom of Timothy Smith, with beautiful hand-made pieces for purchase.

Or don't leave the property at all and spend your days swimming and sunbathing or perhaps fishing off the dock. The Bay is home to a variety of fish, including northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, salmon, and whitefish (please bring your own equipment). Then relax at night by the fire, watching the stars under one of the darkest sky’s in southern Ontario.

Whatever style of exploration you're looking for, The Lazy Loon is positioned in the perfect location to help make your trip experience unforgettable.

For nature lovers it’s worth noting that the Bruce is home to two National parks; Bruce Peninsula National Park which is a designated dark sky preserve and Fathom Five National Marine Park considered a diver’s paradise with 23 sunken shipwrecks to explore, four provincial parks and at least seven other protected areas. The Niagara escarpment which runs the length of the peninsula is a designated UNESCO biosphere reserve.
