The PERFECT base to visit all sights in Cherrapunjee in a private museum all to yourself! This cozy home in Laitkynsew village offers the comfort of modern living in a quiet village. Hike to double decker bridge & Rainbow Falls (15mins drive) or Ummanoi bridge (10mins). Be blown away by this areas awesome mountain vistas overlooking Bangladesh & magnificent waterfalls. The AirBnB is 45mins drive from Cherra/Sohra. NO MEALS provided. Two restaurants nearby and third in Nongwar 10mins drive.

The space
- place accommodates 4 adults comfortably
- 5th person can be accommodated in Sofa bed in sitting room on extra charge. Bed will be made with mattress toping for comfort. Mattress cover, extra linen and blanket will be provided. Apartment is small and cannot accommodate more than 5 people. NO exceptions for children/babies. We reserve the right to cancel with no refund if guests arrive with more than 5 people on checkin date irrespective of time.
-kitchen with rice cooker, electric kettle, gas stove, toaster, pots/pans, tableware, glassware, mini fridge, dishwashing fluid, serving bowls, cooking oil, basic spices provided for cooking.
- No Air Conditioning (AC) as it does not get that hot. Portable fans provided.
- Portable/pocket Jio WI-FI is available but connection varies based on tower.
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) /Aqua-guard treated tap water for safe drinking
-Eat Jackfruit straight from our tree in the backyard during June-July
- Driver’s room for extra Rs150/night to be paid to caretaker at checkin.
- Buy groceries in Sohra, small shop in village or eat at two restaurants in walking distance.
-Outdoor patio to enjoy the monsoons
- Enjoy complementary boardgames provided for guests to enjoy. Not to be taken home.
-Backup electricity available during power cuts. Electricity indicator in Kitchen. Red (electricity available) and yellow (electricity on backup).

Guest access
The place is entirely yours and private, facing a jungle view at the back. It is located below a private museum which has a separate entry and you will not be disturbed by visitors (which are limited). Free Entry to the Museum in the property will be opened for guests.

While we’ve strived to provide the basic comforts of a home in a remote village. it’s difficult to predict what could go wrong. Please contact the number I’ll share closer to check-in date for any issues during your stay. We will do our best to make sure your stay is comfortable.

LOCATION
Please see guidebook for LOCATION MAP. Note that if you’re planning to visit Dawki, Shnongpdeng, Mawlynnong, Pynursla, these places are located in a parallel mountain ridge to Cherrapunjee requiring approx. 3 hours driving time from Cherra area depending on where you go. Keep this in mind while planning your trip itinerary. Please note that you are choosing to stay in a village surrounded by JUNGLE. Flies and insects can enter the house if you don’t close the windows at night.

GOING TO THE AIRPORT
Traffic into Shillong from Cherrapunjee is always backed up near Upper Shillong. Keep this in mind on your way back to the Airport. Discuss with your driver when to leave Laitkynsew.

WEATHER
Best to carry clothing layers all year round as its cooler in high altitudes like Shillong and Cherrapunjee. Weather described below is specific to Laitkynsew.

November- March has lovely dry weather and clear skies. Days are warm and nights cool. Waterfall are dry-ish.

April - August - Monsoon season and heavy rains. Mostly warm and humid. Enjoy the sound of the rain and come prepared if you want to hike. Trails can be slippery. Waterfalls full flow.

September - November- less rainy days & more days to hike. Waterfalls beautiful and full. Great for pictures.

UTILITIES
Electricity- power outages are common in India and the same applies to this place. If you lose electricity there is a back up inverter that will allow you to have electricity for up to 12- 18hrs to run lights, charge phones, run fridge, aqua-guard, bedroom portable fans. Use heavy duty appliances like water heater, toaster, hair dryers and washing machine when main electric is back. Check electricity indicator lights in the kitchen. Red indicates main electricity available and yellow indicates house is on backup.

Wi-Fi: Jio Portable/Pocket Wifi is available for guests for use only in the house. Connectivity is dependent on the tower in the village. But reasonably reliable.

Cooling- Portable fans are provided for warmer/humid months (April - October) in the bedrooms that run on backup power. Pedestal fan in common area.

Heating- space heaters for cooler months (December- February)

CLEANING: No cleaning service is provided for guests. If you’re staying for 3 nights or more, we will clean the apartment and change sheets on the morning of the 3 day if requested.

WASHING: you may ask the care taker to have your clothes washed in the washing machine and hung to dry. Please pay the washing lady a tip. Please be mindful of the weather to ensure clothes dry.

HOUSE ETIQUETTE
please leave shoes outside at the entrance. It rains ALOT in this part of India and we’d like to keep the place clean. Grateful if you don’t smoke indoors.

This is a friendly and quiet Khasi village. Please respect the tranquility and don’t offend the community with loud music and parties (strictly not allowed). The place is safe to take walks in and around the village.
