The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. We liked the house very much. It was very spacious (even though one of the bedrooms was not available, which was mentioned in the house description). Kitchen was very well equipped, we only missed wine opener and wine glasses ;). The location is ok. Not exactly in the city center, but Matsumoto is small enough to allow you to reach amost everywhere on foot. Plus there are some restaurants and shops very close to the house. The house is at one of the busiest streets, yet we did not experience any noise. Parking place was a good addition, it saved us money on public parking (which are mostly paid). Communication with Akiko was very good, the host was very proactive and helpful. All instructions were very clear and comprehensive. I can honestly recommend this place to other travellers.

Syun’s place was in an amazing location so close to Kyoto Station. There is a 7/11 round the corner. The accommodation was very comfortable and very clean. I would definitely stay here again on visiting Kyoto.

Great stay in a peaceful location. The house is split into two separate floors, each functioning like its own apartment = perfect for two couples traveling together. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing, yet the metro station is just a short walk away. Very convenient and well thought out. Would definitely stay here again!

we were 8 adults and each had a comfortable bed and plenty of space. We even watched movies and really enjoyed the big round and tub. we forgot an expensive watch by accident and they shipped it to our next location in another city the same day!!!! Nearby is a convenience store and plenty of bus stops. The market nearby was also a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this airbnb to anyone who values cleanliness and good location. Beds were comfortable and air conditioning was so nice to have even in May. Checking in was just entering a code on the door and letting the host know we arrived. They even let us in a few hours earlier. We knew they were always available but we never needed anything since the place was pretty perfect. The only thing is that the washing/drying machine takes over 2 hours. But most do in Japan. Beautiful place and professionally maintained.

First I’ll say this is a gorgeous little home in Kyoto! I appreciate Takeshi’s responsiveness and clarity in instructions for check in and check out. and I appreciate his flexibility in check out time as well which allowed us time to sightsee in the morning of our departure. With that being said, the spot is a *little* bit of a walk from everything with no restaurants or shops within super close proximity. The walls are also thin so we could hear the morning sounds, so I’d bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper! The towels are super thin so bare that in mind. Also, my mother found wrappers(?) in her bed, so the changing of sheets are a little questionable but everything else seem spotless otherwise! Kyoto was beautiful and Takeshi made some great recommendations!

We had a wonderful stay at this spacious house, perfect for our group of 5 adults and 1 baby. My husband and I chose the tatami-style room to sleep with our baby, and it was a cozy and special experience. The house is located near the lakeside and close to the train tracks, a bit of a distance from town, but that wasn’t an issue for us as we had rented a car. We also made good use of the kitchen and even enjoyed a late-night supper together. Everything was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience, and we truly enjoyed our stay here!

This home is beautiful. It’s been recently renovated and it looked, felt and smelled new. The decoration and furnishings were really lovely. It’s in a quiet residential area about 20 minutes from the main shopping and sightseeing area, 10-15 minute walk to station and 3 stops to Kawaramachi markets. It comfortably fits 7 people in 3 different bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. Appliances and tableware were all high end. It doesn’t have closets in the bedrooms, just a couple of hangers, which seems to be common in Japan hotels. Shogo, our host, was very friendly, super communicative and helpful. Also very generous with his hospitality. This place is not in the middle of the busy sightseeing areas, but it’s relatively central and easy to get to places with public transport. There are also some shops and restaurants in walking distance. Overall, we had a wonderful stay! Very cozy and spacious, and equipped with everything we needed.
