This is one of the few places in the area with free parking.
For the first time ever, guests are invited to stay at the original Hobbiton™ Movie Set, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, and experience all the magic that Middle-earth™ has to offer.

Lucky fans will get behind-the-scenes access to the Hobbit Hole™, The Green Dragon™ Inn, cosy accommodations at The Millhouse, and more.

Booking opens at 10AM NZDT on Dec 14 for three two-night stays on March 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18.

The space
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, guests will have special access to 44 permanently constructed Hobbit Holes and other beloved locations in The Shire™.

Overnight accommodation will be provided in The Millhouse, a two-bedroom Hobbit-inspired home with a writing nook fit for Bilbo Baggins, and homey decor curated by the trilogies’ Creative Director Brian Massey.

With sweeping views of The Shire™, guests can also enjoy:
- Private access to a personal Hobbit Hole, set up for relaxing moments of Preciousss™ downtime and afternoon tea.
- An evening banquet in The Green Dragon Inn with a feast featuring beef and ale stew, whole roast chickens, freshly baked breads and plenty of ale, plus Second Breakfast™ and Elevenses™ served daily.
- A behind-the-scenes private tour of Hobbiton Movie Set to explore the makings of the trilogies.

Guest access
The front entrance has a narrow pathway and there are steps down to the bathroom. Alternatively, there is a narrow pathway outdoors to get to the bathroom.

I’ll be on site to welcome you when you arrive. Once you’re all checked in, our concierge will ensure a comfortable stay for you and your guests — including showing you around and organising meal arrangements with you.

Kia Ora, I’m Russell Alexander and I’m lucky enough to call Middle-earth my home. Back when The Lord of the Rings’ location scouts first discovered our working farm, we were only too welcoming to allow the Hobbits and their friends to set up home in our hillside oasis – and they obviously loved it so much they never left! Now we’re inviting you to come and join the magic for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
