How do I add check-in and checkout instructions to my listing?
You can add or update the check-in and checkout instructions for your listing in the Listing section of your account. Guests won’t be able to find the check-in instructions until 48 hours before their reservation starts, but the checkout instructions will be available to guests prior to booking.
Add check-in instructions
To add check-in instructions to your listing:
- Go to Listings and select the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Check-in method
- Select the option that suits you best, add additional instructions, and click Save
- Tap Profile
and then tap Switch to hosting
- Tap Menu, then Listings
and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, tap Check-in method
- Select the option that suits you best, add additional instructions, and tap Save
- Tap Profile

- Tap Menu, then Listings
and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, tap Check-in method
- Select the option that suits you best, add additional instructions, and tap Save
- Go to Listings and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Check-in method
- Select the option that suits you best, add additional instructions, and tap Save
Note: Self check-in may not be available in all countries.
Check-in method options
Options available for check-in methods include:
- Smart lock: A lock guests open with a mobile app or keypad
- Keypad: Guests can open the door with a code
- Lockbox: The key is stored in a small safe, which guests can open with a code
- Building staff: Someone is available 24 hours a day to let guests in
- Host greets you: A Host or Co-Host will meet guests to exchange the key
- Other: Guests can use a different method not listed above
Add checkout instructions
To add checkout instructions to your listing:
- Go to Listings and select the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Checkout instructions, and click Add instruction
- Select the option that suits you best and click Save
- Tap Profile
and then tap Switch to hosting
- Tap Menu, then Listings
and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Checkout instructions, and tap Add instruction
- Select the option that suits you best and tap Save
- Tap Profile
and then tap Switch to hosting
- Tap Menu, then Listings
and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Checkout instructions, and tap Add instruction
- Select the option that suits you best and tap Save
- Go to Listings and tap the listing you want to edit
- Under Info for guests, select Checkout instructions, and tap Add instruction
- Select the option that suits you best and tap Save
Checkout instructions options
Options available for checkout instructions include:
- Return keys: Ask guests to return the keys
- Lock up: Ask guests to lock the entrance door or close the windows
- Turn things off: Ask guests to turn things off
- Throw trash away: Ask guests to throw the trash in the bin
- Put dirty dishes in the sink: Ask guests to put dirty dishes in the sink
- Additional requests: Any additional checkout instruction not listed above
