The space
Originally Built in the 1980’s by a local fisherman Whale Song shack has been enjoyed and loved dearly over the years; with the same love and respect for this special haven we have renovated the shack to enhance your comfort and make your stay an unforgettable experience.
We are focused on a sustainable future and invite guests to disconnect, slow time down, immerse in nature and restore.
Our ethos is reflected in the shack we have preserved, the indigenous garden we grow, the products, suppliers and makers we share at Whale Song and the creative and incredible staff we work with.
Reconnect
Whale Song is a place to disconnect from the outside world, savour time, reconnect with yourself, your loves and nature.
While we invite you to disconnect; Whale Song does have WiFi for you to tap into when you need.
Dream
Two generous master bedrooms with dreamy views out to the Tasman Sea means from the moment you awake, you are captivated by the every changing mood of the ocean. All bedding is provided using 100% pure linen, including luxury 100% cotton towels and linen bath robes, electric blankets for the winter months for an extra cosy sleep.
Fall easily into your lush, cosy queen bed and enjoy the intoxicating sounds of the ocean as it tries to lure you away from your dreams that gently rock your sleep until the slow call of morning. Let the sunrise softly wake you and the moon shine tempt you to explore the silence, the crackle of the fire, the call of the ocean; and perhaps if your lucky watch a whales breach in the moon light; take your time.
Stories by the Fire
The rambling stone paths, lead you onto the extensive private decks, discover the fire pit with a window to the infinite ocean; a breathtaking view.
Watch the whales migrate, dolphins and Orcas pass, yachts cruise by, gannets dive for fish as the fishing boats haul, Pacific gulls glide, perch on the rocky reef and call… the sweetest sound.
As evening falls, enjoy a glass of wine by the fire, as the sun settles in the west casting its magical light show across the eastern sky.
If you are lucky enough to be at the shack for a full moon you can enjoy this stunning sight as the moon rises in front of the shack over the ocean.

To celebrate your arrival, we provide a bottle of our favourite local Sparkling and a treat from a local chocolatier.
Whale Song offers a variety of teas including, organic English Breakfast, local organic herbal teas, Villano coffee, Emme Mac Black coffee pods, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and delicious cookies.
Oats, muesli and milk of your choice.
Olive oil, Willie Smiths Apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar, Tasman Sea salt and Tasmanian pepper berries, basmati rice, Rustichella spaghetti, and French Puy Lentils are part of our pantry. We also have a selection of herbs and spices.
Our beautifully renovated kitchen has everything you need to help you craft sumptuous grazing plates and gourmet feasts your heart inspires.
Enjoy local produce collected from your travels and fresh bounty from the sea, as you cook, sing, laugh from the top deck kitchen, play a favourite record to set your mood and watch the sun dance on the ocean.
Explore the East Coast and discover some of the delicious local wine, sparkling and fresh produce, locally caught seafood, to the finest quality beef, artisan cheese, locally distilled Gin and Whisky.

Sand & Salt
If you love the beach, there is protected swimming a short walk down the lanes or around the headland at Henderson lagoon plus a wide expanse of surf beach, with surf in the right conditions for those who surf. Always take care swimming as conditions can change from time to time.
Snorkelling off the reef out the front of Whale Song will not disappoint for those with experience.
Breath
Letting the tide mark your path for the day, wander down the tea tree shrouded path at the south end of the garden, to the ocean, shells make a thick blanket on the sand resting after their long journey. The dried kelp and sound granite boulders weave in and out of the sun bleached land; creating lost worlds as you meditate combing through the endless intriguing shells. Time is yours to draw, dream, contemplate, enjoy and savour the warm sting of your first sip of tea or luxurious coffee and watch the ocean glisten under the sun as it stretches on forever.
Explore
If you feel like exploring the area Whale Song is a perfect base to access local attractions including the Bay of Fires, Freycinet National Park, Bicheno, St Helens and the many stunning east coast beaches and hikes this pristine region has to offer.
During whale migration season keep a keen eye out for humpback whales, dolphins and orcas as they swim by directly past the shack all year round; use our binoculars to help spot the activity.
Whale song is a place to restore, enjoy peace, dream, find inspiration, adventure and joy.

Guest access
You will have complete privacy and access to the entire Whale Song Shack. The grounds are yours to enjoy, and the beach out the front a beautiful space to explore; the beach is not private property so at times others will enjoy this space too; usually to collect shells or use the walking track around the headland. There is a private lock up which is not accessible however you are free to enjoy the entire area around it.

There are three ways to enjoy your coffee at Whale Song, French press, stove top espresso or Nespresso Pod machine with Emme Mac Black compostable coffee pods. A milk frothing machine to top off the perfect coffee.
