Come stay at Watchmen Ranch, an off-grid home nestled along West Elk Creek, 35 minutes north of New Castle, within the Flattops.
We are family-friendly & pet-friendly! The West Elk Trailhead is popular for it's off-roading, snowmobiling, hiking, & hunting. Minutes from rock climbing, rafting, fishing, hot springs, & skiing; we have it all!
The space
The yurt tent is 16’ diameter with a beautiful deck and views of Mt. Sopris. With a queen size bed, game table, and all you need for a cup of coffee or tea in the midst of an Aspen grove, you’ll love connecting with nature. Outdoor private shower and compost toilet (camping toilet) makes sure your stay is comfortable during your time with us.
Guest access
You’ll have access to the north woods of our property, with private parking and access to hiking within our forest.
Other things to note
We are fully off-grid: solar and battery, with a generator back-up. It’s quite the experience, but it does mean we have to watch our power consumption.
Please no space-heaters or high power appliances as it will cut our power overnight for everyone on the ranch :) We do provide appliances and comforts in the tent that are energy efficient.
Our guests have access to internet via our Starlink satellite internet connection. However, outside of that connection we are about 10 miles from the nearest cell service; downloading music and map directions are highly recommended for a smooth trip up the mountain.
We also HIGHLY recommend getting your groceries before coming up the mountain, the nearest grocer is City Market, about 35 minutes away.
