The Tennessee Tiny House is located on a private 4-hectare property near Genappe, 30 minutes from Brussels, but a world away. Dozens of hectares of rolling hills around the property give total privacy & isolation as huge windows open up onto peaceful views of woods, grassland & wildlife.

Welcome to the Tennessee tiny house!
Experience living completely immersed in nature, at the intersection of a beautiful biodiverse forest and protected grassland, and feel the stress melt away in this 100% old-wood tiny house.
This is a truly special place, and many find it surprising that it can exist so close to Brussels. With all sorts of wildlife coming within meters of the house (don't be surprised if you see families of deer, rabbits, foxes, raptors, herons and of course butterflies), this is an immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside.
The listing includes:
- A 12 m2 old-wood tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the forest and grassland;
- Lots of privacy on a 4-hectare farm-in-the-making;
- A wood stove;
- A plush king-sized bed with an insanely comfortable mattress and plenty of pillows;
- A dining table with two soft benches for sitting and eating and/or working (offline);
- A modern kitchen with a mini-fridge (no freezer!), gas burner and stove, as well as pans, cutlery, glasses and a Bialetti coffee maker. + soap, sponges and towels to allow you to wash the dishes. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a micro-wave.
- Heat for cold days;
- Battery powered 220V electricity;
- A 30 m2 raised deck;
- An outdoor gas bbq from April to September;
- Outdoor dining and lounging furniture.
During cold season: Bring slippers and warm clothes with you. The tiny house will be cold when you arrive. You will need to light a fire, and it will take at least an hour to warm up the place.
You might wonder why the cleaning fee is on the high side. Actually the fee also covers various service needs for this isolated place such as delivery of firewood, replacement of gas bottles, removal of dry toilet, cleaning of solar-lamps along the paths etc.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Can I get to the house without a car?
A: Our property is very isolated. Unless you bring your bike with you, any public transportation’s closest stop will be a little too far away for a walk.
Q: Do I need to bring linens?
A: Nope! The bed will be ready for you.
Q: Does the tiny house have a shower?
A: The tiny house has a 100% outdoor shower. While it does have hot water, please realise a cold weather might impact your overall shower experience. Also, the shower is not available when temperatures are below 3 degrees celsius. Shampoo and body wash are provided, but not towels.
Q: How will I receive the key?
A: The keys will be put on the door before you arrive. Note you will probably have no physical interaction with the host at all.
Q: Is breakfast included?
A: No it isn't. Most guests know exactly what they want and bring their own.
Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking?
A: Yes, but as noted above, you’ll need to wait for my reply. In other words, you’ll only be able to book last minute if I see your message on time. It doesn’t hurt to ask though.
Q: Do you exceptionally allow early check-ins?
A: Unfortunately not. Our cleaner needs every second she has to prepare the place.
Q: Can I bring my infant?
A: Unfortunately not. The tiny house wasn't designed for infants and many dangers are present.
Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog?
A: We love dogs, but this place is gradually becoming a working farm, so we can not allow animals. Please don't try to sneak one in.
Guest access
Access is uneasy. The last half km is a bumpy paved road. You’ll park 200m away from the tiny house and will need to walk to get to the tiny house (use one of our garden wagons to transport your suitcases if helpful).
BOOTS: The path to reach the tiny house can get very muddy (and thus slippery), even several days after the last rain. Bring your rubber boots.
Guests have access to the entire tiny home and the property it sits on. DO NOT enter the neighbour’s property.
Other things to note
The Tennessee Tiny House is mostly off the grid, meaning guests should note a few things:
- No Wifi, very little cellular coverage: take this as an opportunity to disconnect;
- Drinkable running water;
- Solar panels & battery: monitor your own usage;
- Composting toilet;
- Pack it in, pack it out: please take your trash with you when you leave;
- Expect to hear wildlife noises at night;
- It is possible you gets bugs inside, especially during the summer;
- While the house is very isolated and very quiet, you may hear farm equipment on occasion from the neighbouring fields or even from our own activity.
- There are other lodgings on the property. As such, you may bump into folks if you walk around. You won’t see the other lodgings from the tiny house though.
