The space
Welcome to The Catskill Burrow, a one-of-a-kind earth-berm home located in Bloomville, NY. Originally custom-built as a Cold War era survival shelter, this unique structure features fully underground living quarters designed for safety, relaxation, and energy efficiency. Today, it has been re-imagined as a sun-drenched sanctuary for families and groups to slow down, reconnect, and create lifelong memories.
The Mystery: The house holds a secret. Somewhere within the walls is a door leading to the original "Real Bunker", a time capsule of the home's history. We provide the flashlights, you provide the curiosity. Can you find it?
The Social Hub: The Pine Room
The heart of the home is the Pine Room, a stunning atrium with 12ft ceilings, radiant heated floor, and unique floor skylights that peek into the underground level below. It's designed for connection and creativity:
- Play & Move: Challenge friends to Foosball or Darts, or get a workout in on the rowing machine and yoga mats.
- Create & Explore: Stargaze through the telescope, paint a masterpiece on the easel, spin records on the turntable (Marshall speaker included), or play the electric piano and guitar.
- Fuel: A dedicated tea/coffee bar (tea bags, gooseneck electric kettle, K-cup coffee, French Press, Nespresso Aeroccino electric milk frother) keeps you energized.
Chef's Kitchen & Dining
We didn't just stock the kitchen. We curated it for foodies. Gather around the live-edge single-piece wood table after cooking with our premium gear:
- Gadgets: Breville Bambino Espresso Machine, Fellow Opus Coffee Grinder, KitchenAid Stand Mixer, Cuckoo Rice Cooker, Instant Pot, and Pizza Stone.
- Social Cooking: Host a feast with our provided Iwatani portable butane stove, Korean BBQ Grill Plate, and Hotpot.
- Pure Water: No need to haul any plastic bottled water. Enjoy pristine water thanks to our whole-house ultra-filtration system, plus a dedicated Reverse Osmosis faucet at the sink and a Brita water dispenser in the fridge.
The Underground: Cinema & Sleep
Descend to the quiet, earth-sheltered lower level for the ultimate relaxation.
- Movie Night: The Movie Room features a massive sectional, a 100-inch screen with projector, Apple TV 4K, and Sonos sound.
- Sleeping Wing: 4 bedrooms including a King Ensuite, 2 Queens, and a Bunk Bed Room with 2 Twins over 1 Full, perfect for kids. We also have 2 extra twin beds that can be set up for flexible sleeping arrangements.
- Wellness Wing: Down the hall, unplug in the private Sauna.
The Loft: Work, Play & Soak
The upper level overlooks the main living space and offers three distinct zones:
- The Spa Room: A private enclosed sanctuary with a round soaking tub, hanging bamboo chair, and nature views.
- The Workspace: A height-adjustable desk with Herman Miller Mirra chair, Mac mini, 32-inch monitor, and a printer.
- The Kids' Lounge: A dedicated spot with toys, board games, TV, and an Xbox Series S.
The Great Outdoors
Set on 6 acres & bordering NYC DEP protected forests, our property is a natural playground.
- Activities: We have sports equipment, laser tag set, water guns, and a splash pad (in the summer).
- Relax: Gather by the stone fire pit or grill on the dual-fuel BBQ (Charcoal/Propane) with a side burner.

Guest access
The Burrow is all yours. You have exclusive, private access to the entire home and the surrounding 6 acres.
- The House: Feel free to use every room, from the underground sauna and cinema to the loft round tub and workspace.
- The Mystery: Yes, you are allowed to enter the secret "Real Bunker", if you can find the door!
- The Outdoors: Enjoy the fire pit, the grill, the lawn, and even check out the chicken coop. We are adjacent to hundreds of acres of NYC DEP protected forests, so wander until your legs are tired and your soul is full.
- The Garage: Guests may access the garage for the following needs:
1. Retrieving firewood, snow shovels, and/or melting salt.
2. Swapping the spare propane tank.
3. Disposing of bagged trash into the large bins.
Other things to note
Winter Travel Advisory: The Catskills are beautiful but unpredictable in the winter. 4WD/AWD vehicles with snow tires are strongly recommended. Our snow plow service comes out automatically at 3+ inches, and we provide snow shovel and melting salt in the garage for your convenience.
During colder months, we also move our outdoor dining table and Adirondack chairs into the Pine Room, so you can have extra places to dine and lounge without the chill.
