On the lake

This home is right on Lake Huron.

Unwind in the hot tub

This is one of the few places in the area with this amenity.
Come visit the beautiful historic town of Bayfield and stay in our very chic family friendly cottage by the lake, affectionally known as the Sugar Shack. Just a one-min walk to the beach and a short stroll or bike ride to the village square where you can enjoy local shops and restaurants. Cozy up and enjoy family time with some arcade games & vinyl, BBQ on the patio, relax in the plug and play hot tub, watch the kids play on the playset or light the campfire and enjoy the starry nights.

The space
When you first arrive you will use your smart key code to enter which is active from 4pm on you check in date to 10am on the day of your check out. You will be greeted with an open concept, living room, kitchen and dining space complete with a large screen TV (w/ Netflix and Disney +), an arcade game, record player and gas fireplace. Down the hall there is a mudroom to hide all the stuff, a powder room, a second access to the back porch and full-size laundry hiding behind a cute barn door. Our main bathroom is clean and modern and has a dual rain / handheld shower head and is enclosed with a sliding glass door. Next, we have the 'Nautical room' with bunch beds, a nook for the kids to chill, and toys and books for them to enjoy. At the end of the hall there is a linen closet with extra towels and blankets if you need them, and some board games... note the Starwars / 80s theme. Then we have the 'Pineapple Room' (Master) with a king size bed and the softest sheets ever, and a desk so you can "work from home" Speaking of, the internet is 50 fiber and it works great. Finally, the 'Fern and Fawn Room' with double bed and Brooklinen sheets (mmm). Head out back, and chill on the deck, where you can grill on the BBQ and sit down to a dining table that seats 6, shaded with a large umbrella, or relax in the hot tub while taking in the colors of the beautiful Lake Huron sunset. The backyard is spacious and well-kept with privacy hedges surrounding it. Towards the back there is a small playground/swing set for the kids and a fire pit. As if that were not enough, we have a beautiful porch to enjoy your morning coffee and watch all the passersby's, or peak down the end of the street and see the lake horizon. Take a 1 min walk towards it and get a gorgeous view of the water, or take the slightly adventure hike down the 'kinda' steep hill and enjoy the beach firsthand.

Guest access
Our long driveway should accommodate at least 4 vehicles, so parking at the cottage is not an issue, however during the summer downtown does get pretty busy during peek hours, so we recommend walking or avoiding prime lunch and dinner hours.

Other things to note
Please note that the Hot tub is a plug and play and is not as powerful as a 240 volt hot tub, so it takes a little longer to reach full temp if it has dropped. Should there be a power outage or other unpredictable event,
this may impact it's usage. In the event that the Hot tub requires maintenance and/or is out of commission, we will do our best to let you know in advance, (but sometime these things happen without warning) and we ask for patience and understanding as we will try to work with you to remedy the issue.

The entire cottage is floored with tile, so it does get a little hard on your feet/legs. We recommend that you pack with you some comfy, cushy slippers. We should also mention that the beach access is quite steep and would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. If you should venture down please go slow and mind your footing. There is a stairway access on at Glass st. (just a short walk further down the road).

Neighborhood highlights

The square in Bayfield, where all the cute local and artsy shops and restaurants are, is a 15min walk from our quite street. There is also a large park, splash pad and ice cream shops for kids, if you got them. Or you can walk 1 min from the house towards the lake and you are right there. We often take a walk along the lakeside street of Tuyll to go cottage gazing. It is a quite and peaceful and gorgeous neighborhood, we ask too that you respect that during your stay. It also should be mentioned that its a 5 min drive to the local Foodland grocery store and LCBO and yes even Tim Hortons! Stick that in your pipe.

A little about me. I am a social service worker for the City of Stratford who has a photography business that I run on the side. I am married to a very charming man named Wes and we have three beautiful girls, an 8 year old and a set of 5 year old twins. My husbands family has been coming to Bayfield every summer since he was young (they have a trailer at Wildwoods) and it has become our home away from home. Finally we are fulfilling a dream of owning a vacation rental here, so we can share this beautiful town, and all that we love about it, while providing a cool space to enjoy it in. We hope we can be great hosts to you and that you have a great experience at our Sugar Shack!
