The Roam Inn delivers Boho Glamping & Farm-Fun adventures at Big Cedars Farm. This camper traveled the Oregon Trail...yep, toured it, AND was featured on a blog...before she was set here-- nestled on the plateau we call Billy Goat Bluff. A "Tiny House" original, your memorable stay includes: friendly animal interactions, morning sun rises from our updated 1959 Dalton "Canned Ham," breathtaking views from the outdoor kitchen, electricity, water and even a hot shower at the hobbit-styled privy.
The space
A memorable stay awaits at this one-of-a-kinds glamping escape in a 1959 Dalton Canned Ham Camper. Watch your head... it's not for tall people without a bit of ducking-- but it is the perfect spot to get away and experience nature without all the hassles of traditional camping.
The Roam Inn is one of 3 offerings we feature at Big Cedars Farm.
The land we call Big Cedars farm has been owned by my family since the 1940's. At one point my grandfather actually owned the entire mountain. We are just minutes from town located in historically protected region of Ellett Valley and just minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. It's the perfect spot to be "near town" yet embrace nature and the surrounding valley mountains
Located on back-side of Blacksburg Mountain, along Mossyspring Creek overlooking Paris Mountain, this 5 acres farm features opportunities for private events, memorable hospitality experiences, stunning views, a relaxing retreat and farm adventures abound.
Each hospitality space on the lodge is different...
The RoamINN is cute and quaint-- great for those who like to be cozy.
For more traditional accommodations try The Wandering Goat Lodge. The lodge sleeps 6 and can accommodate more upon request in the 1,740 sq ft PRIVATE access 2 bedroom, 1 bath + Sleeper sofa lower apartment. There is plenty of space for air mattresses and room to entertain inside around the bar and full kitchen.
Camping at Mossy Spring Beach - offers a private traditional-style camping site with creekside beach. Seasonal use. Access to the privy bath house is available and encouraged.
Guest access
The camper is for 2 ADULTS and 1 child. It is a cozy and small share space in side.
You will have the entire camper and kitchen area for your stay.
Bonfire area in front of the RoamINN will also be yours for private use. There is a liability fee to build a fire and that does include firewood. $15.
You are free to roam the property to interact with the animals in pens further toward the main lodge.
If you prefer a bonfire that is bigger... please inquire about availability of the bonfire pit located in front of the main lodge.
Most times you will also have the bath house and privy area to yourself.
However...
If we have events going on there may be a shared space for a few hours.
The beach area and pool are shared spaces.
Be wary of food outside as wildlife does visit.
Hiking is allowed on Mossy Spring road and continues to the top of Blacksburg Mountain-- ask and we can guide you
Other things to note
Feeding animals is encouraged.
Please keep fingers together and palms flat and low-- this is the safest way to deliver food. ( make your hand a slightly cupped "bowl")
You are at your own risk around the animals. Do not enter pens. Watch your fingers please.
Be mindful of the land. Please use the soaps provided.
The water is potable at the Camper Kitchen.
PLEASE...
respect the septic systems in our valley... and do not flush any feminine products down the Privy toilet.

I am a Blacksburg native. It's a beautiful place to live, visit, and raise a family. My family has owned this land for three generations. I welcome you to experience a morning sunrise with the goats, take a stroll along the rolling landscapes or sit on the beautiful creek-side beach. Here you are close to nature, and town at the same time-- I think it's the perfect balance.
