The space
2 adults + 2 children max
✨ Now with outdoor bath 🛁
You will be staying in a piece of British motoring history, a 1979 Bedford CF that we have lovingly restored and rebuilt in a style that pays homage to its roots as a 70’s horse box- think part gypsy wagon, part woodland Hobbit-hole with a vintage twist.
Rustle up a romantic evening meal together in the fully-equipped kitchen with hob, oven and sink or snuggle up by the wood-burning stove in the cosy lounge area and unwind with a good book and a cup of tea. Fill up a picnic hamper and hit the beach at sunset, or settle into comfy camping beanbags and light a fire in our original Indian kadai fire pit or enjoy a soak in the outdoor bathtub. Wash off from the day’s adventures in a hot rainfall shower, then curl up in the over-cab double bed and stargaze out of the roof dome until you fall asleep.
The camper is sited in a back-to-basics camping meadow with drinking water, outdoor showers and compost toilets. Sitting far enough from the rest of the site that you can enjoy your own space, yet close enough that you can gather round the communal fire pit with a beer of an evening.
The camper is fully equipped for winter with wood-burning stove and firewood, hot water bottles and extra blankets. It is well insulated to hold its heat and is very stable in windy and stormy weather due to being sat on blocks. Come and experience the wild side of Cornwall in the winter months!
(Important: please read the "Other details to note" section below before booking)
Guest access
The entire camper is yours to enjoy- including the original unrestored cab should you wish to use it as a coffee lounge!
Outside of the camper itself you will have access to the entire campsite. There is parking right next to the van, and the compost toilets and outdoor showers are just a short walk across the field. There is no toilet inside the camper, and you are welcome to use either shower, outdoors or in.
In summer the communal firepit will be lit, and hosts and guests alike come together to share beers and stories around the fire.
You are welcome to bring one additional camper van or tent to pitch alongside the van; additional pitches are available at an extra charge should you wish to bring more friends and family along.
Other things to note
The camper is an off-grid experience, which we’ve made as easy as possible for guests to enjoy. However it is not a house, some things will be different than you are used to and your stay may involve some small tasks such as making up the spare bed and lighting the fire. Please be prepared for this and only book if you feel this is something you will enjoy- after all, it’s all part of the van living experience!
The camper is accessed via steps and the bed requires climbing into from the bench seat; please consider this before booking! If the over-cab bed isn't suitable, you will have the option to make up a bed from the seating area which has very comfortable high density foam cushions. The process is simple and similar to setting up a caravan bed.
We can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children across the two double beds but the small space may not be comfortable for more than 3 adults staying at once; please bear this in mind when booking. We provide all bedding and towels for the number of guests booked on the reservation.
Everything in the camper is either vintage or handmade and must be treated with care. Accidents happen, but please bear this in mind and treat her gently- she is 46 years old after all! Please supervise children at all times and do not allow them to pull / lean on the decorative wood or approach the wood burner when it’s lit.
We supply your first night's firewood for free as part of your stay; you may wish to buy your own (small logs) for any additional nights.
The space is cosy but deliberately pared-back and basic, so you won’t find any WiFi here, and leave your gadgets at home- the van is only capable of running low energy appliances i.e. phones and laptops, so hairdryers and TVs are a no. But we do have a fire pit, fresh sea air and plenty of stars to keep you entertained at night!
