Do you know the dream "One day I want to buy a piece of land with old fruit trees and renovate an old farmhouse in the countryside. I want to sit around the bon fire with my family and friends".

"Blomstergården" is that dream come true - and we are happy to finally open the doors and welcome you as our guests, to share this magnificent place.

The space
Welcome to Blomstergården! We are happy to welcome you in our home in the charming Wendland countryside. Are you looking for a peaceful get-away – this is it!

We have spent the past year (2019-2020) completely renovating the former Mayor’s farm house built in 1853. The farm is a heritage protected building placed in the heart of a historic Wendland Rundling (*a UNESCO world heritage object).

The farm house is built in the traditional “Fachwwerk style” (half-timbering) and has been extended twice. Hence, it has an unusually large size, which makes it one of a kind. 3 hectares of undisturbed land belongs to the farm and the old fruit trees (apple, pears, plums, sweet cherries and walnuts) are a delight when blossoming in spring or carrying fruits in the late summer months.

If you like cooking and baking you have come to the right place. The house has a large sized kitchen with a SMEG oven, another baking oven, a cast-iron stove, two fridges and enough glasses, plates and cutlery to host large dinners. There is a large dining room with a wood-stove and a smaller room for breakfast, adjacent to the kitchen.

The impressive former Mayor’s Hall (70m2) can host large groups for dinners, workshops, exhibitions or cinema evenings (a projector and a screen is at hand, off course).

The living room has two large couches and comfy chairs, perfect for looking at the fireplace, reading books and magazines, playing board games and listening to music or make use of fibre-optic WIFI for streaming.

There are currently 6 sun-lit bedrooms on the ground floor. Each guest room has a large double bed (140, 160 or 180cm*200cm) and eco-sisal carpets. Bedlinen, pillows and single-duvets are provided. One guest room has a sofa bed. Two additional guest beds with mattresses (140 * 200) are available on request.

There are two bathrooms on the ground floor. One with a large sized walk-in shower and one with a free-standing bathtub. There are two washing machines and two drier available. Towels, shampoo and soap are provided.

Our farm is surrounded by an old brick wall. It has a large, grassy garden with old trees on all sides. Please feel free to use our “hyggelige” Danish-Design garden furniture (“Tine K” sofa couches and sun-chairs) and to relax outside in the sun. For leisurely breakfasts and long dinners, we have beautiful ones Skagerak - Drachmann sets. BBQs-fans will be lucky with 2 Espegard fire pans.

The farm courtyard, apart from the farm house, also consists of a large barn and a beautiful old-brick-building, which makes the inner courtyard undisturbed from the outside. Only the farm cats may come by to say hello – and they are lovely!

In the middle of the Rundling there is a public playground for kids to have loads of fun in. Two bicycles are available if you would like to explore the surrounding countryside.

Neighborhood highlights

Wendland is one of a kind ! A joyous combination of untouched nature, heritage sites, arts and crafts and not least resistance culture!

Wendland is the least populated area in all of Germany, and has the highest density of organic farms in the country. Here, meadows, marshlands, and forests are plentiful along the Elbe river.

In 2012 the "Wendland Rundling villages" were shortlisted as candidates for the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

For 12 days in Spring (from Ascension Day to Pentecost) Wendland farm house owners organise the Festival "Kulturelle Landpartie" with concerts, theatre, open arts and crafts workshops, public talks, guided tours, cake & coffee, BBQ etc. in so-called "Wunderpunkte" all around Wendland.

The resistance culture and peace movement is omnipresent in the region, and is heavily influenced by the demonstrations against nuclear power and nuclear weapons in the 1970-90s.
