You are invited to enjoy a staycation with us in a luxury Shepherds Hut!
We offer an idyllic getaway to the West Sussex countryside. From outside it appears to be a classic Shepherds Hut, as featured in Netflix feature film "The Dig", but inside it is a luxury space for up to two people furnished with a comfy double bed.
The hut is fully insulated with underfloor heating to keep you warm on chilly nights and well ventilated with double doors and windows on those barmy summer evenings.
The space
Compass Corner Shepherds Hut is nestled in the Sussex countryside at Yew Tree Barn in Worth near Turners Hill. The hut is located on the edge of a piece of pastureland full of wild flowers and grasses and is backed by ancient woodland of beech, oak, sweet chestnut and cherry trees called Compasses Wood.
The hut itself is a traditional and converted by design shepherding hut which sleeps two comfortably and has a variety of early to mid 20th century interior design touches.
The joy of being placed in such a location results in a calming space where you can while-away the hours inside or outside on your own piece of decking just outside the huts double doors.
Being bordered by Compasses Wood and close to Hundred Acres Wood it is a a beautiful vista which is frequented by a variety of British wildlife and beautiful sunrises. An ideal location to visit local attractions and places of interest nearby or explore the surrounding woodland.
Guest access
We are offering a calming Bed and Breakfast experience for that perfect break in the countryside for up to two.
You have full access to 4 acres of beautiful land, sit back or lounge on fully cushioned steamer chairs just outside the hut as the wind brushes through the trees of Compasses Wood and sways the long wild grasses in front of you.
Our wood fired Hot Tub with its bespoke wrap around illuminated stairway and table makes for easy access and drinks.
The Spar system giving you a Hydro-massage along with 8 jets+power controller or 12 air bubble system jets, all this along with coloured LED lights for which you can choose the colour you prefer or disco mode.
All these lights making for a Beautiful atmospheric feeling when relaxing in our hot tub at night.
We do not use any chemicals in our hot tub ,fresh water is filled on each booking. Large soft quality towels are provided along with spar slippers.
The Hot Tub will be lit before you arrive and the fire maintained by us or you are welcome to do this yourself. Heat is maintained within the tub due to insulation and the fully insulated easily removable cover.
The wood is all sustainable from our own woodland.
Located just behind the Shepherds Hut we have a bathroom toilet Hut.
There are many eco toilets but this one is ours. We think that this place should be a warm clean and welcoming place to visit and we believe we have achieved this in our design .Within you will find an Eco-Toilet, an odourless and comfortable bathroom with both hot and cold running water which is fully insulated and with underfloor heating.
The shower room which is adjoining the rear of the hut so as not to detract from the visual appearance of a traditional Shepherds Hut has all the modern facilities that a modern hotel would have, that being fully tiled ,thermostatic controlled shower, small sink, heated towel rail, and hairdryer which incorporates a shaver/toothbrush supply.
Former professional chef and host Sue will be able to provide a breakfast hamper inclusively each morning you stay with us. Locally known as "The Cake Lady" you may even be treated to the occasional cake or jam as she perfects her recipes for local country shows. Breakfast is served for you to either enjoy inside the Hut at your table inside or on the decking outside. Depending on the British weather the decision is yours.
We are also surrounded in close proximity to a variety of gorgeous, picturesque country pubs and restaurants for cosy evening meals and lunches. All of which are accessible by car or pushbike, as some of our previous guests have discovered who have brought their own with them.
