Guests love this home’s scenic location.
A quintessential cosy Grade II listed English country cottage. Located opposite St.Edward the Confessor church in the heart of the village of Cheddleton on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Great location for walking, relaxing and taking life easy. Within easy walking distance of an excellent pub and local shops.

The space
You enter the cottage straight into the living room with oak dining table for 4, Smart TV, free WiFi. Sofa with chaise and armchair. There is also a wood burning stove and some fuel for your use. There are books, games and cards for you to use.

The kitchen is equipped with a washing machine, fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster.

The ground floor bathroom has a WC, sink and shower.

Upstairs there is a small twin bedded room with wardrobe, mirror and hairdryer

The main bedroom is located at the front and provides a fantastic view of the church. It has a double bed, open wardrobe, basket storage, mirror and hairdryer

The garden is at the front of the cottage and is elevated above road level. The garden has seating for 4 and a small bistro table

Other things to note
This is a strictly no smoking property but you are welcome to smoke in the garden. Please discard of any cigarettes in the pot provided.

Please note that this an early 19th century country cottage with a narrow wall-enclosed winder staircase with small treads. Guests are advised to consider any mobility needs/issues they may have and the supervision of small children on the stairs is advised.

We do have a small front garden at the property. It is not advisable to let your dog be in this space unsupervised/off a lead.

The cottage is opposite St. Edward the Confessor church which conducts religious services and ceremonies when the bells will be rung and has a working clock which chimes.

Neighborhood highlights

The area around Cheddleton provides choices of activities for a variety of interests and ages. The original part of Cheddleton retains its traditional English country charm with old stone and brick houses centred around the church. Next to the church you will find the Black Lion pub offering excellent and reasonably priced meals, fine ales and wine. A short walk to the bottom of the lane leads to the Cauldon Canal and Churnet river where you will find a double wheeled flint mill. The canal offers scenic walks on a relatively flat and well maintained tow path.

Along the canal towards Longsdon visitors will come across Deep Hayes Country Park with lakes and woodland walks.

The nearby town of Leek offers a wide choice of independent shops selling goods from local artisans and has a collectors market on a Saturday. You will also find plenty of places to eat in Leek to suit all budgets, as well as a number of well known supermarkets.

The Roaches, park of the Peak District National Park is just outside Leek and is a beautiful place for walking and climbing. Sunset views are a must.

Beyond the Roaches you will reach the famous Victorian spa town of Buxton. Buxton offers lovely gardens and play area as well as the celebrated Buxton Opera House.

The City of Stoke on Trent is approximately 10 miles away and if you love your ceramics, there are numerous factory shops where you can pick up a bargain.

From Stoke you can catch a train to Manchester or Birmingham; both about an hour away.

Alton Towers Theme Park, a favourite for all age groups is approximately 25/30 minutes drive from Cheddleton.
