Welcome to Ostana, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, located in the Po Valley in front of Monviso (3841 meters), the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps. The cabin is located at 1400 meters in the characteristic hamlet of Sant'Antonio di Ostana, away from mass tourist circuits. The cabin has a beautiful southwest exposure, and from its large terrace you can enjoy spectacular views of Monviso and the surrounding mountains.
In the winter months, if you wish, you will be enveloped by the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace.
The space
Located on two floors, the cabin on the ground floor is equipped with an equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, and on the first floor it has a spacious terrace and a bedroom.
The kitchen is equipped with: oven, fridge, freezer, gas stove, kettle, moka coffee maker, dishes, pots, dish soap, baking paper, plastic wrap, oil, salt, pepper, sugar.
The bathroom has towels, toilet paper, liquid soap, hair dryer.
The bedroom features a stone wood-burning fireplace, a double bed, a living closet with drawers, a small desk, and a loft with two single beds. At the highest point, the loft measures 1 m and 60 cm, a space dedicated only to sleeping.
The entrance to the house, on the ground floor, consists of a sheltered outdoor space where there is a cabinet with garbage bins inside.
In front of the house there is a closed dirt road, which allows you to stop temporarily by car to unload your luggage. The house is not isolated since it is located in a village, surrounded by other stone houses.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
In the kitchen, there is a carbon monoxide detector, a gas detector, and a fire extinguisher. There is a carbon monoxide detector and a fire extinguisher in the bedroom.
The last building of the cabin dates back to 1905. The restoration of the house, begun in 2017 and completed in 2020, was carried out through the techniques of green building and traditional architecture. The materials used for renovation are natural materials such as local stone and larch wood.
The cabin has excellent thermal insulation. In the kitchen and bedroom, the heating is on the floor, while the bathroom has a towel warmer. Hot water is provided by a solar panel system.
It is usually possible to use the wood-burning fireplace from October to April. Guests will be provided with wood and everything they need to use it.
Guest access
The cabin can be reached by car with the possibility of free parking a few meters from the house. It is possible to stop for a moment with the car in front of the house to unload your luggage. The road, in the last kilometer and a half, rises with bends sometimes a little narrower, sometimes wider. In any case, it is a generally low-traffic road and does not present any particular difficulties for those who are familiar with driving on narrower mountain roads.
Those who do not have the opportunity to reach us by their own means have two options: take advantage of a shuttle service upon request, or, for those arriving from an airport, rent a car. Nearest airports are: Turin Caselle (100km away), Milan Malpensa (220km) and Milano Bergamo (270km).
Other things to note
The place is perfect for a couple. It is less suitable for hosting families. These can stay - with children over 10 years old - aware that: you sleep in the same room and therefore you need some adaptation to share the spaces; the mezzanine at the highest point measures 1m and 60cm and is only usable to go to sleep; to access the loft there is a solid wooden staircase but without handrails. Always aware of the above, even 3/4 friends can stay.
The house is located in the small village of Sant'Antonio di Ostana, where the only service available is a coffee bar. The bakery is located in the village of Villa, about a 10-minute walk from the house, partly along the path in the woods. It can also be reached by car.
Pets, whatever they are, can't stay.
The Municipality of Ostana applies the tourist tax of €1 per person per night. Children up to 12 years old pay €0.50. The accommodation tax must be paid in cash at the time of check-in.
For those who wish, we offer the use of the washing machine at a cost of €5 per wash to be paid in cash.
In the winter season (from November to April), road cleaning service is guaranteed from the snow. In any case, it is mandatory for municipal ordinance to have snow chains.
