Things to Do in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham
Find the best things to do in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. What makes your perfect holiday? If it’s the chance to see and try new things you’ll be spoilt for choice for things to do on the English Riviera in South Devon. From boat rides to discovering hidden gardens, here is a small selection of the things you can do in Torbay.

Things to do with the family in Torbay
Number 1 on our list of things to do with the family in Torbay has to be the beach. The soft sand is ideal for digging holes while the gently shelving sea is perfect for having fun in the waves. But you’ll also find so much more to fit into your holiday in the English Riviera with the family.

Explore the nature trail at Occombe Farm then have a play on the vintage tractor. Or run wild around the grounds at Cockington Court. Let your little monkeys use up some energy climbing the ropes at the fabulous, and free, Geoplay playground on The Green at Paignton seafront. Or go to see the apes (and so much more) at Paignton Zoo. Steam train fans of all ages will love climbing aboard the mighty engines at Paignton for a trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. And mini pirates and mermaids can pretend to be captain for the day when they explore The Golden Hind replica ship moored in Brixham harbour.

Things to do on or in the water
With 22 miles of stunning coastline, you’ll find lots to do on or in the water. Take a boat across the bay from Torquay to Brixham – if you’re lucky, you may even spot a playing dolphin jumping alongside. If you want to get into the water, how about a spot of coasteering? Literally plunging into the sea off the rocks, Torbay GeoPark is the ideal location to have a go at this thrilling sport because of the stunning caves and gaps created by our wonderful limestone cliffs. Other high-adrenaline water sports include diving, canoeing, wake-boarding and ringo rides. Or book a fishing trip from Torquay, Paignton or Brixham and see if you can catch your own supper. Older children will love the thrills of the flumes at Quaywest Waterpark in Paignton, And all the family can enjoy a more genteel trip in a swan boat on the lake at Goodrington.

Things to do if you’re feeling active
Relaxing with a drink beside the pub’s log fire or with a view of the sea may be the ultimate way to unwind. But what if you’re feeling active? We’re a dog-friendly place, so bring man’s best friend and walk the spectacular coast-path together. Along the way you’ll find lots of dog-friendly restaurants and cafes for a refuel. If cycling is your thing, hire a bike and helmet at the Torbay Velopark and see if you can beat your fastest time around the one mile track. You can even hire kids’ bikes here – and the wide, safe, and flat track is the perfect place to master two-wheel cycling.

Devon’s top attractions
South Devon is home to some of Devon’s best-loved attractions and places to visit. Explore the historic houses and gardens at the National Trust’s Coleton Fishacre or Greenway House, the former home of Agatha Christie. Visit the prehistoric world of Kents Cavern to discover how early man lived. Or head across the River Dart to Woodlands, Devon’s largest all-weather family theme park, for the thrills and spills of rides and soft play.

From festivals and shopping to sports and days out, search our site to find thousands more things to do when you visit Torbay.
