70s luxe style with modern amenities greet you on 5 acres of quiet hi-desert paradise. The house is situated perfectly, 10 minutes from all of the amenities you'd need in town, 12 minutes from Joshua Tree village, 10 minutes from the Integratron, 5 minutes from La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room but far enough that you can experience the beauty of the desert. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath home features a home cinema, an outdoor shower, hammocks, and a 70s style luxe master bath to die for.
The space
The house features vintage 70s style with a variety of modern amenities, including a new mini-split AC and heating system, high speed mesh WiFi throughout the property on a broadband connection, newly renovated showers, an outdoor shower, a digital projector and drop down screen, new cooktop, dishwasher, and microwave oven, new mid-century modern furnishings. It has 2 bedrooms, each with a corresponding bathroom, and sleeps up to 4 adults.
We have made an effort to preserve the vintage character of the property while upgrading the things that will make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The Living Room
The spacious living room greets you as you enter the front door, and features a large sectional wraparound sofa you can use as your conversation pit, with decor touches like the vegan shag fur rug, Odd Knutson Luna chairs, and Eames rocking chairs. Play vintage records on the turntable or settle into the corner seating nook, drop down the projector screen and watch movies on the big screen, featuring Netflix, HBO Max, or YouTube.
The living room can sleep up to 2 kids either on the sofa or using the supplied full sized aerobed.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is the height of 70s style with modern amenities including a 5 burner gas cooktop, a microwave, an air fryer/toaster, an espresso maker, an electric kettle, and dishwasher. Please note, the wall oven currently isn’t functional but adds to the vintage 70s vibes. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and some kitchen staples like olive oil, seasonings, and more. We stock Stumptown Coffee because we value a good caffeine buzz. You can choose to eat at the breakfast counter, made of the finest imported linoleum, the outdoor patio table, or the indoor dining table with room for 8-10.
The Dining Room
The dining room features a large expandable-leaf dining table which seats 8-10, Eames style Eiffel chairs, and chic lighting for an intimate mood.
Bedroom 1
The master bedroom features a queen sized bed, plenty of closet space behind a full-length mirrored wall, a reading chair, and its own mini-split AC + heat unit for your comfort year round.
The bedroom adjoins the private, en-suite master bath, which features a large 2 person soaking tub, double sinks, and a newly renovated walk-in shower with rain head and hand shower.
Bedroom 2
The bedroom features a full sized bed, a large closet, its own mini-split AC + heat unit, a reading chair, and groovy 70s music-themed decor.
The bedroom adjoins the second bathroom which features a large walk-in shower with a rain head and hand shower, sink and toilet. This bathroom also connects to the laundry room for easy access.
The Laundry Room / Study
The laundry room features a top loading washer and gas heated dryer for guest use. It also features a desk area in case any guests wish to have a private space to work while visiting.
The Great Outdoors
The grounds span across 5 acres with mature Joshua Trees, creosote bushes, yucca, and unobstructed wide open skies.
The front patio is covered for optimal shade, has has seating for relaxing into morning bird watching, or evening stargazing, as well as a table for outdoor dining.
The rear of the property offers privacy concealed behind the house and features a cowboy pool and yoga deck, a heated outdoor shower, dual hammocks which are great for stargazing, and a small cafe table and chairs.
The 2.5 acres immediately surrounding the house are fenced in, and have been cleared of cacti to make them more human and kid-friendly.
The rear of the land, outside the fenced in area around the house, is raw desert which is spotted with many mature Joshua Trees, cacti, and is a great place to spot wildlife. Quail, jackrabbits, roadrunners, ground squirrels and other critters can regularly be seen.
Across the street from the house, there are unobstructed views of 100+ acres of wide open desert, mountains, quiet backroads are perfect for leisurely strolls and for viewing the lush desert flora and fauna.
Guest access
Guests have access to all areas of the house and the surrounding land.
Please keep in mind not to cross off the 5 acres as that land belongs to our neighbors and is private property.
The garage is not accessible to guests, although there is ample space for up to 6 cars to park on the property.
The property is just off a paved road so 4 wheel drive vehicles are not necessary.
Other things to note
Please note our house rules include no pets, no parties (our neighbors are far away but sound carries a long distance out here in the desert!), and no smoking on the property (wildfire hazard).
While we offer an experience with modern amenities, our area is rural desert, and as such there is wildlife which can be hazardous to people and other animals, so please be respectful of the ecosystem and give them space.
The property is fenced, and we maintain the grounds for comfort and safety, but nature is beyond our control so please be aware and educate yourself on the high desert.
Joshua Trees are endangered and are federally protected so please do not touch, climb, or take any Joshua Tree clippings.
