Here, the whole family can lower their shoulders, unplug, and really get the good cabin feel. The cabin is large (109 sqm), spacious and open. It's at a great location in the mountains. The surrounding area has good hiking conditions both on foot, skiing and by bike. Right outside the door there is a well developed network of about 100 km of well-groomed skiing trails. There is a short distance to the ski resorts in Trysilfjellet (25 min) and Sälen (35 min). Here you are close to activities both for big and small and to all seasons.

In the winter there are nice ski tracks right outside the door and the atmospheric cabin combined with the sauna creates the perfect winter experience. The house is also suitable for those who need a place to stay for a shorter period of time while renovating their house, or looking for something new. A cheap holiday / residence for small to large families.

In the summer, you can take the river down to the village of Skarnes, situated on Norway's longest river Glomma. We have a boat, a canoe and a kayak for rent.

The farm is about a 15 minute drive by car to the city, Elverum. A grocery store is about 13 minutes away. You should have a car to stay with us. You will find an operating farm, with tractor driving at times but also silence, nature, trees, fields and forest as neighbors. Occasionally you can see moose and deer on the land. Occasionally, it's the northern lights!

We had an absolutely incredible stay! The photos on Airbnb don’t do the place justice—both the house and its surroundings are even more magical and inviting in person. It is an amazing property! The spacious kitchen is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy cooking, and the house is stocked with all kinds of games and books for entertainment. The bed- and bathrooms are wonderfully comfortable, and the view of the river is simply breathtaking. Ivo thoughtfully provided a fantastic list of activities, including more than we had time for! From ski rentals and cross-country trails to shopping and local attractions, everything was perfectly described. We felt very welcome. Thank you so much! We visited in winter, but we’ll definitely be back in the summer!

Inger’s place was perfect for our family! We enjoyed the abundant natural light coming in the great big windows, the wood burning fireplace, the sauna (which Inger’s husband Knut graciously helped us get going, then shared interesting information about the history and unique ecological features of the area), and the river views. It’s conveniently located 12 minutes from downtown Lillehammer, making our Birken weekend convenient!

Beautiful location. Is a true farm house setup separate from, but right next to the main house (which is host occupied, I believe). Is rustic with some nice updates (eg. bathroom). Lots of space - very comfortable for 4 of us and with room outside to exercise 2 big dogs. close to ski trails, very convenient to the airport, and less than an hour to the heart of Oslo.

A fantastic cabin located 150 meters from the ski slope. The spa area was spacious and very comfortable. It is worth noting that even though there are 3 bedrooms in the listing, one room is really once before the bedroom on the 2nd floor with only one bed. We had a great time and would love to come back another time!

Beautiful apartment right on the slopes, views of the ski slopes, all afternoon sun. Very suitable for early skiing from 7:00 (2x a week) and night skiing. Nearby cross-country skiing. Good kitchen equipment. Large comfy beds. Bathroom very nice. Washing machine available but not used. We will be happy to come back.

Heidi answered all our questions both before and during our stay. Heidi was flexible with our check in and check outs, which was very helpful to us. The apartment was wonderful and had everything that we needed with a well equipped kitchen. We also loved the comfortable beds and that the living area opens out to great sized balconies. Staying at Jan's cottage felt like being invited to stay by a friend who trusts you to look after their belongings. It's very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. The cottage is right out in the countryside, which is wonderful - peace and quiet, lovely views, and we saw a mountain hare very close by. You definitely need a car, or to be a good skier in winter! We had very unusual freeze/thaw conditions and our hired car was inadequate for driving up and down the small road. Jan was really helpful, making sure the road was snow-ploughed, and responding very quickly to queries. We had a great time.
