“The cottage is more spacious than expected, spotless, with good outdoor space and friendly, inquisitive sheep in the field next door. It is ideally situated for accessing Newcastle (10 miles away) and Hadrian's wall. We were greeted by friendly hosts, and a kitchen with fresh milk, bread, biscuits, coffee, tea, jams, butter, wine and lager! We only stayed for three days, but from such a convenient base were able to adequately tire out an eight year old girl with trips to the theatre, the Life Centre, ice-skating, and a fabulous 3 mile walk (from Steel Rigg Car park) around breathtaking sections of Hadrian's wall. None of the above had been effectively organised in advance, but were easily sorted out from the cottage. It proved ideal for the three of us, and could easily have accommodated another due to the huge living area.”
Our house is situated in the centre of the charming village of Wylam. The house has 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 6 people and allows furry friends too! *dogs are not allowed upstairs*.
“This place is amazing!! We went to visit family and attend a wedding and decided to stay for a few days. Debbie was an amazing host, she met with us on arrival, showed us in and chatted to us about the local area. She told us where to walk the dog and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring these walks. The house itself was beautiful, exceptionally clean, with lots of extra touches such as tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet rolls and toiletries available in case we had forgotten anything. Beds were all super comfortable with good quality bedding. During our stay Debbie was available via text or phone call for anything we needed. This is a fantastic base for exploring the many local attractions or for taking it easy and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We will definately be returning again soon, so happy we have found such a lovey place to stay that is so close to our family.”
Stable is a great base to explore: the Tyne Valley, Historic Corbridge with its independent shops, the market town of Hexham with its majestic Abbey and visitor centre. The cities of Newcastle and Carlisle are directly accessed via the A69 road and public transport. Hadrian's Wall, forts and visitors centres are all easily accessed and close by. The renowned Northumberland coast is less than an hour away.
“Very much enjoyed staying at Morag's place, communication was great and prompt! When we first arrived we were greeted by Morag and of course the lovely Trudy (who is the most lovable dog ever!) She was pleasant and playful with our dogs too which immediately put our minds at ease. The little stable itself is comfy, warm and inviting. After a countryside walk I enjoyed a nice hot shower and got ready for our evening out which was just along the road to The Boathouse. I would recommend this gorgeous little retreat to anyone who just wants to get away from it all. We will be back!”
