This place was absolutely breathtaking and just what my wife and I were looking for. The peaceful surroundings made our quiet getaway one to remember. The hot tub was in perfect condition and always stayed warm. This was the perfect way to unwind. We were also stunned with the amazing nature views. From a snowy wonderland to the clear skies and countless stars, we were so happy with this place. We cuddled up near the fireplace which kept us warm the whole weekend. There was plenty of space for the two of us to feel comfortable and right at home. Cooper’s communication was great and quickly answered the couple of questions we had. We highly recommend this place and plan to be back some day.

"We just spent the most incredible weekend at this fantastic John Wayne-themed house! From the moment we stepped inside, we felt like we were transported to the Wild West. The decor was top-notch, with authentic cowboy gear, vintage posters, and even a life-size cutout of the Duke himself! The house was spotless, spacious, and had every amenity we needed. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the backyard was perfect for sippin' whiskey and watchin' the sunset. Our host was friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We can't recommend this place enough - it's a must-stay for any John Wayne fan or anyone lookin' for a unique and memorable experience. We'll be back, pardner!"

Amazing host, the cabins were incredible and the surrounding trees and lighting was beautiful. The whole experience felt magical.

I am in love with this cozy little cabin. My fiance and I had a great time! The retro feel and the Nintendo games and VHS tapes were our absolute favorites. We only wish some of the games had worked better, but that is just how old games work and is no fault of the owner. The hot tub was a wonderful addition as well with the quiet view of the frozen lake was very relaxing. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Loved our stay! While the home is quite small, it was stocked with anything we could have wanted/needed. It was the perfect place to unplug and decompress. The hot tub was absolutely amazing! While we didn’t use the area above the garage, it was quite impressive! Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful weekend stay with my hubby and our sweet dog. We loved being able to bring him with us on this trip, it meant the world to us and he loved exploring the land too. The home is beautiful, very peaceful and serene. The hot tub is amazing, we used that multiple times! It’s very quiet which was so nourishing for us. It’s not horribly far from town either, so we enjoyed date nights in Decorah while being able to also enjoy the quiet country. We would have loved some more non-toxic options inside of the home such as the soaps and laundry detergent as I can be very sensitive to scents and chemicals. So if you are more sensitive or just cautious, plan to bring your own detergent, hand soap/dish soap and shower stuff. We also couldn’t find a dust pan for the broom.. I’m sure there is one, we just couldn’t find it. Overall, we are happy with our stay and would absolutely recommend it.

We had come for a weekend getaway for valentines day and weekend getaway we had. It was an incredibly beautiful and rewarding experience staying here. From listening to the speakers throughout while bird watching, to watching the snow fall in the hottub on a private patio, everything was perfect

Great place to stay for a few days in the area. Well equipped kitchen, bathroom and nicely decorated. Mudroom and front porch. We were fortunate to be there to see Eagle and seagulls migrating just across the street on the River! Extra special!

Kathy’s place is perfect for a north woods getaway. We snowmobiled, and even though there is no trail at the end of the driveway, there is a public boat launch that provides access to the chain of lakes just a couple of houses over and easy to get to. The place has everything you need and just the right amount of tucked away but still close to town. Kathy is nearby and willing to help with anything that comes up. 10/10

Fantastic hosts with fantastic little cabin. Absolutely loved my stay. Super cozy and warm during the coldest snap of the year! Would be even better in the summer with the beautiful location, outdoor amenities, and classic cabin on the lake!

We enjoyed a relaxing long weekend thanks to Cheryl’s place. It’s a classic lake cottage with updates that suited us perfectly. Not fancy but rather the kind of place that had everything we needed and wanted. We were so happy that our dog could join us, too. The pond is beautiful and so peaceful. The cottage is clean and welcoming and the kitchen is well equipped. Cheryl was proactive and responded quickly to my one question. I highly recommend it — but only to people who don’t want to visit when we want to go back!

A great choice for a super cozy getaway! We loved this space for a lowkey girls weekend with our dogs. Perfect for cooking, game, reading, and exploring the local LaCrosse area. Our favorite part was the electric fireplace that really added to the overall vibe.

Great stay! Easy check in and exactly as pictured! So many games for kids tucked away throughout the home! 10/10 would recommend!

The house is in a quiet neighborhood with direct access to the river and all the wildlife that calls it home. There is always something to see out there. The kitchen was well appointed and easy to cook in. Clean and organized. Coffee in the sun room was a great start to every day!

We loved our stay at Chickadee! We were in town for couple days to see family for Christmas, so enjoying morning coffee and cribbage by the fireplace was a great way to start the day. The beds were super comfortable and every room was so clean - really impressed! It was just two of us for this trip but, as many reviews point out, there’s a ton of room, so it’d be great for a group!

If you're looking for large, sleek and modern, this is not for you. But if you want a cozy, comfy, quintessentially vintage cabin this little honey is it! Take a step back in time and appreciate how lovingly this (former) hunting cabin has been preserved. Everywhere you look you'll be treated to authenticity and sweet surprises. We loved it! AND our host made everything easy!

absolutely great weekend staying here. the house is even better than how great it looks in the pictures. they kitchen is well stocked and felt very much like home. the hosts were extremely kind and reached out to make sure we had everything we needed. will definitely stay again.

I had a great experience at Tanya’s place. I ended up going alone (me time) and it was simply what I needed, a place to open my mind outside the city, quiet, private and with beautiful views! Will definitely go back!
