We had a wonderful stay at hot water beach! Cannot recommend this place enough. A very beach cottage vibe to it and is literally a two second walk to the beach (right across the road). Check in was super easy and the host was very responsive. The only thing is there was no ice (or ice trays provided) and as mentioned you have to drive a bit into town so that could easily be avoided but we got to see the town of Hahei which is a super cute place and happy we got to see it. This place is definitely worth it, you’ll feel like you’re in a little garden oasis.

My partner and I loved staying here in beautiful Tairua! We just wished we could stayed longer. Julia made us feel right at home and we loved the special touches such as breakfast and snacks. We hope to be back again!

We absolutely loved our stay at Stephanie’s beautiful home on Mt Paku. The location is stunning, with breathtaking views of both the river and the ocean — truly spectacular! The house itself is immaculate: clean, tidy, and thoughtfully decorated with no clutter. It had everything we needed and more, including thoughtful extras like kids' toys and first aid kits. Stephanie also provided a super helpful check-in guide with local highlights and great food spots, which made exploring the area so much easier. Highly recommend this gem — we can’t wait to come back!

It's the basement apartment to their home, and it's cozy and comfortable! It has a little basement type feel - mainly the concrete floors and handful of harmless little spiders hanging around, as well as being able to hear our upstairs hosts through the floor - but it's clean, private, and has everything you could need. Jane is responsive and very friendly, including giving us some suggestions about local places to eat and activities after our main event one day was cancelled. She even had some local fruit on the table for us to enjoy! Sam the kitty is super friendly too!
