Amazing place and amazing host! Yoko is a kind and welcoming host, paying attention to every single detail. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the house is really beautiful (much better than depicted in the pictures). Our stay was beyond our expectations and we can’t be thankful enough. If we ever go back to Kyoto, we’ll definitely stay at Yoko’s place again.

特别美的房子，超级耐心又友善的房东😭给第一次在京都选择民宿的我留下超美好的印象！我因为吃饭稍微耽误时间，房主也爽快同意调整时间到jr站接我们，入住的房间又安静又美丽，超nice的房主还允许我们拍照，keiko准备的早餐美味到让我忘不了！实在是太美丽的回忆了😭

Absolutely gorgeous place with very welcoming hosts. We had a great time and we were served delicious dinner and breakfast after we took a bike ride around the neighborhood to see the gorgeous local temples and vistas

Our thanks to these great hosts who were very accommodating from the first inquiry all the way to checkouut. A very friendly family who truly welcome you to their village and home. The thatched cottage was as advertised and the experience of staying out in the countryside was perfect. Not a complaint, but just stating the house is an old house with low hanging beams, which an average height persob bumped their head 5 times in 3 nights 😉. But again fully recommend Yoshiko-san's Mitoya cottage, a nice peaceful stay.

Larry was a very positive, friendly host. Very, very nice person and very helpful. He picked us up from the station which was very nice.

If you go to Kyoto you have to go to Keiko’s house ! She is absolutely LOVELY and her home is very comfortable. It is very easy to go from the station to the station next to her home and she will pick you up there ! I highly recommend this stay 🌸 Thanks again for everything Keiko 🩷

Yoko è un’host straordinaria, la casa è pulitissima , accogliente e molto elegante . La zona è molto tranquilla ed è molto piacevole passeggiare nelle piccole vie circostanti molto caratteristiche. Si respira un’atmosfera molto autentica sia in casa che nei dintorni. Non vedo l’ora di tornarci!

We stayed at four airBnb‘s in Japan and all have their good points, but this was by far the best. Located in a quiet suburb so not walking distance to the main sites of Kyoto, but with some lovely sites that we would not have seen otherwise Close by. It was as simple Uber ride or train ride to get into Kyoto for main sightseeing and it was lovely to come home to a quiet un bustling local with a wide choice of excellent restaurants to choose among. The apartment itself is spacious, by far the most spacious we stayed in And it’s part of a an apartment complex which has a small gym. Nori and Fumi even served us breakfast all three days we were there in another upstairs breakfast room. To top it off, they picked this up and dropped us off at this train station three days later. All in all it was a really welcoming and comfortable place to stay, well worth the price we paid

The host was absolutely outstanding. The atmosphere was always friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for me since I was attending a conference at the international conference centre (20 minute walk). The facilities were excellent for the price.

This guest house is will be the best choice. The host tommy is very kind and mindful. He speaks english very well, so someone who didn't speak japanese will be satified. Also, the domitory bed was very nice. It's cozy and comfotable. And Tommy will give you breakfast If you request. The toast was tasty. I recommend this guest house, you will not regret your choice. Eine wirklich tolle Unterkunft! Wir hatten das Deluxe Zimmer mit Balkon und Blick von oben auf den kleinen Garten. Leckeres Frühstück, sehr nette Gastgeber und ein wunderschönes altehrwürdiges haus. Man kann sogar Fahrräder ausleihen und die Gegend erkunden. Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen aber mit dem Bus ist man schnell überall. Klare Empfehlung!

Chieri en haar moeder en hun schattige hond zijn hele lieve hosts die er alles aan doen om je verblijf een echte authentieke Japanse ervaring te laten zijn. Hun huis is prachtig ingericht, ruim en voelt heel fijn en gastvrij. Het café en de biertuin van Chieri zijn ook zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Het eten en drinken en het gratis Japanse ontbijt waren heerlijk. En als je nog authentieke Japanse souvenirs zoekt zijn die hier ook te vinden. Al met al een perfecte plek om even tot rust te komen na het bezoeken van de drukke steden als Kyoto en Osaka.

I had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb in Kyoto! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help out with any questions or needs. The location is great – it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest station and equally close to popular spots like Sanjo and Nishiki Market, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights of my stay was definitely the breakfast. It wasn’t just a standard continental breakfast – each morning, they prepared a full, delicious spread for every guest, which was such a treat to start the day. You could really feel the care and effort they put into making everyone feel at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The only minor issue was the washer and dryer, which are a bit dated. The dryer took a while to dry a half load, so I’d recommend doing smaller loads or planning laundry for when you have some time to hang out. Overall, I loved my stay here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting!

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch und das Frühstück war fantastisch! Die Lage war für uns perfekt. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und verabschiedet. Die Unterkunft war für uns insgesamt sehr gut, ist allerdings (nachts) hellhörig, was beim Schlafen stören kann. Es werden aber Ohropax kostenlos bereitgestellt. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft! Staying at John’s place in Shiga was an unforgettable experience! John is an incredibly passionate and energetic host, always full of enthusiasm. He and his lovely wife, Rika, made me feel right at home. They even invited me to join their family for a delicious homemade dinner, and Rika kindly provided breakfast as well. Their son, Andre, was also very friendly, and I truly enjoyed our conversations. The house itself is a charming countryside cottage surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect getaway. If you’re visiting Shiga, staying with John is an absolute must! Highly recommended!

Can’t rate Ikuko & Michaels place highly enough! They were so helpful providing directions to get there and Michael even picked us up from the bus stop. Ikuko’s breakfasts were elite and they were both so lovely to chat to. The house is great and the surrounding area beautiful. Would return in a heartbeat!
