Located in a quiet, Old Forest setting these unique Cabins are amazing. The 4 individually themed Cabins and a central campground style Bathroom are on 7 acres of a creek valley. The Cabins were hand built from 1997 to 2008. The style and shape of each Cabin is unique, all have cathedral ceilings and lots of windows. Some places claim to be ‘rustic’ and try hard to be so, these cabins ARE what Rustic is, they do not try. These are Camping Cabins, so bring your camping gear or rent ours.
“Mike's Cabin was the perfect spot for my birthday celebration with my husband. There was enough wood for the stove, the bed was comfortable, the views were beautiful, and cabin felt safe and cozy. There were other cabins nearby but I never heard the other visitors and we still felt like we had our privacy even with all of the windows. There are two mini-washrooms inside the washroom facility- each one has a sink, toilet, and shower. Its heated and the hot water doesn't take long to arrive when you turn on the tap. Finding the place was also super easy when using google maps. After posting photos of my weekend I had two friends who were interested in booking as well and they did book and they each had amazing experiences as well.”
Kate's Place is a newly renovated century old home located one block from beautiful Victoria Park and downtown Truro. Come and explore this historic little town with it's hiking trails, boutiques, cafes, bistros, and pubs all just a short walk away. Want a quiet evening at home? Relax on our covered veranda with a glass of local spirts, wine or craft beer.
“I highly recommend Kate's Place. The kitchen is super bright and has all the necessities to cook with. We also made use of the covered front porch for barbecuing. It is extremely cozy with lots of extra blankets to wrap up in. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was soft with extra sheets and pillows. There were also more then enough towels so laundry was kept to a minimum. The bathroom is another bright, spacious room. We enjoyed our stay and next time plan to take full advantage of Victoria Park (right across the road) and the many walking/biking trails around Truro.”
Thornbank Farm is bursting with history and tranquility. Rev. James Ross established The West River Seminary and Theological Hall here at this very site. Ross would later become President at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS. The Farm is located on the east side of the West River, between the Durham and Lochbroom Bridges. It is nestled out on a peninsula along the West River. Fields, eagles, and giant old growth Maple trees compliment the overwhelming peacefulness of the West River.
“Can’t thank you enough for being a fantastic, friendly and accommodating host! It was our pleasure to be able to share our special moment with you and your family. I would highly recommend a stay here if peace, quiet, nature and a laid back experience is your thing! I cannot express enough how great it was to have Chris as a host and because if this we will definitely be returning in the future. Thanks to Chris for helping take our airbnb experience to the next level!”
